No, we’d still move to the new one, because we have 4 Admins there instead of 1. UTAlan paid for all of it and Zanz will reimburse him, so it’s not something we’re going back on.

Hmm 1 question, How come Zanzarino himself didn’t buy the site since he would know which would be best I would think? Since UTAlan brought the site does that mean he replaces SG from being head or something? Does this means you 4 will be running the site? Does SG know of this all?

Just replying from the best of my knowledge:
1. I don’t know why UTA bought the site.
2. Nope. There are four admins: Higs, UTA, Zanz and Xeno. Xeno and UTA are the techies, Zanz is the lead developer and Higs has been an incredible global moderator. They each have fairly equal parts, sort of like a council.
3. Yep, they’ll be running the site.
4. We’re unsure. SG has not said anything or done anything since approximately late December and it seems that he/she is incapacitated or otherwise unable to be an admin.

I feel bad for SG and it was her who built up the forums from nothing to make it the way it is now with the help from staff members and now it seems like you’re saying, Oh thanks for the help and doing all the hard work but we’re taking over the forums and your job so we wouldn’t be needing you, Good day. SG has spent a lot of time dealing with the forums that even she needs a break to get away.

well, SG took over the old forum in the first place iirc, because there were little organised content within the community. Now that SG has gone inactive, I don’t see a problem with someone more active to take over.

Well if SG does come back, I would think that SG will be able to join the admin group?

Alright people, everything’s finished. Here’s what you need to do:
1) Create a new account on the new forums using the same username you have currently on the official forums – http://elementscommunity.org/forum/
2) Use Xeno’s Account Recovery Tool to transfer the account you have here to the new forum – http://elementscommunity.org/tools/accountlink/
Don’t worry if you want to change username later. I can fix that for you after I’ve fixed a few other things about the forums.

I have a question, Lets say if on Kongregate there’s a topic with an old forums link, Would that link re-direct to the new forums sire or would a error/Not Found page pop up?

It will redirect in 75-80 days, if we manage to buy the old domain. In the meantime, they’ll just have to remain broken.

Can you ask UTAlan if he’s going to buy the old domain to have old links be redirected? I think it would help everyone access the regular links they already have instead of searching for every single one back. o.o

We will buy the domain, but it won’t be available to buy for about 75 days after it expires.

Ah okey that will surely work still. :D I have another question, With the new forums site does this mean that the staff or moderators assigned to each board will have a full blown clean out and delete useless topics and such? I think this is the best possible chance to.

Yes, it seems SG had it set to automatic renewal. This may be a bit of a hassle in drawing traffic away from the old forums, but it doesn’t matter. With active Admins, our community can draw away from the decline it was experiencing and start to grow again.

Wait hold up everyone, You’re saying that all this drama was made upon yourself of buying a new domain together with having new admins as SG had set the domain to automatic renewal but no one didn’t know?

Indeed. The main problem about old forums is that they were, well, sgs’ forums. Not really the communitys’. Hence, he was the only one to know things such as automatic renewal.
As a side note, that meant he vetoeed most things he didn’t like. :v

Wouldn’t anyone who doesn’t like something now allow it?

Not necesserally. If i want to start a spam campaign on the forums, i’d get banned. However, if i as a league organiser propose a rule change with most of the community behind me (wink wink nudge nudge at this happenning next season), it won’t get stopped just because one personn who happens to be an admin doesn’t like it.

I lol’d when I visited the old forums site to see all topics locked which on the board there is a “Move to the new forum!” topic made by Higurashi. Well that’s one way to make players move to the new forums. :P
