Jumping through the roof of the buildings,i watch as a girl walks down the street. She looks around, searching, and finds me. She gasps and starts to run. I jump to the other buildings’ roofs and throw a playing card to her.
“Let’s play!” I shout,as the sharp-card cuts her eye. She falls down and i jump on her,put her in a bag and take her to my house. As i make my way the Brazilian Polícia Militar starts following me. I grab a knife and throw at them. One of them says:
“Parado, filho da puta!” I laugh as i run between alleys and reach my house quickly, leaving them behind only to follow my laughter as it echoes in the streets.

I open the bag and grab some things. I come back and she’s concious. I stitch her eyes and say: “Let’s play hide and seek. Close your eyes and try to catch me!” She wanders around trying to find something, and she walks onto an iron maiden i placed in the room. Then,i close it…

I weild my sword and land on top of the man.
WHERE IS THE REAL CRYSTAL!” I growl at him, teeth bared. He gasps, and withdraws a knife from his back pocket. He plunges it into my chest. White liquid drips from the wound all over the old man.
“Yep. My blood is white.” I grin at him, and the blood clots. I stab the man, and hide him in a dustbin. I fly away.
Damn. I promised I was never going to kill anyone again. This means I have to hurt myself again…

I’m now wandering down a random street, still slightly drunk, but overall somewhat better in terms of cognitive faculty. I think I have a headache though… bloody hangovers.
‘Oh, there he is!’
Hmm. I wonder who that could be. I turn to see two females running towards me – one clearly a human, the other a mutant which looks sort of like a cross between a cat and a person – apparently excited at the prospect of meeting me. This can only mean that I have fans. Goody.
‘Hey, um, mister Void?’ the human of them asks.
‘The same. How can I help you?’
‘Well, sir,’ continues the cat person, ’we’re really big fans of a certain fetish… um… this is kind of embarrassing, but, uh… tentacle hentai.’
‘Er… what?’
‘You know, like regular porn, but in an anime style… and with tentacles…’
‘Oh, right, yeah, I saw one of those once… it was quite frankly disgusting.’
‘You say that, and yet you are a tentacle monster.’ Human.
‘It portrayed tentacle monsters as rapists, and I, for one, am not a rapist.’
‘Good thing we’re not asking you to rape us, then!’
‘Good indeed.’
‘Yeah, regular sex will do.’ Cat person.
‘…um.’
‘Well, see, you’re really famous and all, like, a LEGEND, and if we have sex with you, then we can safely say that we’ve had sex with someone famous! You see?’
‘…slight issue with your logic there… uh, ’legend’ does not equal ‘famous’.’
‘Yeah, well, it is the same thing, just… different.’ Human.
‘Different how?’
‘…they’re just similar, okay? Come on, we should have sex anyway!’
‘Irregardless of whether I’m famous or not, I’m almost positive me having sex with either of you would be blatant pedophilia on my part. I am about two hundred and fifty years old, after all.’
‘Well, not really, ’cause you only look, like, twenty or thirty or something!’
‘And how old are you two, exactly?’
‘…twenty.’ Human.
‘Twenty… two…’ Cat person.
‘…yeah, not happening.’
‘Ohhh, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us! Pleaaaaaaaaase?’ Human.
‘Yeah, pleeeeeaaaaase?’ Cat person.
An awkward pause occurs, in which they make pleading faces at me.
‘You can plead all you want. I’m not having sex with you.’
‘Well, two hundred and fifty years old, and still looking about thirty? Surely someone else must have wanted you in the past?’
‘I…’
Damn, they’ve got me there. Thing is, I have had a few fleeting nights with some women… I always felt quite dirty afterwards, though, considering the age differences.
‘Besides,’ the human of the pair says coaxingly, ‘we have some video games you can play afterwards… if you’re interested?’
…damn it. I really like video games.
‘Hm.’

[I’ma wait to post again until there’s a timeskip to the next day. Also, I’m assuming they’ve redeveloped at least some computer games and such in the 250 years following the events of AC.]

