Would be nice if there is a combine weapon button that can combine weapons together to make cooler weapons. I wanted to make a grappling hook, but using joints sucked because they had flaws.

I think it’s a decent idea but probably not gonna be added.

i can make one out of a pickax and some joints and other things, but i agree with you on how its not going to be added. :3

It’s been a bit slow lately. Why? I’ve been occupied by games and occasionally going to school as usual, but more so because I’ve been working on rewriting the game from a relative scratch.

To be completely honest the current version available is a mess. A horrible horrible bloody mess. This is mainly because it grew so fast and things were added on the fly and there was never a big picture or anything like that.

Currently, it’s a bother to update. That’s not fun. I want to enjoy delivering content.



So, announcing Mutilate-a-Doll: Enhanced Edition. To be released at some point in 2012 if everything goes well.
It’s going to be a huge job to rewrite it all, but hopefully it’ll pay out in the end when everything actually works the way I want it to and adding content should be a breeze.

I don’t have a list of changes planned, but there definitely will be changes. Lots of changes.

What I do know:

  • It will be a separate game. I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t make a sequel, but the state of the current game is simply too bad to update without having to go to hell and back to add something. And there’s no way for me to update it without breaking everything.
  • I will be getting rid of legacy settings (supporting old saves) and make a new format for saves, something a bit easier to manage than encrypted strings if all goes according to plan.
  • I will remove lots of stuff that is a pain to upkeep. In the end there may be less things, but hopefully I’ll be able to make up for that with other things.
  • There will be fire. No longer will launching a barrage of fireballs from a flamethrower result in simply making the doll bleed, or even cutting the doll. The doll will perish in flames.
  • There will be a tutorial that will hold the player’s hand so hard that nobody will be able to ask “how to shoot guns” afterwards. NOBODY.

Now, these may not be huge points, but I’m sure more stuff will be thought of after I’m done fixing all the major problems.

but anyways the “enhanced version” sounds cool…….and like its gonna take forever to be completed and submitted cause all the new stuff seems like itd be really a pain in the ass to do
but it sounds fun sooooooo ill wait

@happyhobo, that’s pretty much what it is. Everything done properly, instead of just piling things on top of a shaky pile.

Also, I’ll be tweeting about the progress so stop by if you’re interested about the development. Not that much going on yet, as I have last exams of the year to study for currently, but it should pick up after a while.

I have a question… The camera action seems like a COOOOL idea but what will frame the camera? we will choose us to frame the subject or she will frame an object to his choice?
In the video the camera follows the rag-doll but if there are 2 or 3 rag-dolls?
Sorry if I made grammatical mistakes but English is not my language, I hope it is quite understandable the question.

I am still sketching out the details, but basically there would be a Follow-property, which can be only applied to one object at a time, be it a ragdoll’s head or a flying sword. If you press the Follow-button on the stage, the camera won’t follow anything and you can move it around with a set of keys as well as zoom in and out.

For the confused: we’re talking about this.
