I know alot of people hate these games, and my own interest in them wanes after awhile. But I always do enjoy them quite a bit each time I try a new one. And I was wondering if commercial/high budget tower defense games exist? The closest thing I can think of would be plants vs zombies.. But that’s not quite a tower defense game really.

Anyway I’d really appreciate it if someone can offer any opinions on this. Starcraft/warcraft maps don’t count since they aren’t TD games at all as a base.

also, my fave TD map of all time was… I think it was called at least, “Matrix 10way defense” for starcraft. I’ve recently tried a new version or something of this (maybe it was 8 or 12 way?)..But it wasn’t the same at all, not even close. So even if you can’t suggest a commercial one, if anybody knows any that might be similar to that one I’d also appreciate it >=).

Oh, of course! If a video game genre is popular, even on a small scale such as Flash, don’t you think that console game-producing companies will take advantage and sell one?

A couple I can think of (Both available on XBLA) are Defense Grid (Looks GREAT and is available on PC and XBLA) and “South Park Tower Let’s Go Tower Defense Play!”. Those are just a couple I remember from recent releases; I’m sure there are plenty more, but I doubt there are any in disc format, though.

Immortal Defense is one of the best indie games ever made.

Don’t mean to obnoxiously reply to a dead topic, but Toy Soldiers available on the Xbox Live Marketplace is kind of a TD-shooter-RTS hybrid, and is a whole lot of fun! One of my favorite arcade games

Would Plants vs Zombies Count?

PixelJunk Monsters for the PS3 is very good. Comet Crash is another good one for the PS3. Both are available in the Playstation Network store. Plants vs Zombies is available for the PC.

However, not for the OP.

Apparently the guy who made DTD 1.5 and posted it on his own site earned a 6 digit salary each year from adds. I just don’t know if it’s true…

Wii has a Penguin themed TD game. Might even be called Penguin Defense.