Dammit, that guy- whoever it was- hasn’t turned up yet, so I’m going to have to assume that I’ll be alone for a long time yet. I get up. I trudge aimlessly down the street, not entirely sure of where to go next. I go into a pub and order a beer. “That’ll be £2.50.” I hand the barman a £5 note. “Keep the change.” I grab my drink and sit down at a table. Where should I go? I take a drink of the beer. This tastes good. Really good.

[No, I meant to study, which is why I used the word ASSESS. The True King doesn’t need Dominic’s power, silly Jester. Also, I sincerely hope that by “girl” you meant older than 18 or else I will be SEVERELY displeased. That’s the sort of thing that draws the wrong kind of attention and I won’t stand for it. Also BC, I think it would be a bit unbelievable for anyone other than the wealthy (the only ones that can actually spare the electricity) to have video games… which means you’re about to hit some Grade-A primo tail!
@Taiboss: your lightsaber was destroyed at the end of the first game, I shoved it down the antagonist’s throat.]

There is a place in the US, where blazing-hot glass as black as deep space stretches far into the horizon. Terrible images appear from the mirages caused by the heated surface, and many that have come across this field have testified to feeling a deathly chill in their bodies at what they’ve seen. Centuries ago it had been the greatest city conceived by Man, a sprawling metropolis with a diameter of two hundred miles encompassing the brightest and most affluent. Known as Ather City and owned by the conglomerate of the same name, it shone with a brightness surpassed only by the incident that began its destruction. At the very center of black glass is the former Ground Zero, site of the Bomb and, as the legends say, the battle between Cepheus and Dominic.

“Doesn’t seem like much, from where I’m standing,” says David Columbus as he peers through his binoculars into the distance. “It might as well be an enormous frying pan, as far as I’m concerned. Stupid villagers and their exaggerations.” The young man fancied himself a traveling scholar so when he heard of the phenomenon before him David went to great lengths to see it for himself. Stepping closer and wincing involuntarily at the heat emanating from the glass, he makes a cursory analysis only to be wrenched back by a hand on his shoulder.

“You should not be here, human. It’s forbidden,” says the cloaked man, his voice soft as the wind even while it makes his ears ring, nothing in his tone to suggest that he had only moments ago destroyed an entire town of humans. Summoning his courage (while unconscious displaying his actual stupidity) David puffs up his chest to challenge the stranger.

“I seek knowledge, and no one is going to keep me from it. You don’t scare me, mutant filth! Back off,” he says while drawing his loaded pistol to increase his intimidation technique. The loss of his hand at the wrist doesn’t register until his eyes see the gun landing on the ground with the appendage still attached. In a flash of movement the cloaked man picks David up by the neck until his feet dangle a foot off the ground, then throws the misguided traveler onto the glass. His screams fill the air only a moment as the superheated surface melts the flesh and organs from his body within seconds, leaving only the charred skeleton until it too is reduced to ashes.

“This place does not deserve to be marked by history. I will see it fade away… HE must NOT reawaken.”

I finish my beer and walk out of the bar. What to do, what to do, what to do. I walk around, going no-where in particular. Just waiting for someone to shout out “Hey, I know you, you’re that guy I was watching before!” But it’s not really going to happen. I guess I just have to go back to doing what I do best- surviving. I feel incredibly sad and lonely. God I hate this life. Barely any money, no qualifications on account of not going to college or university, no job, no home since my parents kicked me out for being a mutant, no life, no friends, no purpose.

[If I don’t mention differently, all writing made from Sol’s point of view. Oh, and all the names for the family are Latin except Sol’s brother. His name is French.]

