In your opinion, what are the greatest and worst games of all time. And don’t say Halo 3 is teh best.

Some worthy suggestions for greatest are…

Super Mario Bros.

Resident Evil 4

Zelda series

And some suggestions for the worst.

Farcry Vengeance (wii)

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

Hey, if somebody wants to say Halo 3 is the greatest game ever, let them. It is an opinion, after all.

I don’t think you can ask that question and then tell everyone not to mention the best selling game of 2007 that holds the highest grossing opening day record in entertainment history.

Its not my personal favorite, but it will be for some.

I just think that if you really think about it, you can find a better game. I’m just afraid of the Halo 3 fanboys on the site… aren’t we all?

No, because people on this site tend to be open minded about others ideas. Even if they don’t beleive them, they usually can see why somebody might think that way.

Just because a person likes it doesn’t necessarily mean they are a fanboy or should be judged as one. I could say the same thing if I wanted about you for mentioning Zelda or Mario eh? If a person likes it, then its great in their eyes and thats really what you are asking for them to state. Fun factor involves a lot of things and if we want to get really picky you could say the same negative things towards those who like games here on Kongregate (eg ‘Flash games and kongregate sucks, if you really think about it you’ll find something better!’).

I do understand your fear of fanaticism though.

Getting back on topic, I’m going to put Tribes 2 out there. I don’t think anyone can seriously make the claim that any of the Halo series are the best games ever in their category if they haven’t played it. It is, essentially, what Halo wants to be when it grows up.

In the RTS arena, Total Annihilation is the one RTS against which all others should be measured.

Incorrect, my friend.
Call of Duty 4 was the best-selling game of 2007.

thechedude: Incorrect, my friend. Call of Duty 4 was the best-selling game of 2007.

Sources are inconsistent, I’ve seen some claim COD4 and others Halo 3. Honestly I don’t really care which one holds the title, because the point is still valid. Its the same thing if he said COD4 instead of Halo and I would have made the same comment.

Yeah, and there’re different definitions for Greatest Games.

Like how I can say that the greatest game ever is Big Rigs, because it setted the benchmark for how low a game can go before it reaches the maximun WTF mode, or ET, because it’s the game (Well, technically, the MAIN game, as there’re others which helped.) that ruined a System.

Overall though, in the definition of the best game in my mind, is Team Fortress 2. It’s an advanced way of playing Scissors Paper Stone, which I truly love.

Pokemon is awesome it basically started an entire generation of gamers including myself, and it brought a whole new idea to gaming.
Plus it comes out with a new game that is actually good almost every year, and i also like the ratchet and clank series.

alright. shane, your post is hard to read, as there is no punctuation, and needs a bit of grammar checking. if you can do that maybe i’ll be able to read your post.

ppl104 your topic is more then 2 days old, but i haven’t slept in 18 hours so i might of missed it on the second page, either way, your topic is mostly dead.

>in the RTS arena, Total Annihilation is the one RTS against which all others should be measured.

Damn strait. total annihilation is amazing.

now without tearing apart other peoples bandwagon opinions about the worst games, i would have to say that the worst game ever was final fantasy: mystic quest, after having fully played through it i can honestly say, i never would be able to sit through that game again.

most of the best selling games now adays does not interest me much, as most of the are really terrible.

some of my favorite games have to be:

#Chrono Trigger
#FFVI
#Robopon: Sun Version
#Magi-Nation
#Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
#Skies of Arcadia: legends
#Mega Man X
#Dragon Warrior Monsters I & II
#Dragon Warrior III
#Super mario rpg: legend of the 7 stars

i think that covers most of my favorite games, some of which are vastly under-rated, others are amazing, just less played by the newer generations.

I think that covers everything, have fun disregarding my post because few people here have played these.

(edit: the list mechanics are funky, so disregard the fact that the games are in xbox HEUG print)

First of all I agree that anyone can put Halo 1-3 as their favorite it just means we now know they are overweight little 12 year olds if they think those games are the greatest ever made. Here are mine:

Favs:
Final Fantasy 5,7
Fallout
Star Craft
Sid Meir’s Pirate (Original)
Quake II
Street Fighter II
Metroid
Metal Gear Solid
RE 4 and 1 Remake
Sim City 200

Worst:
Halo 2 (Took away everything great about Halo 1 and noobed the multiplayer beyond playability)
Any Big Game Hunter
Turok 3
Superman 64
FarCry ( controls and AI made me want to kill myself)
