It can be anything, from browser games to console games and everything in between.
- Console: Sandbox/open world (is it a genre?)
- Android: Reaction games (such as Fruit Ninja)

My favorites are turn based puzzle games, like Chromatronix, William the Chameleon or Burger Cat.

games that give you a wide open area to just mess around in. it doesnt have to completely sand box like such as minecraft, but games like jak 3 that give you that big wasteland to just drive around in. i spent many hours just driving around accomplishing nothing.

Browser: Idle games
PC: RTS
X-box 360: FPS
PS3: Platformers or hack ’n slashes
Though, my all-time favourite genres are RPGs, they’re equally as good on each console.

Turn-based, strategic RPGs. Fire Emblem:Sacred Stones being my favorite. The complexity, the replay value, the depth, management, and varying difficult levels makes it the best RPG I’ve ever played.
I don’t quite know how to classify the next game, but Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite game above all others. Platformer/puzzle, I guess.

I tend to hate that style of combat, but if the game’s as good as you say, I’ll need to give it a try some time.
If the storyline, characters, and out-of-combat systems and gameplay are all really good, that should make up for it.
What console is it on?

It’s on the GameBoy Advance, but it’s completely worth it! I’ve played that game at least ten times, and I still have to find every nook and cranny in the game. It has two plot options, 32 (?) characters, many which you need to unlock or woo over to your side. It’s extremely well-crafted for that individual who values a challenge. I hope you’re able to find a copy and play it.

I’ll definitely give it a try, then.
Unfortunately, copies of games like this are hard to find, so I’ll likely resort to ROMs and an emulator.
Would you recommend I play Fire Emblem first, or go straight for Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones?

I would play the original first, then move to Sacred Stones. There is a distinct shift in the game play, so if you don’t like Fire Emblem, don’t swear off Sacred Stones right away. Fire Emblem is worked as if you were a party member, a general tactician of sorts. The second one is more God-complex style, where you move everyone around like chess pieces, unseen.
