More often than not, I’d imagine that a mere synopsis doesn’t do an anime justice.

True, but there is literally no reason to watch/play/read anything without supernatural. Superpowers make everything better.

Now, now. That’s insulting. Supernatural is to art what sauce is to meat.
And I long for a nice steak that wouldn’t be overpowered by sauce. Just pure beef, maybe some salt and pepper.
Actually, I’ve had some. Tasted really good. But a proper mundane RP – still waiting on that.
Restrictions breed creativity, you know. Scaling a wall is harder when you can’t fly.

[I’ve never liked sauce.]
[The reason no-one wants to make a mundane RP is that there’s really nothing interesting about it to them. The whole point is apparently to play a different role, and you can’t really make interesting things happen. You can only really draw from your own experiences, you can’t really have a big dramatic plot where you work in clever metaphors and you can’t out-Godmod other people or use overpowered powers. It’d be like watching Coronation Street, except you’d actually have to do something. If people here wanted to just talk, they’re open to do so right here.]
[Then again, one could argue that we are all playing the roles of ourselves or internet personas or something, therefore this is a mundane RP.]
[But that’s pretty far-flung.]

No, no, I’m pretty sure Supernatural is to art what flushing is to a toilet. It works without it, but then it’s kinda shitty.
Literally everything goes better with superpowers.
But a proper mundane RP – still waiting on that.
Once the novelty of playing a mundane RP wears off, it gets kind of boring. I’ve played some games where you play a normal life, but it usually goes towards the competitive strategy or mini-game direction, since otherwise it’s incredibly dull.
[I guess someone could run some D&D type game where everybody can only gain levels in Commoner.]

So meta.

I do prefer the presence of supernatural stuff in fiction. Without them, novels will feel a bit dull to me. But if it’s manga or anime, I can probably do without supernatural elements, if the art is pretty enough to look at.
As for RPs, well… I think Kidudeman pretty much summed up why a mundane RP might not work out so well. Besides, I have a feeling that even in a mundane RP, people will try to make characters like martial arts champions, special agents, professional assassins, etc. Or go another route, and make crime lords, CEOs of megacorporations, political leaders, you get the idea. I’m almost willing to bet (the only reason I’m not willing to bet is that I’m never willing to bet due to extreme paranoia) that I won’t be the only one, or even the first one, to try to munchkin even in a mundane RP. It is the nature of people to want to be better than other people, if only by proxy.

No, I don’t think so. Anything that further widens the gap between the strong and the weak, in any sense of these words, generally tends to make the world a worse place. Imagine how bad a regular dictator can be, then imagine one with enough supernatural powers to win a war all by himself.

Like Voldemort? Yeah, Voldemort is an awesome dictator with superpowers.

Awesome if you’re the dictator. Not so much if you happen to be on the other side.

Yeah, but then you have a great setting for a hero to rise up and defeat the dictator.

Well, he kind of lost a war. Most people agree that when you lose a war, you did something wrong.
That, among other things.

You just violated § 3h of the Verbotsgesetz 1947, and you will be sentenced to 1-10 years of prison sentence

And that’d be pretty cool too.

It is quite possible that the university thing I’m attending is relevant to this. Now I only to have to stay on it.

This is why Registeel’s sprite was changed.
