What is your opinion of this game?
I personally love it, the characters are well developed, the story is creative and well presented, the battle system is good, the graphics were great for a SNES game and there were NO RANDOM ENCOUNTERS!
My only complaint was that the art style was not to my taste.
So what do you think about Chrono Trigger?
In before Carados bitches about JRPGs

I consider this to be the most over-rated game ever created.
I have no idea why skills that depend on your position would be implemented when you’re not even allowed to move during combat.

You don’t understand how it works, that’s why you have no idea.

Could you clarify how it works, then? If a spell does an attack in a line, wouldn’t it be best to move your character so that the attack hits more enemies? Why are you not allowed to do that?

Buy the game for DS, don’t pirate. Pirates suck.

Chrono Trigger is my second favorite game ever. The soundtrack is fantastic, the pacing is perfect and the battle system has some depth. The lack of random battles mean you can explore without being interrupted. Lots of incentive for exploration too with treasures and capsules. I love how the time travel mechanic is both a mechanic for gameplay and a tool for the story.
Amazing game, in my opinion.

Ah, more incentive to play this game.
All I’ve heard is positive feedback about this game, some even calling it “The best RPG ever made”. I keep making a note to pick it up for the DS (Oh how I wish I had a SNES…), but I just don’t have the money, and when I do get the money, I blow it on this-gen games. >_<

Chrono Trigger, in my opinion, is probbably the best RPG ever. It had a great battle system, very good graphics (for an SNES game), memorable characters, a good plot, (spoiler alert) time travel, no random battle (NONE AT ALL), an incredible soundtrack, and it had A LOT of replay ability, for an RPG. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the new New Game + feature and the multiple endings thing. I think there were about 13 different endings, and if you killed a character, he didn’t show up. Overall, the game is great. If you like RPGs, go get this game, either for the DS or for the SNES.

Only a very few spells depend upon your position. The ones that attack in a line allow you to put that line wherever you want. It’s up to the enemies to line themselves up for an attack like that; it would be beyond your control even if you could move yourself. The fun of those sort of spells is taking advantage of the situation you are given. The ones that depend upon your position are just a variation on that, not a big deal.

It’s a good JRPG.
It’s still a shitty game by human terms, but it’s a good JRPG.

Pepsi made profits in 1995 by selling soda, why not shoplift now?

Agreed, the best and easiest way is to play on zsnes. This is one of the few SNES games I keep on emulation and still fire up every now and then.

The company still lose money they otherwise would get. Damage is done.
