Those are the most ridiculous reasons I’ve ever heard.

Make them a promise and then break it.

Cause harm to one of their loved ones.

Destroy something they worked hard to get.

Kind of a dick move, for sure, but you have a lovely opportunity to not be a dick.
So don’t be a dick. Move on.

Rip their 20-page essay in half.

Tell them something that hurts to learn, but which they absolutely need to know.
e.g. “LOOK! your mother isn’t returning because she’s DEAD!”.
That’s the best. But it’s probably not what you’re looking for, so…my advice is to try turning the other cheek once in a while, if only to confuse them.

Ask TheFatBlob, I hear he infects people with nematodes if they get on his bad side.
