I plea mods not to close this my post is about Kongregate and religion in general.
Many people blame me for trolling and flaming, So it is fair to give this topic another chance, without me interfering, and see how it goes.

There have been plenty of topics without Nicol “interfering.” That should be proof enough that people actually are offended. Unless someone wants to suggest that it is a mass troll conspiracy?

Don’t push your religious views on other people. If it offends you, then don’t play it. It’s that simple.

I think the game is funny, and I’ve been a christian for 17 years. Tell me, where in the bible does it say that you’re not allowed to play an online computer game where you get to kill mary with jesus? I didn’t think so! If god didn’t like it, he wouldn’t allow it(he is all powerful you know), unless your questioning his power. Well, are you? I didn’t think so. Oh, look, the game is still here. God must deem it fit. By questioning the game, YOU are questioning GOD! You offend me flametank, not this game. You and your anti-christian beleifs! You dare question God’s Power?!?

My beliefs are sufficiently robust that I don’t see any need to feel offended by such as this. What’s the point? Seems like a waste of effort to me.

If it offends you, don’t play it. It’s for the same reason that I don’t go to church. Should I just walk in and say “Hey, um, what you guys are saying kind of offends me, so you should all just go home”? Again, if you don’t like it, don’t play it.

“Do not use my name for evil purposes, for I, the Lord your God, will punish anyone who misuses my name.”
Erm…how exactly is it evil?
And the other verse…that’s not even close to explaining why the game is offensive.
Got a less complex Bible from school. Helpful! :P

That’s the Good News Bible translation, right?
Most versions go with “Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain…”
Really, the part of the game that those 2 verses censure is the fight to defeat God, not the rest of the game generally.

Yeah, Good News translation.
How did you know? >.>
Anyhow, I still fail to see how virtually defeating God takes his name in vain. Sort of…

Hmm. I can see how it might not be immediately obvious.
Have a look at verse 3. Good News version: “Worship no other god but me.” Most versions: “Have no other god before me” (Good News does simplify things a bit, but it’s the one I use the most, hence recognising it :) )
Commonly, if someone says that one thing beats/defeats another they are saying that it is better. Even on Kong when someone says “What’s the best character on Sonny?” they’re asking “Which character defeats the most enemies most easily?” When God, clearly defined as the God of the Bible, Qu’ran, and Torah, is set as a beatable character in effect the game is saying “These other playable characters can be better than God.” Lots of games have gods in fights, it’s very unusual for it to be so clearly defined specifically the God of the Abrahamic religions.
In speech people often say “Oh my God”, or “Jesus!”. The first one, as I see it, is only blasphemy if they see themselves as Christian. The second is blasphemy whoever says it, unless it actually is a heartfelt prayer. This is because the first one could be referring to any god, the second is referring specifically to God. By using a name of God as a common curse word it is belittling it, taking it in vain. Putting the characters in the game is very similar.
The New Testament commandment I referenced is even more pertinent. It hardly shows you “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” to accept anything that appears to belittle God. A game with the defeat of God as an object can hardly help belittling.
So, the game is offensive due to breaking several of the most core commandments. Of course, non-Christians won’t find it offensive for those reasons. Some do find it offensive anyway, that’s their own concern. This should make it plain enough why the game is offensive though to a significant proportion of society.

Okay. And why should it be removed?

Just because it says it’s Moses fighting Noah – doesn’t mean it actually is. It’s the same reason there is no problem (religiously) with Harry Potter books – just because they say it’s magic, etc. doesn’t mean it actually is a depiction of real magic.

Depends entirely on how much weight the Kong staff put on the opinion of the Christian community. I’ve just explained why I, personally, would want it removed.
Going by their own code of conduct:
“Don’t harass others. If you find yourself harassing another user based on race, sexuality, religion, or nationality, just stop for a moment. Think to yourself, “How did I get to this point? What went wrong in my life, where I’m now hurling insults at a stranger in an online gaming community, using hateful language regarding sexual orientation?” You’re then free to hang your head in shame.”
“What are the guidelines for uploaded content?
Although we’re still in the process of establishing specific guidelines for acceptable content, obscene, pornographic, and hateful material are not allowed and never will be."
Of course, they wrote that, and so it’s down to their own discretion how strictly to adhere to their rules. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be removed.

No one should remove it.
First, don’t complain on kong, complain on adultswim, second, don’t complain on adultswim, complain onto the fans, third, don’t complain to the fans, complain to the people who gives a piece of sh*t about things being offensive. anyway, why does no one complain to XBOX? X is a cross tilted diagonally ya know. and why does no one complain to X being called a cross in exams? you know, cross the wrong answer etc.

it amazes me how many times the word “vain” is used in the bible and this one verse, for some reason, people find the need to totally disregard the definition of the word, which is the same definition used in the rest of the bible
what does vain mean? purposeless, fruitless, showy, ostentatious
what does the verse mean? who really knows since its a translation but it might mean do not take your religion without purpose or just for show or be vain about it, because you will not be held guiltless
the game can be considered blasphemous though

To do something in vain: to attempt something even though you won’t succeed.
To be vain: to be self-centered, narcissitic.
To take something in vain: To be insincere, derogatory.
It’s got a few meanings pikaia08, depending on context.

point was the game doesn’t take his name in vain but can be considered blasphemous and that the verse that people are quoting can be interpreted another way instead to not use His name in profane way.
for instance, the verse can be interpreted to mean you shouldn’t take God in an insincere, self-centered way for you will not be held guiltless,
that’s all

I think its hypocritial that you don’t agree with something that goes against the actual teachings of your friend Jesus and and instead attack that parodies it.
