A reasonable topic on runescape for anyone who doesnt just want to flame

Ok so there are a lot of hate topics on runescape, this is isn’t about me hating it or telling people not to hate it just pointing out that the vast majority of runescape players are highly immature. I played it for a few years and ultimately the behavior of players drove me away. Do we truly want to attract that kind of person here? Barring the reaction to runescape today I have found the majority of people on Kongregate to be reasonably mature, but if we start getting flooded by the kind of people runescape tends to attract we are definetly going to need a lot more moderators and the general quality of the site is definetly going to decline. Lastly runescape is not a flash game it is an mmorpg, it may be browser based but it is still not a flash game.

Anyhow if anyone wants to have a reasonable discussion on wether we should allow runescape please feel free to reply. If all you want to do is flame or spam RS hate please go elsewhere.

Yes I know that, I made specific mention of how people were reacting to runescape immaturely. I am simply worried that some of the population of Runescape will migrate to Kongregate, and that they will lower the quality of the site.

im getting tired of forums about runescape. why doesnt kongregate not allow runescape players to chat in rooms, and if they do theyll get banned? i already told kongregate. and if the idiots who keep talking about it dont like it so much, why dont they just vote 0 and leave us alone!?
And no, I dont like it either, but i didnt even know it was here until i read all the gay forums!

dctaco, I can see from your post on “Idiots on the Hill” that you are very idealist about how things should be run. However, keep in mind that the developer, the person who posted the game, has done absolutely nothing wrong and it has been decided that the game will stay on Kongregate. Greg has said so himself. What disturbs me is the number of users who choose to not only comment and rate the game badly but also go as far as to flame up the developer’s shouts and whispers as well as to make accounts such as “fagexsucksamirite” because of their hate for an ONLINE GAME. Honestly, people are really disappointing me.

I just personally wonder how much lower the quality of this community can get after seeing the rantings in some of the other Runescape threads

Also, how come Jagex gets to post a java game but no other developers can, so far i haven’t seen anyone who has any idea how to port java into flash O_O

Frankly, I think the people mindlessly stating that Runescape should be removed are actually worse than the average person you come across while play Runescape.

EDIT@Korgha: Jagex hosts the client on their servers – the Java stuff doesn’t touch Kongregate.

i thing rs is a good game people stop saying it should get removed its jagex who can decide if it should stay on if you dont like runescape simply dont play

So anyone who clicks the Runescape link should be banned from entering any room ever? I have nothing against Runescape personally just that the players who are for the most part extremely immature, they arent going to just play Runescape and leave us alone they will inevitably play the other games on the site and begin to flood the chat rooms.

Allow me to make myself clear, I dont care if Runescape is the best game in the world I am concerned about the people it attracts.

Runescape has a right to stay. The reasons many of the community members have presented aren’t decisive enough to justify taking it down.

Have the RS haters actually presented any legitimate reasons to remove it?

If they did, we wouldn’t have so many butthurt users. XD

Runescape attracts millions of people a year. However, this most likely won’t affect Kongregate much because A) Not many people will hear about RS being hosted here for a while unless Jagex makes a formal statement and B) Most people will still prefer to play on the official site. Runescape inspires a strong community among many of their better players, and like lawyers, the 2-3% people that are rude or immature ruin the stats for the rest. Now, I would like to hear some valid reasons (HAHAHAHAHA!!) for the removal of Runescape.. but that is for another thread.

I do agree with the thread’s creator that RS is a MMORPG and is not a flash game. However, just because the game style is a bit different does not mean it is not a game. There a re quite a few examples on Kong of multiplayer games that have a replayablity (Doubt thats a word) value that makes it so many users come back to it over and over.

Runescape is a MMORPG.

So is Starfighter: Disputed Galaxy.

NOt a flash game.

Neither are the Shockwave games on this site.

Kongregate is a games site. Not a Flash games site.

Going on the same logic, Kongai shouldn’t be on here since it is a MMOCCG (Massive Multiplayer Online Collectible Card Game).

The fact that Runescape is coded in Java instead of Flash is also mute: A game is a game regardless of what it’s made in, it’s what it is composed of that makes something a game. And last I recall, an MMORPG was a game (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game).

An MMORPG is a genre of game, like Driving or Fighting.

A Flash [browser] game is a game that doesn’t require a specific console.

Swordman, your post makes no sense because there’s nothing to compare among the MMORPG VS Flash issue you presented. 0_o

Actually to counter that. RS is for free, but to get the most of it, you’d have to pay for a monthly subscription.
