For the most part, the “basics” which apply on various other games, applied in this game with slightly higher emplasis:
1. ABKB (Always Be Killing Bots).
This could be translated into “Main Objective pays best” (which in this game is to help your bots to reach the opposing team moneyball/base). Yes, Pro/players kills pay you too and they’re occasionally important. But I’ve been matches where lethality has stayed rather low (less than 10 in total within +30-minutes) when both teams have consisted of “good players”. Of course there are situation where chasing off opponents is a rather crusial thing to do (Jackbot/super bot escorders, Annihilator stealing, other annoyances (e.g. backdoorer), etc.)
2. Avoiding death.
Like in old/original Monday Night Combat and numerous other games, constantly dying without making any profress is not a good thing. And especially in this game, soloing (like constantly going 1vs3) is going to get killed when going face first. It’s of course another story if you know how to harash and are able get out of the pinch (“Commandos” are designed for this job, alongside being finishers, but good players are able to utilize other pros/gladiators too (Tank/“Fire Guy” being the most common in this case with his excellent “finisher-move” (“Fire Blossom”)).
Those are the two most imporant tips for this (and for various other games). The biggest and most important thing is something most of the players need learn by themselves via experience due constantly changing situation. And that thing is: “Timing”
And this goes with every-single-thing in SMNC. (Super) Blitz is an excellent and more “safe”-mode to learn principles of this element thanks to various buttons found in-game and due the more co-operative-nature of the mode.
Just some basic-universal tips for this game.
