I just feel like ranting a bit…
Bunches of little kids keep running rampant through chat rooms yelling random strings of curse words, are asked to quiet down, proceed to curse more in the name of “Freedom of Speech,” then are upset when they are silenced by a Moderator or ultimately banned by an Administrator.
1) There is no such thing as “Freedom of Speech” in its truest sense. If so, then there would be no such thing as a secret. And words do hurt, so there are limits on what people can and cannot say. Go to an airport, start yelling “Bomb” and complain about your freedom of speech in a security holding cell. lol Even in America our “Freedoms” are not absolute, if even on the simplest level. I’ve heard this quote before and this is the best I can track it to its source
“Each side takes the position of the man who was arrested for swinging his arms and hitting another in the nose, and asked the judge if he did not have a right to swing his arms in a free country. “Your right to swing your arms ends just where the other man’s nose begins.”
Zechariah Chafee, Jr., Harvard Law Review, June 1919"
2) Being on Kongregate is not a right nor is it a freedom, it’s a privlage. It’s also voluntary for you to be here or not. When you signed up for an account, and were given permission to add comments into the chat room, you did so under the agreement that you would follow the rules as stated in the Terms of Service agreement and enforced by the moderators and administrators of Kongregate. It’s quite simple when you look at it in whole — you have the freedom to do or say whatever you want, you then want to come here and chat, you make an agreement that you will not do or say certain things as outlined in the ToS, at that point you’ve given up your “Freedom of Speech” in this venue to abide by the rules that govern this venue.
It’s like — if you give someone a toy, and give them the instructions “You can play with it, just don’t break it” and they break it, what are you gonna do? XD Leave it to keep being broken or take it back from them and second guess letting them play with anything anymore?
Here’s Kongregate, you can play with it, just don’t break it :)
End Rant
[I have no intentions of following up my statements, flame or cheer all you want to whatever I just said XD]

Thats where the UK and America are far apart. Where the UK has free speech and America has no free speech. Thats why us Brits are always getting banned or silenced. I haven’t seen an Americain get banned or silenced yet.

If anything, we’re ignored more than most.

If you were raised to think being called stupid was a compliment, how would it hurt. That includes all variations of the word and its meaning. Sentance in bold, read it, look at it, that kinda sentance annoys me. Some would understand, some might not…if you do great! if not think about it again.

You don’t have “Freedom of Speech” on someone else’s webserver. (In America, ) I’m not allowed to interfere with you spreading your views (provided those views fall under “protected speech”), but no-one is obligated to provide you with a forum in which to air those views.

Kongregate is a great game-website, good games, nice people, mods, etc, its missing a few things, but apart from that, its fine…

Maybe you should read through your argument again and see how far off you are. Proclaiming “stupid” in your country means “sweet, nice and kind” does not mean you get to shout it out to every single person in chat.
The rules were made to keep the majority happy, they can’t make everyone feel content. Also, words do not really hurt you on the internet, as long as you know there’s a mute button or a moderator around when things get out of hand.

Moderators can ban.

Well then they aren’t working and as well as no they weren’t.

“We have a damn sight more freedom than America does.”
Most certainly- shame more people don’t use it productively ;)
Freedom of speech is not necessarily a good thing; baseless slander can ruin people’s careers, for a start. Freedom of opinion is fine, but I think we need rules. The behavior of many people in chat upsets, offends and annoys a lot of people and on those grounds its entirely fair to stop them. This site should uphold its rules more strictly, in my opinion. If you’re too immature to agree to an entirely reasonable set of rules, go elsewhere (back to 4chan! haha).

In order to become a user on this website you are thereby agreeing – in the terms of service – to waive your right to freedom of speech. Every single user on Kongregate has agreed to this, and every one is expected to understand and follow through with this.
Kongregate is a private place. Freedom of speech is for public place. A good example is somebody walking into another person’s house, spewing profanity, and then refusing to leave. This is simply not allowed.
Kongregate isn’t 4chan and you can’t say whatever you want.

This is indeed true. “Freedom of speech” claims are almost always used here by people who want to abuse their ability to communicate and have to be told there is no such thing here. You signed away your “rights” when you created an account on this privately owned website.
You are free to say what you want, but Kongregate is free to determine if it wants to allow you access to the account it lets you use. This is just like being in someone’s home: say what you want, but that doesn’t mean they wont throw you out. There are consequences; consequences which ‘freedom of speech’ doesn’t protect you from.

This is either one of the funniest things or the most ignorant things I’ve ever heard posted about Kongregate.

Don’t want to listen to it just mute them (I’m just posting this because I was half way through when I got silenced.).

Shouldn’t have to; they’re the ones breaking the rules, why should I suffer? They should be removed

To walfordking “Thats why us Brits are always getting banned or silenced. I haven’t seen an Americain get banned or silenced yet”
If i became American then i would be both silenced and banned coz i will still speak my mind and will continue doing so wether they like it or not.

Free Speech is a lie. The Only way to have free-speech is to do it either anonymously or on your own, I struggle to keep my opinions to myself, thus are banned a-lot on SNS but only on Kong once, but that was because of troll, which i didn’t mean, I was in a bad mood then, but I don’t have any bad opinions of the kong com, well the non-spam-troll-etc part anyway xD

Free Speech is a lie.
No, you can say anything you want.
However, what you say is not without consequence.
The consequences of what you say can be either good or bad, depending on what you are saying.
edit:
I like that; thanks someguy
No problem.
