Interesting concept, eating the wurm. It does in fact have a good ammount of power stored in a special gland, unless I sensed wrong. I walk to the corpse of one worm. Igniting my hand, I reach into the worm and pull out the gland. Lighting the hand on fire wasn’t nessacary, but it’s fun to show off a bit. The gland is hot, to say the leat. Very. Chilling the meat like he suggested might be a good idea. “If you didn’t mind…” I say, motioning at the gland. Considering that he just mentioned chilling the meat, what I wanted was implied. The spirit cooled the meat to an eatable temperature. I take a bite of it. “I’ve tasted worse.”

I move up to one of the beasts and slowly move my hand towards it, I retract a little when I feel the heat buy I rip a bit off, then start chewing on the rich meat. It is surprisingly good, I start ravenously tearing meat off of the wurm. I flinch when I hit the molten blood but it has cooled since thier death, hopefully it wont turn to rock before I’ve finished eating. I find a small sac which I assume is the thing’s heart, it is connected to the magma veins of the creature. I carefully extract it and consume the strange organ, feeling a rush of energy flowing through my body.

[Sorry for the long hiatus, guys. End of the school year, and everything was piling up; but now it’s all done. I still have the final exams, but come on. Studying is for weaklings. Right, guys?]

James Hawking

I should’ve known never to judge people, or Demons, by appearance. That tree woman looked petite and frail, but was surprisingly powerful. And this little girl… when hit by a geyser of that venom, rather than paralysis, she instead began to spout words that quite honestly surprised me. I made a mental note to be wary, should I come to argue with her in the future.

And then she threw a huge lump of reddish golden metal that crushed the tree woman against a real tree behind her.

Shade threw his newly acquired spike weapons at the tree woman’s arrows and sprites, knocking them down and piercing them. The geyser he dodged with ease. And I… With the last bit of power in me, I made my armor break apart and quickly transform into a wall of red stone, just before a geyser and two arrows slammed into it. Luckily my hastily constructed shield held, else I was not sure if I could survive that blow…

Now Shade was onto the tree woman, multiple spiked tentacles impaling her body. No, not in that way, Hell forbid. She let out another shrill cry, which then quickly died down to nothing. She was probably exhausted too, and what little energy she had left was just absorbed by Shade, killing her.

So… We won, against all odds. Though I had less to do with it than I would’ve preferred, I thought bitterly. “…you two, get me something to eat,” I grumbled before collapsing in fatigue.

[Now, the timeskip. Several more posts will be made after this.]

[Also, I edited his profile to say that James can manipulate the shape of a piece of Abysstone if he’s touching it.]

Somewhere in outer space

The fabric of spacetime was ripped open, a wormhole spewing darkness and fire and destruction from another world that threatened to consume even the other side of the portal. An enormous tentacle erupted from the hole in existence, reaching toward a blue planet that sat blithely unaware of its imminent doom. Then…

Ţ͘͞H͜Į̷̀NK ҉Y̷҉O̴Ư̢ ̸C҉Á̧͞N̶̸ ̵͢͜M̸ȨS̶͢Ş́͠ ̨WI̶̕͟T̕͠H͢͠ M̀͏͟Ỳ ͘͘U̢͘N̢͠͝I̸V͘͠EŖ̴S̕E͢?͟!

A colossal blade, composed of some unknown energy that was somehow colorless, appeared to materialize out of nowhere to sever the tentacle from its base. The sword of nothingness then expanded to engulf the tentacle whole, assimilating the limb into whatever unseen entity that created the blade.

N҉̀O̵W̸ G͞ET҉ ́T͞HÈ̕ ͞͠F́͠U͝CK̶ ̕͜O̢U͠T̷̨͘.̡

Tendrils of nothingness seeped out of nothing to twine around the hole in space. Pulling the fabric of existence like how one would pull actual fabric, the portal was forced shut, and what little power that leaked from the other side nigh instantaneously licked and sipped dry by the abominable entity who had just spoken. Said entity then chose to physically manifest, as a perfectly normal fair-skinned, dark-haired human male, but with the essence of a hundred universes contained within his eyes. With those eyes Khaos gazed at the two figures floating in space, unconscious, having barely escaped the destruction of their own universe.

M̨͜ÈH̛.̀͟͞.̷̀.̸͢ ̕W̛͝H̡͠A̢T͘E̶VE̶͞R̵̶̸.

A casual sweep of his arms, and a wave of power washed over the unconscious and dying young man and woman, obliterating their physical forms and saving them from the agony of death. However, the moment the man’s soul left for the afterlife, another rip in the fabric of space tore itself open, spilling out a myriad of mundane objects. A single one of them, what appeared to be an intricately forged sword made from an alloy of metals not found in this world, caught the multiversal overdeity’s ever-shifting attention. His lips twisted into a smirk.

H̨E̡H̸,̡ M̡̀I͏̡͜G̸HT̛̀ ̴͠A͟͢S ̧͢Ẃ̕͢E͜Ļ͠L҉̵.͢͢.͜.̢͢͝

Another wave of power, and all the other objects that had just spilled out of the dying man’s pocket dimension hurtled with great speed toward the sword, crushing together and transforming into the same alloys that the fantastical blade was composed of. Unable to contain the great power within the sword, the newly formed meteor quickly exploded into thousands of multicolored meteorites, which crashed toward the peaceful blue planet. Khaos grinned at the result of another of his random, unpredictable whims.