Sol

19 years ago [3rd person POV]

“Stop right there, you pacifists! Africa is war and you know it! PEACE IS HATRED AGAINST AFRICA!” the leader of the western section of the African Warfare Government screamed when chasing Sol’s family with hundreds of soldiers and jeeps. Spe, Sol’s father, Robus, Sol’s mother and Lune, Sol’s brother ran through the rainforest. Finally, arriving in a small empty glade, Robus admits something.
“Spe, he’s coming out!” Robus says quietly.
“Oh no! This is the worst possible situation to that.” Spe whispers back. “You just have to get him out as fast as possible!”
Robus works on it for a little over half an four and finally, a little boy comes out from her.
“Spe. Goodbye…” Robus whispers as her last words as she passes away.

Present day

It’s been one inferno of a week. I’ve been living alone for the past… two and a half years and now I’m actually noticing it. I’m seeing illusions, getting insane. I must find someone to talk to. I’ll go completely crazy either.

15 hours later

After leaving my home a couple hours ago (I don’t know, I’m going insane! My sense of time is messed up!), I haven’t seen anything else except plants. Finally, I see a village. Good. And there are some people there. Even better.
“Jambo!” a young man says to me.
“Errr… jambo?” I reply. “Do you speak English?”
“Of course I do. There aren’t many people in Africa who wouldn’t, you know.”
“So… who are you?”
“I’m Akan. I’m the leader of the tribe living in this village. You’re quite pale. You could pay a visit to our witch doctor, you know. Let me show you the way there, you know.”
“Errr… Ok.”
Akan takes me to meet their witch doctor Galla. Galla is very happy to meet a pale person like me.
“Oh wow, you’re really pale! Taste this!” he says and gives me a spoonful of some liquid from a bottle. It tastes like pepper and it burns my mouth.
“You know, I can see people’s future.”
“That’s nice. Now, what can you predict from me?”
“Let me see. Hmmmh… I can see two things from your future. One; you’ll meet a big natural disaster in a couple days. And two;
YOU WILL DIE IN A VERY QUICK TIME.”

‘Darn it! You’re really good at this!’
‘Thanks. Having eight extra limbs helps.’
So, having had sex with both of these girls (as far as I know, they’re really quite rich; big house and everything, plus video games), we are now playing… I believe it’s a Mortal Kombat game? I had one of those before the Bomb… so, yeah, we’re playing that. Except we’re all in our underwear, myself wearing my jacket too. And I’m currently playing upside down, just to give myself a bit of extra challenge. Other than that, nothing special.

[For the record, Void has white boxers, both girls have lacy black underwear. I’ll let you imagine what they look like.]

The crowd gathered around the New York Cities port. They waited anxiously. The boat came through the mist. The crowd cheered, it was finally here! They had heard all about it. The couragous NUO had captured a vicious powerful beast.. The newest oppenent at the colleseum. The posters they had seen. “Become a gladiator! Fight the Beast! Become a hero!.” It had said, there were everywhere the NUO went. The ship came into port. The door openend and several soldiers stepped out. They cleared a path for the beast. The second set of soldiers came out. They were carrying a massive block of ice. The crowd gasped in amazement. They tried to get closer. But the soldiers held them back. The block of ice was transported to the majestic Colleseum. It had taken some time to build but it was worth it. Daily fights were held in it’s brick walls. Entertaining hundreds of people humans and mutants alike. The soldiers went down to the lower levels and open a door. It lead into a large chamber which had been reserved for the beast. The soldiers placed down the ice then ran like hell into the glass observation room. A scientist stood there. “Commence Thawing….”

Azerial
Finally. Im out of my ice prison. I stand still until the last of the ice is gone then observe my surronding’s. It is a dimly light chamber at one of the sides there is a dispencer which probably dispences meat. I devour some meat then look through the glass. “You humans disgust me” I say telepathically. I say nothing else I simply sit down.

Seren, The Angel of Dublin
Twenty Years Ago
I was seven years old. I looked at my hands, sitting on top of a dustbin. They were getting paler every day. It seems to be getting worse. Ever since He did his stupid experiments. I still had the stitches going across my white face. I remember when He injected that… Slimy white liquid into my bloodstream. I was only five, but I remembered it clearly.

