The 5th games played award is more than 300, Rubix confirmed this. Unless this gets an Impossible badge I find no motivation to achieve it :P |
The Gold-Plated Zilch Machine Award is 500 wins. |
I have only 50 awards or something XD, i think 5000 or 6000 points in a row is more than impossible |
Actually, you don’t get Award Maestro until you have 60 awards… even though the description says 50 (I had 58 awards before last game, but didn’t get Maestro until now, last game BTW was a win by 50 points in more than 30 turns ;) ) |
We think the third “award award” is dodgy. Rubix has all the other awards except for it. |
Did rubix play a 501st game? It might not register until a game after all the other awards are gotten. |
There is a slight problem with the “Award” awards, I think some of the other awards were being awarded erroneously. In the next version of the game some awards may be re-validated by the system to check that they’re still good, some might vanish from your award list. Just to be forewarned for the next update. |
Tass: Technically I should have all 120. I have well over 500 games, and I have all other awards, too. |
The Montego Award is supposed to be for 110 Awards, but the Award system is currently a bit wonky. |
IMO, 110 awards (maybe 113/114) would make for a good impossible badge. 120 is just…. over the top tedious. I must have spent close to 20 hours to get 112 awards, and getting to 113 would take about another hour. So, yea. |
Yeah but then it’d be too easy to just avoid the award challenges that truly make it difficult!
Got all 120 :D |

Very funny and addictive game. But in hard mode, the computer CHEATS !!! |
The computer does not cheat. You and the CPU have the same opportunities, the same exposure to risk, the same dice roll probabilities… the same everything. If the CPU is beating you a lot, then you are either not taking enough risks because you continually settle for low bank values, or you’re taking way too many risks that are causing you to zilch out too often. |
These are some of the probabilities I’ve calculated for some recurring events in the game: Probability to 1-6s (1500 points)=1 every 64.8 Probability to “Zilch!” (when 1 dice missing)= 66.67% |

If you were allowed to get an Imp Badge off 110 awards, you could avoid stuff like Crushing Score, Impossible Score, Sweet Score, Massive Score, Obliterator, Gold-Plated, Miser Roller, Bah Humbug, etc… everything else is extremely easy and methodical. The ones I’ve listed here are what make this game really difficult. The only award I’d change is the Gold-Plated award (and possibly Impossible Score, because it’s just really, really, really hard to get), because I think 500 plays is a really steep requirement. I am going to ask Gaby if he can perhaps change it to something more reasonable like 300. I had like 115+ awards by game 160 or so, iirc. Stuff like Massive Score is just a function of time at 100% risk-seek. I’m too lazy to do the calculations, but landing 6000+ is actually not as bad as it seems. Impossible Score is really hard to get, however, because you’re basically needing to get a ~+5300 final bank score that pushes you over 10,000, and this can take a while because you basically need to hover around the high-9900’s, intentionally rolling at 100% risk-seek in hopes that you build up something absurd (and then you need to re-compensate for any point loss received from triple-zilching before you can resume your risk-seeking strategy). Requiring all 120 for an Imp Badge would definitely make it one of the harder badges, but such a requirement might piss off a lot of people (namely because of Impossible Score, Massive Score, and Gold-Plated). I think making an Imp Badge off 115 awards would be very reasonable. That way you’re forced to achieve at least half of the more difficult award set. |

I actually don’t think it’s that bad compared to games like Paramedic II and the Necronomicon. I’m not getting as “pissed off” over Zilch as over those two. Right now, I’m hanging at 97 awards and counting. I’ve got all of the consecutive awards and still have a lot of all-time (easy) awards to go. The hardest parts will be getting over 6000 in one roll and getting 15k or more in one game, but that would all be part of the impossible badge I surely hope it will receive. I actually despised the game before I realized there’s a quit button, but now it’s actually quite fun (the awards, not really the game itself). And Kongregate definitely needs an impossible like this. Most newer badges are getting far too easy (even when they’re called hard or impossible). |
The difference between 97 awards and 110 awards is massive. And the difference between 110 and 120 is way above massive. It’s not even just about the probabilities… it’s about the GRIND. Of getting 100 wins, of 1000 zilches, of 200 and 500 games played. Plus the pure luck ones… the 6000 in a turn and 15k. And, I’m way bummed about losing my 10 awards from zilch free games in a row. That’s mega annoying to even consider re-trying to get those 10 awards. So I’m down to 102 now. |
Getting 100 wins doesn’t take that much time though, really, and it comes naturally with doing a lot of the other awards. Getting 1000 zilches also comes naturally too. Again, I had most of the awards after like 160 plays, so it’s not that bad. The hard part is going from 110 to 120. |
My point is that it still takes a good 15-20+ hours to get 110 awards… which is definitely enough for an Imp Badge. Just that going from 110 to 120 takes at least another 20+ hours. Which seems excessive. Even Balloon Invasion Imp, which is regarded as the longest Imp Badge, is only 15-20 hours total. |
Perhaps I am just more masochistic — I think 110 is way too easy because the truly hard awards can be completely overlooked. |
Balloon Invasion can take years of gaming. ;_; |
I played 50 games and got already 82 badges including the +6000, 15000, the +30 rounds and the +30 rounds win, the 50 points differnece win. So it was not that difficult to get allthese. Now i am trying to get the loss with 50 points difference. Than the consecutive wins are doable by reseting or quiting – just a matter of patience. My tip for a beginner: |
to get the win/lose by 50/100/200 acheivements just get up to 9950 or smething then keep zilching, Then Wehn the oponent overtakes try to score the exact ammount you need :) Also while waitingfor CPU to catch up you can attempt for over 15000 Ending and over 6,000 roll |
My only complaint is the 500 games played. I’ve played this game excessively, gotten all other 119 awards, and am not even halfway to getting 500. If Gold Plated was 300 games, I’d see no problem with an Impossible for all 120 awards, but then again I’ve achieved all the hard awards already so I may have a skewed point of view. |
