I’ve been searching around kongregate and i have not seen any topics mainly on freeware games, so i decided to make one. Here Im going to post freeware games and fan games that i found and see what people think. By the way if you find any cool freeware games i did’t put on the list, post it, I love playing freeware games and i have plenty. The ones I have are:
Mushroom Kingdom Fusion: http://mkfusion.ipbfree.com/
A great fangame and my favorite platformer ever, in MKF you go around a map like in SMB 3 playing levels with things from Halo, Doom, Metal slug, megaman, and mush more. In this game you can play as many characters like: mario, luigi, sonic, tails, link, arthur (GnG), Protoman and more. You can find the latest versions of the game in the game releases area of the site and you should download the v.0.3.0 (v3.0) demo becuase the save system in the betas are currently broken. So i you have a chance give it a try.

Spelunky: a rouglelike in a platformer, you play as a indiana jones like character and you go through caves collecting treasure and killing enemies. It’s a unique game with chunks of replay value. The link: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4017.0

Fraxy: I’ts a 2-d space ship shooter where you can customize your gameplay a whole lot. You can put mp3s in the music folder to listen to your favorite music while playing, you can choose your hud and weapons and you can even change the color of the bullets. but the thing that makes this game stand out is the ability to make your own enemies! Im serious, in this game you can make whatever enemy you want however you want. And one more for now.

Knytt stories, It’s a very fun and ambient game based around exploration, you jump screen through screen trying to find what you need to beat the level. It’s basic but fun. It also has a lot of enemies to dodge ( dodge since you cant attack), things to find, walls to climb and adventures to do. It saves your progress so you can come back anytime. You can even create your own levels!

Ill post more later :) [OBVIOUS LAST NOTE: i don’t claim any of these games… things or whatever, the games blong to the creator and not me( thats obvious)]

Something I’ve been playing a bunch today is “Triangle Wizards,” basically a cross between a geometry wars shooter and a roguelike.

I remember triangle wizards, interseting game. And platinum, i only know of last scenario from those 3 so ill have to try the others. Any heres some more:

An Untitled Story: Ok so you’re an egg….. and thats about it. You go around exploring, finding secrets, defeating bosses and uncovering the storyline (that still makes no sense). It’s very fun game and it encourges you to explore and examine thing such strange looking walls or torches what aren’t lit. Note on this game: start on normal if you’ve played other games before any thing harder is….. well its like playing catmario except no decietful traps just plenty of deaths. Link: http://www.mattmakesgames.com/games.php its the one with the strange white bird.
Also on that page is jumper, a challenging platformer ( there are 4 jumper games, jumper is the red block guy) and flail and dim, the others i havn’t played.

Cave-Story: The game is one of the best freeware games out there, it’s a mix or metriod with rpgish elements and it works out suprisingly well. It has a well written story, plenty of secrets and multiple endings. If you get the chance you should definetly try this. Note about this game: strangely certain game controllers work with it, not all but some, and if the controls it tells you aren’t working, then you probably have a gamepad ot joystick plugged in. Use it, it helps a lot. MAJOR NOTE: this game is in japanese and will need one of the translations there as well. Link:

And last for this post (more later): La-Mulana
It’s a game about a green clothed type of splenky/ indiana jones guy searching ruins his father has searched that is full of traps and riddles. What you must do is go about the ruins reading clues off of tomb stones and skeletons to solve riddles. The game is hard and challenging but very fun. a note about the game: its sort of a love letter to the MSX system, it has MSX systems tou use for, you guessed it, MSX roms when you find them. finding the right combos will grant special things to you. Major notes about the game: you will need a translation which you can find on the same page as the download( its the patch you can download) and even more important: once you get the patch you must go into the area with the blocks and backrounds pictures and find the one with text, then edit it in ms paint or something like it and change it all to gray of somthing thats no white or blue, other wise you’ll see either nothing or strange orange letters reading things like AB12F on the tom stones and skeletons. More later (note: ill check out wesnoth and exit fate when i can)
