There seems to be some confusion in the game sticky over the new rule, so before I post it there, I’ll post it here for any questions or comments.

The sticky is working as users suggested, but is holding things back too much; which is not what it’s for. We don’t want to kill games, it’s just to keep the spam down and the complaints about “games taking over OT” out of our ears.

Here’s how it’s been changed:

New rule:

If you are within the first 6 at the beginning of the line and there is a slot open, the first to make their game get the slot.

Let’s say the following people are in line:

1) Pleasedonot5
2) craigkiller
3) Mysterymason
4) chitown15
5) Ncio
6) zaraki
7) fuzzybacon

And there is 1 slot open. Anyone out of #1-6 can take that slot, if they are fast enough. If Mysterymason makes his game first, he gets the slot and the rest have to wait. It doesn’t matter that he’s number three, since he’s in the first six.

Now that Mysterymason is out, fuzzybacon becomes one of the six.

1) Pleasedonot5

Mysterymason
3) chitown15
4) Ncio
5) zaraki
6) fuzzybacon

Think of it as cookies. If there is a cookie on the table and six people are standing around it, whoever grabs it first gets it.

How do I know if I can go?

Are you one of the first six posters? Is there a slot open? Answer those questions and you’ll know.

How do I know who are the first six?

Easy. Look at the first six posters in the thread who don’t have a game. (Their posts will be deleted shortly after they make games)

No. When someone makes a game, their post will still be there unless they delete it, until we come in and delete it. So if Mysterymason has a game, he’s not counted as one of the first six even if his post is there, since it will be deleted.

What about game threads in other forums?

Not applicable for now unless they start taking over and we get complaints. I’d prefer to not even do it here, but I got enough complaints about them.

So aC, what you are trying to say is that if you are the first 6, then it doesn’t matter if you are number 6 in line, you can go and make your game, if a slots open.

yes, I believe that would be the ‘gist’ of the thread, walford.

Very good system, the only problem i can see is that the person in first place is continually slow and does not start his game. This would create moaning but that would be his fault.

Yes. That’s because the next person in line has been holding things up each time. This is so those that are being responsible in checking for openings will be able to go, instead of waiting forever.

That’s why anyone of the first six can go. That’s the whole point of the new rule, so that doesn’t happen as much.

I’m on about with the new rule, as anyone in the first 6 can go. If the pesron who is top keeps missing out because he is slow then it will create moaning, but i guess it could be blamed on that person though, for being slow.

What happens if two people make it,it can take a while to make a thread, thread ninja’ing?

I’m confused. How can a game be sticky?

Yeah, I was kinda referring to a couple months ago when there were about 20 or so FANTASTIC CONTRAPTION BATTLES threads on the front page of the games forum.

Yes I can see that happening, but I think it’s better to have 1 person miss out based on their own actions than dozens because of someone else holding them up.

You make it when the slot is ready and you are ready. Type it up in notepad if you have to.

You could do some sort of compromise where the first person in the list has some short period of time (say, 12 or 24 hours) to make their game, and if they don’t do it in that time, any of the next 5 can go.

We did that to an extent, it didn’t work. It was 48 hours and all it did was hold up everything. We tried expiry times, etc. We just can’t rely on 1 person.

And on top of it I got complaints that the time frame was too short and unfair etc; while hearing things were too slow at the same time.

Could you guys (Kongregate staff.)create a new forum for Forum games? That would make things simpler wouldn’t it? :/

Do you remember the preview of the new forum plan? That seems to make it easier. I can’t wait for it :D

How are we supossed to know who is next, there is no list of open games!
