I have been looking for some new sound effects. I need some fighting sound effects, you know, like hitting, slapping, that kind of stuff. I plan on editing and mixing them…

A crazy idea might be to take a microphone and record loads of everyday sounds, and edit them into what you want. A trolley from a supermarket crashing into a suspended tin tray, cleaned up and edited could make for a great sword sound.
Best thing about this? no problems with copyright, increased inspiration, better recording technique through time and loads of fun.
Go mad, maybe post some ideas of what works.
Thunder, rain, car engines at various revs, dropping stuff, breaking stuff? maybe play things backwards, inverse the wave forms apply exteme effects? Go mad, maybe we post some ideas of what works/doesn’t. You’ll be limited only by your creativity. By experimenting, you might hit on a sound that would just be perfect for something you are looking for, and you have loads of stuff for future projects!

Those were actually some pretty good suggestions, though.

This was the oldest non-locked thread in OT before MFThomas bumped it. I actually just checked earlier today.
Anyways, I agree with HappyAlcoholic, these are good ideas.
Also, if the recording thing doesn’t work out, you could always try out doing a collaboration with someone who does sound-effects, and you could do the rest. Try seeing if any of your friends know how to do sound effects, you could have a lot of fun working with them!
