I am just curious, because it seems to be out of control.
Just my opinion though as a former moderator on over 10 well known websites.
I see at least 5 violations of the posted rules, and I just browsed for 5 minutes!
If the moderator team is stretched thin, forgive me and my comments!
( I know how it feels! )

I see at least 5 violations of the posted rules,
Were you one of those moderators who was a stickler for the letter of the law instead of judging based on the situation? The most important rule is the one at the top, “Don’t be a jerk”, and it’s deliberately vague.
Keep in mind that you don’t know what private action may have been taken against individual posters.
If you see a post you think is inappropriate, be sure to hit the “Flag Post” button to alert the moderators to it. We are busy a lot of the time, and it’s easy for us to miss stuff unless it’s bought to our attention.

And I don’t think that the Mods have the time to browse through the threads finding bad stuff.

If you are not lying about being a moderator on ten sites, you must be a bad maintained moderator; I see how you were discharged. Because good moderators are dedicated to the website they work in and not ten other sites. And also get something else straight, not all website forums have the same rules.

Yes, this forum is moderated, though it’s a bit out of hand at the moment.

I am a moderator that does not interact with the general public of a website, so I can’t judge based on the situation.
I am going to use the ‘flag post’ button, but my experience with those is that usually there is a threshold that needs to be hit, say ‘3 posters flagged this’ before anyone really looks at it.
I worked for ten websites yes, and I was not ‘discharged’ from those sites, I left or the sites closed, the situation changed on the website, etc. I work for just one site now, it is a commercial website for science fiction fans.
I have been online for a long time, so it’s not like I was on 10 websites doing it for the past year, lol
CrimsonBlaze: Every site has a mod that has the time to browse through threads, if they are lucky. Paid mods usually have to do this.
I wanted to get a feeling for the moderation style here, that is all this is about. The first thing I usually read are the rules, and I thought I spotted many violations in a quick browse. The rule ’Don’t be a jerk’ is an interesting one for sure.. :)

Kongregate doesn’t keep to the regular rules. Just don’t forget that here your not a moderator. I seen too many situations on other websites and some here when you get a new member who says he/she is a moderator on another site, but then forgets that he/she isn’t a mod on the desired website. It really annoys me.
Keep that in mind and don’t become one of those people. I noticed that you were starting to post allot. Keep it in mind.

Yep, the Off-topic forums have active moderators. AlisonClaire, Frogmanex, FuzzyBacon and Gevock appear to be the most active here (arcaneCoder, also, though he hasn’t been on nearly as much lately, it seems). So yeah, from what I’ve seen it’s actually been more moderated over the past month than it’s ever been.
I see at least 5 violations of the posted rules, and I just browsed for 5 minutes!
It changes on situation, I suppose. The Off-topic forums tends not to be as strict as some of the other forums here, due to its nature.
Just make sure to ‘flag posts’. From my experience, the forum mods are pretty good about taking care of things. If you feel a post really needs to be removed, and you’ve already flagged but haven’t gotten a response in a while, try to find one of them in chat. Otherwise, you can just ignore it.

I wondered that myself.

We check every flag someone sends in, regardless of how many flags it has received

Mods on Kongregate aren’t paid except with a beta test or some other perk occasionally.

Sorry, was sleeping by 11pm last night.
As for the rules: Like Jabor said, they’re meant to be vague. Here in OT, we have fun, but like any other forum out there, we can get out of hand and a bit crazy.

I actually don’t quite like the moderating here in Kongregate that much. Most of the time there’s usually one spam thread that goes on for a couple of pages before anything happens. I personally think that Newgrounds has better moderating :S

If moderators deleted every post that slightly bent the rules, OT would have almost no surviving posts.

Yeah, but there’s mostly just one mod online at a time. The most I’ve seen on at a time was about 4 or 5.

I guess you can’t take 10 years of moderating out of a person! I just ‘see’ violations as if they are glowing!
