Lord of War Badge (impossible – 60 points)
You acquired this badge on Sep. 18, 2008.

Thanks to saneiac for beating-2-handedsword guys-without-getting-hurt method. Started with short sword guy, got sweated while fighting with first whirler and ended killing long sword guy. Toldor rocks

Just got the badge using Toldor, starting from stationary spearman (I found him the hardest for me with unknown reason). That pattern makes the ending 2 longswordmen.

I think I got some luck in fights of the swordsman and the stationary whirler. I used the “attack then go back” tactic against the swordsman (wave 6), gladly he didn’t give me very much damage. Then I stand still exchanging damage with the stationary whirler (wave 10) and succeeded. The only difficult part was the battle against the halbardier (wave 11). I blocked and kicked when he passed me. Still suffered from his kicks and some strange slice-after-a-kneebreak-sound ’s.

Just got the Lord of War badge :)

On the moving spearman (spearmaster) after he does 2 thrusts he then moves forwards, good time for a hit that makes him far easier than just using the tactics already posted (with Toldor, obv)

Started on the Prince clone, so probably the easist run possible there since he’s the only one that gives me trouble.

I used toldor, got to about 23-24 kills and gave up on a spearman I probably wouldn’t have been able to kill.

I never came across mage, short sword guy, stationary whirler, dual swords or bowmaster. I got 2 spearmasters, 2 2 handers, 2 moving whirlers, 2 flailers, 2 long sword with shield… can’t remember what else, maybe a spearman. Sorry don’t know order.

The 2 hand sword guys were the only ones giving me trouble until I read this thread so thanks for everyone who said block and attack after overhead swings.

I just read this looking for a way to beat the shortsword/shield guy (also using Toldor), and I thought your guide was pretty good.

To beat the whirler guy I just sit still and spam sword attacks, and if he gets within kicking range you (which he will), you NEED to kick him, then slash him. Sometimes he keeps charging at me so it ends up being kick, slash, kick, slash. I haven’t paid that much attention to him because he’s the opponent that never takes me down, he’s on my easy list (with the flailer, and the archer who you DON’T need to block or be patient against, you win 100% of the time by charging into sword slashing range and hacking way).

“Recimus, until you describe how to kill whirlers, spearmens, halberdiers and long-swordsmes with Aldon, I am not going to belive you either.”

All Spearmen, halberdier and sword guys you can beat the same way with Aldon – jump attack (hold down attack and retreat on your way down) you will hit the ground going into your back slash move where your shield is protecting you. With the retreat attack (move away from opponent while holding attack button) you do a slash while holding up your shield blocking everything. The only important thing is that you hold down the attack and retreat buttons, don’t mash them as that has the potential to leave you vulnerable. Then just jump again and repeat. You may need to do a forward jump on some enemies to get in jump attack range, but otherwise its the exact same thing over and over again. If you perfect this move you can beat most enemies without taking any damage. You will take the occasional kick damage but other than that you shouldn’t get hurt. If you get bored and want some action you can just waste half your health in a slashing match with your opponent and then go back to the jump attack retreat combo.

If you can’t beat the archer and mage you suck and don’t have a hope to get this badge. As I said in an earlier post for the moving whirler you just do guard to wait for him to catch up to you then retreat attack. You block everything and he just walks into your attacks, its not rocket science. The stationary whirler is the only enemy you can’t effectively use Aldon’s combo on, as he likes to backflip out of jump attack range and his long range attacks are extremely fast and hard to time a jump on. You can beat him in a slug fest up to about gladiator 4, Aldon’s forward attacks are very fast so you can get most of them in ahead of the whirler’s attacks. Aldon’s shield thrust forward attack helps a lot as he becomes invulnerable during that as well (unfortunately you only use it 1/3 of the time). I did get the stationary whirler as gladiator 16 down to less than a third health so its probably possible to beat him as late as 6 or 7 but it requires a lot of luck and/or skill. I believe that covers every enemy, if you aren’t sure what to do just use the jump attack and retreat combo.

If the designer is reading this and is still doing updates to the game would you consider naming all the 13 gladiators in gladiator mode? Proper names depending on their equipment like “Rakdok the Shredder” or something like that. It would add more flavour and make it easier to identify them.

Well they are different races each time. So I would have to name each one for each race. Which I suppose I could do…. I’ll consider it

With an Orc,i discovered that Halberdiers are really pain in teh ass..Both weapons same length. He deals more damage, and has lot more health..And what pisses me off mostly,is that if we stand very very closely,he can kick me,and i somewhy – can’t..(Sometimes)

Skrylius are you talking about the moving halberdier?

A little tip there, if he moves on the other side of the screen, you could kick him 2 or 3 times, that gets him at max weapon range. You’ll still hit him and he won’t kick you right after you make an attack (well he still kicks sometimes if he justs comes closer and stabs and don’t go to the other side of the screen). But you should survive that.

i cant get it! im getting mad! the swordman is impossible with the orc!

The long swordman?

Just block and wait till he starts an uppercut attack, you can attack him once and block and repeat again.
You still could try to improve your timing and attack him after a normal attack, but that takes a little bit skill :p

You’ll be safe with the uppercut method.

I’ve killed a whirler on my first attempt by using the tactic that saneiac sayed to kill spearmen

Updated my original post. I meant to do it yesterday morning, but lost internet for a day and a half.

Well they are different races each time. So I would have to name each one for each race. Which I suppose I could do…. I’ll consider it

Since you brought up race. . .

When I was working out the enemy sequence, my notes included both class and race. It looks to me like the enemy race is chosen completely at random for each fight. It also appears that race has no impact at all on enemy tactics. Has anyone noticed anything other than this?

No impact whatsoever, they all attack the same if they are the same unit type.

after you fins out how to kill short swordman its easy to kill him
BAsically the same as the Longswordman Just walk back and slice-Not back attack
You’ll take some damage but I think this is the most effective, The things that piss me off are stationary Whirler, Halberdier and longswordmen Rest Are pretty easy, the ones I fought anyways

bloodrazor, of you move back and strike at the shortswordsman, he will counterattack you with a forward attack, and he has high health! i cant kill any shortswordman

I’m not convinced this is true. The Men of the West halberdier appeared to move more quickly then the human alliance. The skeletal whirlers also SEEM to give me a harder time.

I mean, if you consider all the little glitches, it’s not so difficult to believe.
