Why do 10 Guitar Hero games come out a year? Milking the cash cow my friend.

Because console games can’t have expansion packs, so they have to sell the same game over and over with minor changes to get a sense of constant progression.
Of course the people who buy these things every year are the same people who are going to end up living in small studio apartments with huge video game collections in their 50s. Learn to spend money intelligently plz
See:
Call of Duty
Madden
Left 4 Dead
Uncharted
Ratchet and Clank
Call of Duty
Guitar Hero
Rock Band

Well notice how people still buy them, every time a new one comes out? They know if they create a new story line with different online modes, people will, for some reason, buy it and think of it as the new greatest game in the world. It’s to get the most money in the least amount of time with the least amount of improvements as possible.
Carados- I see Call of Duty twice and there’s no Halo. :P

To be fair, Halo did offer a substainal upgrade between the versions.
It’s still shit though.

The games sell, hence people like them. People want new material so new games are released.
Why do TV episodes come out every week? It’s the same thing just with some new story mode

Indeed. It doesn’t take two seconds to make a game that’s good. If you can, I would like to see you try.

What the hell are you talking about?

The difference is the only way you “interact” with a TV show is by absorbing the story.

Holy crap, one year? Infinity Ward needs to understand what is the optimal length of a development cycle. Come one, they are just capatilizing on the game’s wild popularity.

They have two studios pumping the things out, just so you know the chances of making a new game.
Hint: Very low.

Rumor says Activision got a third studio working on the next. Three year life cycles now.
Oh, and to respond to the OP:
Remember who publishes these games: Activision.
What’s the main reason video games are made? Money. Not to please the consumer. Sure, that’s a nice bonus to studios with a soul, but it’s mostly for money.
As long as people keep buying Guitar Hero games, they will continue to sell. And really, as long as they are making people happy with their games, and they are making money, the way I see it, everyone wins. It might annoy you, but they aren’t forcing you to buy it.
The thing that annoys me about it more than anything, though, is sort of a side effect of Activision milking Guitar Hero: Soon, they are gonna squeeze the music game industry dry. DJ Hero was a nice innovation, and they need more of those types of things. Soon, people are gonna get tired of paying $60 for thirty new Guitar Hero songs. If Activision would do it slowly while putting out DLC, like Harmonix does, I’m sure they could get a longer lifespan out of the series. I strongly prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero. Not only did they innovate by including drums and vocals (and bass, if that counts), but they also aren’t milking it. They have made three Rock Band games. Total. How many has the Guitar Hero series made? I’m guessing around 20~. Now thing about which game makes more DLC sales: Rock Band 2 or whatever the latest Guitar Hero is?
Anyway, getting carried away. Activision is evil. :X
