Gamcraft has easily put itself at the top of the popularity list as a first class flash game in the world. The fact is that it’s game design is unparalleled. the balance is superb, the skill level and game pace is whatever a player wishes to set it to. The options and styles of gameplay are uncountable. All decisions are made from critical thinking and one decision can greatly alter future effects in positive an negative fashions. There are uncountable unlockables, and a skill tree that makes you choose wisely what you put your points into and multiple playing fields for each level. All of these are documented and recorded without disrupting game play. The graphics are great, the atmosphere s appropriate and the distractions are minimal.

So what is this game’s single biggest flaw that makes it sometime unbearable to play?
It’s a very simple control flaw, and it happens when you miss click the wave bar, sending multiple waves at you at once that you, 99% of the time, did not want.

Difficulty is controlled int his game through wave queues and ‘anger management’ both which are controlled on the left side of the screen, the problem is they but use the same click to set those off, one click, whehter it be from pure accident or rapid clicking, sends 15 waves in you face. This ends the scenario flat out even if you manage to stop the queue, 4 waves will end your game.

Is there a benefit of score to queuing 5 waves? More so than 1 wave at a time 5 times?
No. There is no difference. People who wish to queue multiple waves wisely click five times because it gives them more control over the situation.

If it was an infrequent occurrence, this would not be an issue, Because gem bombing requires you use the mouse and one misclick can screw your game up, it would be prudent for the designers to limit queuing to the next wave, one click at a time.

And it would be prudent, if possible, to fix this through a patch rather than waiting for the next chapter.

I’ve been playing this game for a while and never sent a wave that I didn’t intend to… ever. I have, however, sent many waves at the same time before using the mana boost, or simply in the interest of saving time when my gem levels are way ahead of the creep difficulty. So far as I know, though there isn’t a direct score boost for sending waves early, you are awarded extra mana based on how early you send them.

This happens if you don’t click the very top wave bar. In other words, If you click wave 3 it will send waves 1, 2, and 3.

It is, admittedly, a minor flaw-but one that cannot easily be elimited without introducing the alternative flaw of having to click/wait, click/wait, that was in gemcraft chapter 1, and seemed to cause a few frames of score to be missed; the only workaround to this opens a door to cluttering up the options screen.

If you do hit a stone when you didn’t intend to (like at the bottom corner of the screen) quickly hit n, and only more wave will be called early after you hit n.

I always did this when bombing waves to get more early points. I had a bad habit of double clicking due to clicking too fast, like a stutter click.

Game took me forever to get all the badges, I did it the long way by opening every level.

Its an annoyiny flaw and makes me yell when it happens, but its not often enough to ruin the game.
I hope its removed in Gemcraft 2.
I’d say Gemcraft’s biggest flaw is the shakey diffacutly, with some hard maps near the start (like that dam red beetle map right before the first arcane guardian) and some stupidly easy maps at the end (the curve in general seemed to drop down, but the last level was a joke).
Related to this, broken end skills. As soon as you get Dual Gem Mastery, the game becomes a fair bit easier. I think more of the skilsl should be avaliable at the start, but they should be more balanced. If a skill would make the game too easy if given to newbies, its probably going to make the end game too easy as well

I have done this on accident quite a few times, almost always sending 9-10 waves. I simply reset, so it wasn’t that big of a deal.

I didn’t like dual gem and went for pure gem. Was still a huge boost when mastered, though. Still, the skills are much more balanced and controlled than in Gemcraft 1. Might as well have ended the game the moment level 40 was reached…

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…. unless I am NOT understanding the situation….
OR,,,, am NOT somehow doing the same thing ya all are talking about….

BUT,,,, I can send ONLY one wave at a time per click….
I must click on the wave that is “on deck” to be sent in for it to “move forward”….
I am NOT able to send multiple waves w/ only one click……by clicking say wave 8 when wave 4 is the next one to “go in”,,,,egro sending in all four waves w/ only one click.

A rose by any other name smells the same.

Gemcraft spelled any other way is really fun to PLAY.

Please, for the sake of board harmony and emphasis on discussion OF PLAYING THE GAME
let’s NOT focus on such petty & silly things as the easily made TYPO, etc. All it will do is alienate posters from wanting to share their questions and/or advice.

We’re here to have fun,,,, NOT to be criticized for being all too human.

One could offer a very old,,,yet very wise,,,,homilie: Let ye who are without “sin” cast the first stone.

Eh? ;-D

Besides,,,, Leafblower has already brought this to light.
Can we all say REDUNDANT together….
Then,,, for good measure…we could all say it a few more times….LOL

Gemcraft has some flaws.

Firstly some gems are clearly better than others. Oranges and reds combine to form formidable traps and give you massive amounts of mana to spare for the final waves.

Second is the balance between skills, especially in chapter 0. Maximum mana increase and only 4% reduction in mana pool is small and unworthy for early skills, yet some skills – such as red gem mastery is too beneficial for traps.

Lastly in Chapter 0 the difficulty incline isn’t steep enough past the second arcane guardian. The extra modes do not really have to be played.

Also the bosses in the first Gemcraft were a little challenging. The arcane guardians however are simply too easy because they are far too slow.

I think the game is exciting, instantly playable and fun – but it lacks total refinement and consistency.

I find that a monumental part of the Gemcraft series is finding out ways to combine gems in a fashion that lets you win in a better way. That is part of the fun in playing.

The skills, I’m actually not too clear on which is the best for which level, I’m actually rather inexperienced with Gemcraft 0, in general too.

Regarding the issue here, though, I’ve never found the problem with clicking too many tiles at once, though I’m not sure if it’s specifically in regards to when you’re trying to anger the monsters or not, but I’ve never had much of that problem.

No. There is no difference. People who wish to queue multiple waves wisely click five times because it gives them more control over the situation.

In the first Gemcraft sending each wave individual was tedious, especially since the game was too easy.

If it was an infrequent occurrence, this would not be an issue, Because gem bombing requires you use the mouse and one misclick can screw your game up, it would be prudent for the designers to limit queuing to the next wave, one click at a time.

The gem bomb symbol lights up when you are in gem bomb mode, just check it. They should keep the send waves anytime feature to speed up gameplay.

Anyways… you DO get bonus for sending more waves at the same time, you get exp bonus for that level for each wave you call early, based off also how early you send them. it is not smart to just send 5 waves at once, but maybe you send 2, then wait for upgraded manapool, and send the last 3… Since that score or exp is also based on the exp ratio bonus from upgradeing the manapool.

it isn’t really a flaw… it is intended…

Well I played myself trough the whole game once, I have never encoutered any unwanted waves. It’s the best flash game ever made. and by the way the multiple waves give you a bonus.

its not a flaw, if you summoned too many then click the top one to cancel it and only send that next wave
