Computer Virus

While checking my Y! mail, i dicovered an email written in Chinese text by someone named “Sean” I said to myself, “Oh that’s spam, lets just move it to it’s appropriate folder…”

Then BAM!

My screen gets all jumbled. Crtl-Alt-Dlt doesn’t work. Nothing worked. Hell, even the shortcut (F12) I created to kill unresponding tasks wasn’t working. I decided to go for a manual push of the off button.

The comp is now off. I turn it back on. The on ring has a light, BUT

The HDD light is not blinking, is not responsive
My mouse has no light coming out of it.
No other peripherals respond, their only on.
The BIOS does not show up, only a black screen with the words from my monitor “No Signal”

Is there a tool i can use, a flash drive program i can plug in while it starts. The comp is nonrespisnive, not booting up. I will try to post images of the jumbled screen later (taken by my camera) as I am on a public computer.

In my wisdom, i have unlugged the ethernet cord from my comp, isolating it, and unplugged the power, just in case.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you ran a virus scan yet?

As I have said, the comp does not boot. Only a “No Signal” sign form my monitor.

Unless yahoo has terrible zero security and you opened the email, then nothing should have happened.

Other solutions:
EMP blast went off, frying your hard drive
random hard drive failure
cord unplugged from monitor
cords unplugged from somewhere by coincidence

Seems like a Chinese guy called Sean, sent you a virus.

Well, I have no idea. Leave it for a while. If it doesn’t turn on tomorrow, it might be shot.

there IS an attachment to the email. Opening that….

Sign of mental de-stabilization.

Never download anything from an email from someone you don’t know, it is a general rule of thumb. No distant relatives died and you are not getting inheritance money. Your parents are going to be mad.

Yes, I know this. I need to find out whether it was the email tho.

I’m at a public computer, I dont crae, they dont care. Nothing happened when i DL’ed the file tho…..
