supposed to find the Mean, median, and mode for all of these numbers so i can find the standard deviation.
960,950,930,910,910,900,890,890,880,870,870,870,860,860,850,840,840,830,830,830,810,810,800,790,790
,790,770,770,750,730,730,720,700,700,700,690,680,680,680,670,670,670,670,670,660,630,620,620,610,600
,590,560,540,540,540,520,480,380
yet soo far every standard deviation calculator online is telling me that the average of all these numbers is 12495.26
they acknowledge that there are 57 numbers and all the numbers are between 1000 and 350
yet the average is 12495…..
my psych teacher told me (the entire class) not to do this with a calculator that isnt already equipped to deal with this standard deviation crap or we will all get it wrong.
Can you guys tell me wtf i am doing wrong here?
how can i find the standard deviation of all these numbers without using my crap calculator?

I see 58 numbers here, maybe you miscounted?

In any case, there’s (obviously) no way the average can be 12 495. If I didn’t omit and/or add any numbers, the mean should be 739.6551724. You should be able to do the rest from here. The next steps should be calculating each deviation by subtracting them with the mean, squaring the amounts, adding the results together, dividing the result by 57 and square rooting the total.

If you have a TI84, you can plug them all into your stat list, with each entry in L1 being what you posted. Then, for L2, just put 1 in down until you get to the last number.
Next, go to stat→Calculate→1VarStats. It will give you the standard deviation, which is labeled “Sx”. Mean = x with a line over it. I don’t think it will tell you the mode, but that’s not hard to figure out.
And by the way, a TI84 is equipped for the standard deviation crap.

If you have a TI84
nope
TI30X IIS or whatever

You have the number “670670” in there.

I am pretty sure that he meant " 670,670 "

That actually is the error since including this number instead of two 670s and dividing the total by 57 causes the mean to reach exactly 12 495.26.