Twenty Two Years Ago
I held my breath, attatched to the table. I sensed Him walking back into the room.
“Why? It hurts….” I moan, and then look. He had grabbed a small, white kinife. He walks towards me and places the blade on my cheek, flat. He then gradually twists, and slowly pulls down.
I scream, a high pitched scream that echoes through the cold house. I then feel a sharp feeling in my wrist that I instantly recognise as a needle. I feel pure white liquid enter my bloodstream. A sudden pain. I scream again.

Twenty Years Ago
The memory still brought pain to my various wounds. But i’ve ran away. I want nothing to do with him anymore.
I open the lid of the dustbin and empty it of all items. I then drag in my small teddy bear and put it in. I pull in my small peice of cloth and close the dustbin lid. I get into the most comfortable position I can. I then cuddle up to my teddy bear and fall asleep.

Present Day
I search through the mans body and find a small crystal with the correct logo this time. I smile and put it back in my pocket.
Twenty years ago, I had fallen asleep in an empty dustbin. While I was sleeping, I had a nightmare. It was a horrible nightmare, where I could feel every single bit of pain. I dreamt pure, white, angellic wings burst through my back. It burned even in the dream.
I had woken up and felt the pain of something shooting out of my back. I had screamed and then realised that wings were sprouting out of my back. The dustbin had blown apart, and some people that bullied me on the streets were staring at me. I had momenterally lost conciousness. When I woke up, there was blood everywhere. I had ran, and now i’ve come back.

It was twenty years ago when I could have been frightened by wings and have to cuddle my teddy bear. Things had changed.

The white blood He had injected into me had turned me paler then ever. I now officially looked like an angel if I sprouted my wings and placed a golden halo (Made by mixing gold dye and making it into a circle) upon my head. I was what Dublin called ‘The Angel of Dublin’.
Some of them beleived I would protect them, from dangers and crimes. Ever since I heard this, I had pledged to do that. And thats why Dublins criminal records are lower than ever. I had protected them.
But how can I protect them from myself? I’d killed. I’d become a criminal. I shut my eyes, sprouted my wings and gasped from the pain. I flew into the air and allowed the feathers on my wings to shine in the darkness. I put on my hand-made Halo and started to fly, looking for criminals.

What shall I do? What can I do? Sit down on the street and cry until someone takes pity and gives me shelter? Or just aimlessly trudge through the streets, waiting for some damn oppurtunity to present itself. I continue walking down the street and pass some woman. “Oh my god, he smells like he hasn’t taken a shower in years!” She looks at me and points. She’s managed to catch the attention of every person in the street. One of them shouts out at random. “Get outta town, you lazy bum!” Others join in. “We don’t want your stupid kind here, tramping around, asking for our change all the time. We have enough trouble as it is! Get outta town!” They suddenly all start chanting in unison. “OUT! OUT!” I turn and super speed down a couple of streets and into a deserted back alley. I stop and slide down the wall. I can still hear their shouts. “Oh, so he’s a mutant as well? OUT!” Now they all think I’m a common bum. That’s because I am. I bury my head in my hands and do something I never thought I would. I start to cry.

Andrus

Wood is a good material, but in order to defend the town, we can’t have such a low protective material constituting the wall. Something strong, like steel or iron…. I groan, frustrated at the plan lying in front of me, frustrated at the meagre resources this town has, frustrated at my own inability to improvise. I pace up and down the badly lighted room, badly lighted as in barely see-able. I run my fingers through my hair, thinking, thinking about how I can do what I must do.

The City of the Dying (what a fitting name) has been rather disappointing, in more than one way. For one, I had expected the people to be braver, perhaps to rally against the local mobs. But no, all they can do is cower and beg as they steal the remnants of food left in this city. Yet, the self-same people accost any wanderer they meet, taking every belonging he has unless he can defend himself. They are desperate now, desperate for being alive, desperate for resources. The corrupted police shares the loot of the mobsters, allowing them free reign. In a nutshell, anarchy.

