I’m sure there have been threads in the past, but this is a veteran player wondering if there’s any validity to the “blacklist.”
The theory goes that a given account has a small number of cards (generally from standard) that they CANNOT get due to a serverbased restriction. I’m skeptical, but I’ve got confirmation from sources of various reliability.
My main question is, can anyone provide a screenshot of full Standard set?

hmm i’m interested in this as well. there are a few cards i just cannot seem to get.

Ja. I would have to agree…

Mine would have to be Asylum and Tiamat, and some stupid raider uncommon >.<;

I believe that there’s a number of cards that have reduced or possibly no availability in Gold packs. I was short about 15 cards with most of them commons and a couple uncommons and only 45 rares. After buying a lot of Gold packs I finally broke down and bought 3 bronze packs and 1 silver and I got 6 of the cards that I’d missed.
I know that I’m a very small sample size and it could just be luck, but has anyone else had the same experience?

i am only missing nimbus and elena… so i doubt there is a server based restriction on it

I cannot get a Rally Flag for the life of me

i cant find omega… GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

He’s saying it’s different for every person, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is true. These forums are littered with people saying how they cannot get certain cards. I have 3 Nimbus btw. I would gladly trade one for a Rally Flag lol

109/111 here, I had the hardest time getting a Dominated Hatchling or Atlas, but recently they both came around, and I’ve finally moved on to enclave packs. Even with what I think of as awful luck, I seriously doubt there’s a server restriction. The RNG might have some issues, but I don’t believe it’s that people aren’t allowed to get every card via packs.
Anyone missing commons and wanting to ‘catch em all’ should buy bronze packs, as certain common cards cannot appear in gold packs. I’m assuming Elena is one of those. I had 3 such cards that I had to go back to bronze packs for.

yea i did buy a several bronze packs to try to get elena but ended up using all my 2k gold i had at that time without getting her. since i dont even need her i just quit trying..

I think the problem is that people expect random distributions to be smooth. They are only that way for vast sample sizes.
I count 29 gold/legendary standard cards (give or take 1 or 2).
If we were to buy 60 gold packs the chance you are still missing at least 1 is: 97.5%
After 60 packs the chance you are missing at least 3 is: 70%
Note: this assumes equal probability or rare/uni/leg, which isn’t the case. But it only makes a small difference to the numbers and actually increases the probability you will be missing cards.
Disclamier: The above was calculated using mathematics, so shouldn’t be trusted.

wow that guy must spend a boatload of cash on this (beta) game. it’s his money i guess, well used to be anyways.

Nah, I don’t have a lot of those cards. I just print screened or got pictures from the wiki, and other sources.

Stop being assholes, this coming from a guy with 107/111 lacking ALTAS, TIAMAT, EMP! (and chronos)
I demand shutdown of this TOTALLY insensitive thread!
cry
… no but honestly, I want a tiamat.

About the statement “maybe some cards don’t come in Gold Packs”, it’s all probability as well. I never bought a single Silver Pack and I’ve got 29/30 uncommons from Standard; I’m pretty confident that the last one is attainable as well.
BTW, in Standard I miss 6 commons, 1 uncommon and 6 rares, having bought 2 Bronze Packs and the rest on Gold Packs.
I have 3 Airstrikes and 0 Asylum. Probabilities are not smooth.

I think there are commons exclusive to bronze; or so it seems. Anyways; the only cards I just can’t seem to get… Airstrike and EMP. Rather inconvenient for defense deck building.

Now if we open 60 packs, the probability of specifically not getting any one of atlas, tiamat or emp is: 0.14%
Thus we can conclude the games hates you Icrine. Badluck can only reasonably explain probabilities down to 34%. Below that one must assume someone or something is out to get you.

See, here’s the catch: While pure randomness can be blamed on a lot of things, from the PROGRAMMER’s standpoint, “randomness” is also a great way to HIDE a lot of things. Ever hear of “sadorandom number generation”? No, that is not a spelling error. A sadorandom number generator is a type of pseudorandom number generator that analyzes the purpose for which these numbers will be used, then produces a distribution of numbers which passes the statistical tests of randomness, yet guarantees terrible results. Combined with the fact that this is a serverside game and therefore is not subject to any enforced transparency whatsoever, and it is practically a given that something like this is in use. Remember: Programmers are bastards.

o_O pescado that does make alot of sense.

Magenta, your assumption is wrong, probability is blind, thus it doesn’t “care” which 3 cards you are missing, if he was to miss, say Mothership, Irradiation and Crawler it would still be the same probability of missing those 3 after 60 packs.
It comparable to person who says that the chance for double on 2 dice is 1/6 and then another person caliming “Yes, but the chances to get specifically double 5 like you did is only 1/36”

To be honest, I don’t think its random. I think there’s a card sequence being run through and the time you click the “buy” button, it gives you that card, and the sequence resets every ??? minutes. I say this because somebody I know who saved 300k bought gold packs all in one row and got 8 EMPs. It can’t possibly be a pure random number generator…

this thread is just full of idiots.

That’s 8 EMPs out of 60 packs.
