And it doesn’t matter how you get the EMS. You can be full renegade or be full paragon and still get the same exact ending.
And like I said, Mass Effect 1 and 2 choices don’t affect the ending at all, unless a slight variation on a slide counts as changing the ending.
And I understand that the choice between the four endings is a choice. The problem is that all of the other choices up until that choice don’t count for shit. The way that there’s suddenly some god-kid with a magic space machine that can fix all of your problems no matter what you did up until that point (as long as you weren’t horrible at the game and got a shit EMS) is pretty much the definition of a deus ex machina.
Just a question, have you played the trilogy from beginning to end? Because earlier, all you said is that you have seen the endings. It’s not enough to see the endings or hear about the choices, you have to PLAY the ENTIRE trilogy in order to get the full effect of your choices. Besides, lots of the fans (including me) agree that the new Extended Cut DLC is 200 times better than it originally was. I have not heard of any people (minus trolls) complaining about the new ending. The way Bioware handle the dispute was good, and many of the fans agree. Mass Effet 3 has been re-evaluated by the fans of the series and they all agree that your choices DO in fact matter.

I don’t see why people bitch about the Mass Effect multiple ending crap, it’s much less shallow than some games which have been praised for that. It’s still not up there with… say Fallout 2 and STALKER: Call of Pripyat where there are not only multiple endings for the player character but for various other major characters and locations as well, depending on the player’s actions.

I’ve been each of the games several times, yes. ME2 and ME3 were beat on Insanity, so trust me when I say I’m not just some troll who has barely played the game.

“Everyone who disagrees with me is a troll!”
I’ve seen tons of people who were still unsatisfied with the ending. The thing everyone said was that while the new ending was more fleshed out, previous choices still didn’t really affect anything.
And even with a more fleshed out ending, you can’t deny that the game randomly pulls a deus ex machina out of its ass for no apparent reason and proceeds to go on a long winded rant about shit that came out of nowhere to justify the space magic it lets you use.
Also, way to ignore all of my previous points and suggest I’m just a troll that hasn’t actually played the games.

The Assassins Creed series is one of the greatest game series but my personal favorite is the Elder Scrolls series. I have to say it’s the best because they just keep outdoing their selves which I didn’t think was possible after Oblivion came out but they came out with Skyrim and they proved me wrong.

Aren’t you contradicting yourself by saying that because nothing you said is about this topic? not trying to be mean or anything, just asking.

I agree with dt|011 that the Assassins Creed series is on of the greatest. But I gotta go with RE as a whole (despite Operation Racoon City) for my favorite. No matter where I was in gaming, I could always jump back into killing zombies (or zombie like things).

I really wrote that post because I realized that I was off-topic. So no, not really contradicting, more self-correcting.