I remember my first day in the town. The high arched main gate casted a huge shadow. Standing at the bottom, I looked up at the faded sign, partially cracked by the strong winds, or more possibly, the lack if repairs. The town had a faded look to it, a dusty wind blowing into my face. As I entered, the few people on the street turned towards me. I waited, my hand at the hilt of my sword, looking back at them. And before they opened their mouths, I knew what they would do.

They began to scream. ""EVERYONE! There is a newcomer in town!" And, like magic, the doors opened with resounding crashes as the people ran out. Men, women, even children in some cases, with various ‘weapons’, ranging from spoons to baseball bats. I grimaced slightly as I saw their poor conditions, their ragged faces, their hopeless eyes. As they got within range, I drew my sword. The movement stopped part of the crowd, probably those that could think straight. The others continued moving towards me. I pointed my hand down to the ground, and felt the swooping sensation in my stomach as a shiver tumbled down my hand. Ruby red flames popped around my hands, and snaked quickly across my arm. The sight of the fire arrested the whole crowd. “Mutant!” somebody shouted, and part of the crowd retreated. “Listen,” I began to speak, my voice sounding oddly calm after the shrills from the crowd. “I have come in peace. If you-” I was interrupted by a man lunging forward, a bat in his hand swinging at my hand. I slashed upwards, the blade making contact with the wood. It cut it into two pieces, my hand pushing the man back into the crowd. “If anyone wants to try fighting me, you are welcome to try. But you won’t win easily.” The people, unwillingly, allowed me into their town, and left me in peace to find an abandoned house. All tows have these…. I remember thinking wearily, before moving in with my few possessions.

As is my wont, I soon managed to wheedle information about the local mob from some people in a bar. They are like the rulers in this town, they having better weapons compared to the poor townspeople. ‘Kilox’ or something, they are called. I had a chance encounter with one of their men that very day. Only, he went back looking rather bad, his clothes nearly burned into ashes. I have decided, much to my own surprise, to help the people in this town. This mob must be stopped. This exploitation will end, or I will end myself in trying to do the same. Curious… I think drily, How odd ideas form in my mind sometimes. I don’t know why, but I feel that it is my duty to protect the people…. I get back to the plan, basically, the plans for the town walls. I had examined them yesterday, and they are weak enough for me alone to bring down in 10 minutes. I am trying to work out a way to strengthen them using the limited resources I have managed to gather with difficulty. I will stay here for some time, probably. Won’t do to have a bad protection from outside attacks. Curse the NUO, with their Metallid structures. If I had some of that… Forcing these complaints out of my head, I use the pencil to modify the plan to something less resource consuming.

