The 3rd installment of the Bioshock series has left different impressions on everybody. It doesn’t take place in Rapture like the first 2, but in a city in the sky in 1912. Both the gameplay and graphics look incredibly different. In fact, you don’t even use plasmids anymore, although, you use plasmid like abilities. Despite this ambitious step for 2K, the graphics look beautiful and the gameplay seems extremely fun as well. What are your thoughts?

Why call it Bioshock if it barely even has anything to do with it?

Personally, I’m really looking forward to it even though I don’t usually get worked up over games.

because it does and it doesnt. Columbia holds some of the first Big Daddies (and man are these ones big) that were developed waaay before the Alpha series from BS2

It’s because they’ve decided that “BioShock” isn’t any single event, location, or story, but more about concepts.

it takes place in the same universe (unconfirmed, but you can regard it as such) except in an earlyer time and a different location. many of the unique, core concepts of the original are also in this game, except with different names, and perhaps slightly different mechanics. also in art… anyway, it’s like a spiritual successor. makes more sense then, say, Fallout 3.
also Bioshock Infinite is made by the same developers as the original, where-as Bioshock 2 was not. so this is simply their sequal to their invention. they can’t have one take place in Rapture because you would get a canon conflict, that’s why they are silent about wether or not it’s cannon to Rapture.
also nothing that was ever made in the Steampunk genre have been a proper succes, despite many attempts. movies, books, video games… i’m hoping, and pretty sure, this will be the first.
