As we all probably know, Borderlands has, wut, 87 billion guns? Somewhere around there, but wut do u think of the game and why. Personally, I thought it was well done, and great. It must have been a real bitch to design and name all of those guns though, huh?

Not really, there is a basic code regarding the body/stock/scope etc that calculates the name and stats for weapons upon drop. The weapons stats and names are not hard coded but rather the sum for a couple of IF/OR statements. The exceptions are constant drops but there are only a few boss drops in the game so these represent a small amount of coding.

Borderlands makes me sad, because DLC is basically the worst thing ever.

I haven’t bought Borderlands yet, and I don’t have Live.
Does Borderlands have a lot of downloadable content?

I wouldn’t’ve heard of Borderlands if I wasn’t on Kongregate, so I haven’t actually seen any information on what it’s about.
I should try looking up some info about it.

if u check the borderlands website and look around in the foum… sry i dont have the link it states there are somewhere around 5 mil guns . Of course that will change rapidly as the DLC comes out most likely. The game is pretty easy so if u rent it over a weekend u can beat it and bring it back on moday :)

They haven’t released any DLC at all, but it’s a great single player experience all around. Even if you don’t have live, you can get a buddy to come play.

ya that is true there is no DLC yet. Nov 24th is the scheduled first release of any DLC. There are 2 more upcoming releases perhaps by the end of the year but Gearbox hasn’t made that official yet :)

Yeah.
The problem is that is this the perfect game for an expansion pack, and instead we get DLC.
But console gaming, no expansion packs, even if that would make the better game.

Buy it for the PC. Admittedly its the same exact game (literally, the user interface is an XBox interface), but at least if its on the PC you can get updates (whereas if you don’t have Live you won’t) and be able to play online (its so much more fun to be beating up baddies with friends—one of the reasons I haven’t been playing much).
Personally I love the game, but I wish there were better ways to choose guns; eg being able to choose what manufacturer you want (rather than it being luck of the draw) or being able to add your own choice of elemental upgrade.

It does suck hoping for a rare drop, but a good drop lasts for almost the entire game. I kept my Yellow snipe from level25ish all the way to end game stage. Same with my mod.

>Bought the GotYE a couple of years ago

I know that the last two expansions, The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx and Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution are supposed to be played after you’ve found the Vault, but how do I go about accessing The Zombie Island of Dr Ned?
It’s said that I can just go straight to Jakobs Cove from any transport station, but it’s not appearing on the list of locations to teleport to.
Neither in my Siren’s game, which was half way through my second playthrough when I downloaded the DLCs.
‘Nor on my Soldier’s first playthrough, which I started after I downloaded them.
Do I need to “install” the DLCs on my 360 after I download them, or something?
Are there any in-game pre-requisites I need to fulfil before I can get there?
Do I need to start a new game?
Any other ideas at all?

My friend got zombie island a while back. I remember going to his house and him using the Transport station, and I believe it was mixed in somewhere among the other spots.

Yeah, it’s not even allowing me to go to the teleport tab until I’ve I’ve restored the network, and even after I have, it’s not showing up on the list of locations to go to.
There’s eighty achievements to earn, which means that the downloads should have worked properly, as the achievements to earn have been updated….
But thanks anyway.

I’m not sure if the codes work the same as actual purchase download, but when DLC has had “issues” with me in the past, I’d just uninstall and re-install. I haven’t had to do this with any code-gotten downloads, but it’s worked with all of my MS point downloads.
I’m assuming that the code should process a “purchase” in the system to allow you to download for free. That sucks, though. Still, even without one of the four DLCs, Borderlands GotYE should be quite worth your buck.
Zombie Island’s only real strong aspects were a Pulp Fiction achievement reference and the backpack SDU possibly given with each playthrough. The other DLCs increased the level cap by 19 levels, new vehicles, skill point SDUs, etc. So, on the bright side, it’s probably the best one to not have.
EDIT: The wiki says “The mission Skags At The Gate must be completed before travelling to Jakobs Cove becomes available.”
Seems silly, though, if your second playthrough can’t even access it, though. Either way, I wish you luck.

I don’t know about accessing it (I didn’t have any troubles when I did it a year or more ago), but the Zombie Island was my favorite part of the whole game. I enjoyed that DLC more than anything else I experienced in the game (although I only played single player). Very fun story in my opinion.
