That’s the whole point. The game effectively uses the block style to make the game more simple (yet it is complex) and appealing.

go play some “deep” games with titles that are random nouns that are the central metaphor.

Also, art style doesn’t make gameplay simpler. way to be retarded.

The blocky pixely artstyle is to make the game run at a reasonable speed. Updating a tenthousand blocks/second is demanding on your computer. If you made the game less blocky (By making the blocks half the original size), the game would demand 8 times the computer resources.
Though you could make it look better with a custom texture pack.

it will destroy the game if you go further than 30 000 000 blocks out