Another few minutes have gone past… we’ve apparently had sex again, and are now playing a first person shooter in bed – one of the massively popular Halo series, and I have to say that it’s definitely improved from the first one… I think.
‘So, you guys are quite rich, huh?’
‘Well, not me…’ the cat girl – Jessica, by the way – starts up. ’We’re just friends, not sisters.’
‘Even so, a large house with video games? You’re both incredibly lucky.’
‘Well, that kind of helps when your dad runs the town…’ proclaims the human girl (Alice).
‘…wait, what?’
‘Yeah, my dad sort of owns the place… Argus, he’s called. Have you met him?’
‘I, uh…’
Just then, a knock at the door.
‘Come in, dad.’
‘N- crap.’
The door opens, and the face of Argus pokes around the door. He promptly sighs at the sight of us.
‘Again, Alice? I appreciate that you’re good friends with most people in this town, but there’s no need to have sex with them all!’
’I’ve had sex with maybe four people in this town overall, dad… including this guy and Jessica.’
‘Hey, I remember you… didn’t you claim you were better at me than fighting?’
‘Yes. And then you sent your goons after me.’
‘Wh- I did?’
‘Well, yes. Three muscular guys and a mutant dog creature? I think I killed the dog thing, too…’
‘Well, I certainly never gave any orders for such a thing to happen… maybe they overheard me, and got the wrong idea. I apologise gravely for the incident.’
‘So you didn’t send them?’
’I’m not that sort of guy… yes, there are some people who run towns that are total douchebags, but I’m not one of them. Damn stereotypes.’
‘I totally know where you’re coming from, man! Just now, I- …er.’
‘…Aliiiice…’
‘…I swear I didn’t just have sex with him for the tentacles, dad.’
‘Me neither. He’s hot either way.’
‘So glad you think so, ladies.’
‘Regardless of the fact he’s two hundred and fifty years old or something?’
‘I was averse to having sex with them for the same reasons as you at first. Gah, why did you remind me…? Now I feel like a pervert.’
‘Are you not?’
‘Well, no. Stereotypes, and all…’
‘Ah, yes. Touche.’
‘Aaaaaanyways, you wanna join us? We’re playing Halo.’
‘Uh, I think I’ll pass. You… have fun with them, I guess.’ He promptly leaves.
‘…see, Alice, you look human, but with Argus as your father…’
‘My mother is a human, so… I guess I’m half-mutant, or something?’
‘Can you get half-measures in mutancy?’
‘I dunno, Jess… what do you think, Void?’
‘Probably not; you either have mutations or you don’t.’
‘Guess I got lucky, then.’
‘And I didn’t?’
‘Well, you got REALLY lucky, I suppose… speaking of which, I’m gonna leave the game for a while, Jess.’
‘Well, we can’t switch you out now… we’d all have to log out.’
‘God, I can’t believe Bungie STILL haven’t fixed that issue.’
‘I know, right, Void? It really sucks that a key issue hasn’t been addressed yet.’
‘Yes, yes, logging out is a terrible, terrible thing. Now, if you’ll excuse me…’
Alice slowly moves under the sheets.

Lanarus

It had to have been a long time since he had last begun floating, but after falling asleep, the blue mutant can no longer tell. At any rate, the raft seemed to have stopped inside a small collection of water that had cut off from the main stream. Rising, Lanarus squinted as the sun hit his eyes, which soon adjusted to the light. A light hop, and he had once again begun walking the trail to nowhere. Or at least that was the plan. For the clouds became dark, and the wind had picked up, the air blowing around filled with moisture that was so close to falling. His pace quickened, and he began to run in the direction of a city, but the only trace of a sign was the post it had stood on, the remaining remnants gone. Unwavering in the face of unknown possibilities against what was sure to be a heavy storm, he kept going on.

You are quite strong, mortal. I commend your ability to retain cognizance in my presence. Nevertheless… I’m sure you wish desperately to die. The amusement in his ‘tone’ (since I’m not sure he even has a voice that my ears can understand) brings its own wave of pain with it. Still, my body has long since shut down from overexposure to agonizing stimuli, leaving only my soul to erode in the True King’s presence. Truly, you are fine sport Dominic. I feel your spirit respond gloriously to my ministrations. I shall enjoy the coming ages. A sudden chill, colder than anything I had ever felt, engulfs me as the darkness deepens impossibly. This is my home, the Abyss. Step inside and feel the depths of my hospitality, mortal. I can only struggle feebly against the pull, whimpers dribbling from my open mouth and eyes rolling up into my head.

Lanarus

Under the guise of the torrent of wind which surely lead thunder and rain, Lanarus was able to slip into the unknown city. As he did so, Nature itself seemed to recognize the lack of urgency for his need for shelter, for he could find anywhere in this densely populated, yet currently retracted town. And as the rain began to fall while the wind made it bitter, he allowed the thick masses of what counts as hair on his body to glide over to cover his eyes. They drooped back to regular an instant later, and he gave one last sprint thirty feet to his right. There, a sewer grate covered a rotten, yet safe sanctuary among the dark. Wasting as little time in the cold as possible, he managed to slide it over enough for his body to be granted access, and replaced it. Now sliding to the bottom, he was left listening to the storm above, as he slowly fell asleep.
