Yume Nikki: Creepiest game of the ever.

Yume Nikki is a freeware game made w/ “RPGMaker” (Don’t let that put you off)
and is singlehandedly the most creepy/scary game I’ve ever played,
Counting all of the Resident Evils, Carnival, some of the SilentHills, Imako, Dark Cuts, countless Flash Games, Doom1,2, and 3, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and it’s creepier than basically every movie ever.
Made in 2004, it follows a girl who’s dreams are the stuff that people can only describe as Lucid. You try to collect 24 effects from 12 different areas.
Some spinoffs are .Flow (Scarier, maybe even a little creepier)
2kki, a sort of half-sequel
and the in-progress Dream X Dream or DreamVSDream.
Best part? All of them are free.
OH! And Uboa is watching.

I saw this just yesterday :P It’s not the scariest game, but it is pretty cool.

Creepy is a yes, atleast. When you pair with the spinoffs, it’s scary. Yume Nikki + .Flow = Cancer, clinical depression. Also, both suffer from schizophrenia and hallucinations. Even if it’s a “Dream”, the dreams are heavily influenced by these traits.
Both of their entire families are dead, including atleast 1 sibling.
ALL OF THIER FAMILY MEMBARS.
Also, Uboa ruins the only “normal” thing in the game.

TIP: Play with headphones, it makes the effect of the game(s) better.

I really don’t understand the hype for this game.
It was confusing to say the least and I couldn’t be arsed to complete it [After checking the wiki and finding nothing of interest]
And it’s not even creepy, just silly.
Though I haven’t found any games on your comparison list creepy as well [Why would you even compare it to Doom?]
Now Eternal Darkness, Darkseed, and, especially, LSD – those are what I’d call creepy.

I have to say the ending shocked me. I had expected the girl could escaped from her room :(

The entire game is… well I cannot find suitable words to describe it but I’m convinced only insane people could make such a creepy game. It is said that the creator’s parents were killed in a traffic accident.

Doom had a certain air of “What’s behind me..?” in it. That’s why.
Yes, the ending was shocking. The game was worth it. And it’s free anyway, so…
The creator’s story seems like a sad one, yes.
These all add to the “Creepy” factor.

Sounds interesting, think I’ll give it a try.