Wu Shuang

The moment his spiritual body spawned, all the spirit energy in his vicinity was rapidly drawn to him as though by a spiritual vacuum cleaner. Moments later the Angel fully formed, his birth stripping away all ambient energy of Light within kilometers.

Tsukishiro no Tenshi noticed the disturbance at once. He flash-stepped to the center of his Celestial Node where the Angel spawned. The newly spawned spirit was a lanky man, showing hints of both Asian and European heritage, though his pristine white robe decorated with blue runes was purely Chinese in design. The man’s long black hair fluttered at Shiro’s flash-stepping arrival, and confusion clouded his otherwise piercing icy blue eyes. Like Shiro, the newborn Angel had no wings.

But what concerned Shiro the most was that this new Angel possessed powers far, far greater than any newly born spirit should possess. In fact, his power was a sizeable fraction of Shiro’s own.

Despite this, Shiro spoke. “Welcome to Celestia, young Angel. What is your name?

“…Wu Shuang,” he said. The cautious look in his eyes told Shiro that this young man was very aware of Shiro’s overwhelming power. “I do not remember much else. Are you able to enlighten me?”

Cheryl Smith

All Demons in the gladiator pit, contestants and observers alike, cried out in shock when all the energy of Darkness in the air was suddenly drained away into a single point somewhere near the center of the arena. The black power mashed together, coalescing to form the body of a single newly spawned Demon. It resembled nothing more than a petite human woman of mixed Asian and white descent, with shoulder-length fiery red hair, clad in a flowing black kimono decorated with crimson cherry blossom patterns. Her only vaguely inhuman characteristics were her pale skin that contrasted with the dark color of her clothes, swirly, the fiery blood red tattoo-like markings all over her pale skin, and blood red eyes with slitter pupils and pitch-black sclera.

The Demons examined her. Newborn Demons spawning right into the middle of an Infernal pit match was not unheard of, though the poor infantile Demons in question were usually devoured rather quickly by the pit fighters or guards. However, this new female Demon was far, far more powerful than any newly born Demon should be; the very fact that all the Darkness within several kilometers was required to construct her spiritual body was enough proof. Many of the more astute Demons, or ones more adept at energy sensing, began to back away in fear. The woman simply surveyed her surroundings in confusion.

“No one interrupts my fights, bitch!” One of the more powerful Demonic gladiators snarled angrily. With a burst of super speed the black minotaur-like monster raised its gigantic axe to smash down on the woman from behind, the strike enhanced by a powerful gravitational wave. What the minotaur, and mostly everyone else, failed to notice was that the woman was glowing with faint, ethereal, pale red ghostly flames. The woman sidestepped the minotaur’s attack effortlessly, as though she had foreseen the attack coming. She quickly turned around and raised her arm, unleashing a massive torrent of eerily heatless black and red flames that engulfed the minotaur completely. One agonized scream later, the minotaur was no more, charred completely to ashes.

“Restrain it!” The pit overseer bellowed. He did not like his tournament disturbed by some newcomer.

Not daring to incur the overseer’s wrath, the horde of Demons that were previously fighting one another all leapt to attack the newly appeared female Demon. Quickly glancing around, she spread her arms wide, and a spherical wave of translucent grayish black energy rapidly spread from the center of her being to cover the attacking swarm. All of their ranged attacks, spirit energy blasts of various shapes and sizes, nigh instantly disintegrated and faded away; many of the weaker Demons suffered that fate as well. Of those that survived, their abilities simply ceased to function. Howling in rage, they moved in to physically attack the woman. But before they could do so, the dark fire the woman had unleashed seconds ago suddenly blazed to life once more, this time taking the shape of millions of burning black and red cherry blossom petals that swirled around to engulf and consume her attackers. They took the shape of thousands of fiery dark katana blades, mercilessly impaling and scorching her enemies until none remained.

“Wha…what?!” The overseer exclaimed in shock and fear. In mere moments, this newborn Demon had slaughtered every single spiritual being around her save for the overseer himself! She was… she was stronger than him!

The woman walked toward the shivering overseer. Ghostly pale red fire coalesced to form a wakizashi of the same colors. Before her target could react, the woman quickly stepped forward to stab the overseer in the head with her newly formed short sword. Instinctively screaming out, the overseer was surprised to find that there was no pain. As the woman pulled back, her brows furrowed, as though trying to digest some newly acquired information.

“Infernus…” She murmured. “Hell… Why am I… Who…” She began to walk away.

“Wait!” The overseer shouted. “If you think you can-”

Copious amounts of dark fire exploded from the woman again, this time taking the form of a gigantic flaming crow that swooped down on the overseer. He felt a moment of searing, scorching agony before all went black.

As the woman absorbed her fire, plus the overseer’s ashes and energy, into herself, she looked into the distant dark horizon and sighed. No matter how she tried, the only thing she could remember was that her name was Cheryl Smith. Nothing, not even her clairvoyant power, could give her any other information. “Who am I…” She whispered to herself as she wandered into the hellish expanses of Infernus.

[Wu Shuang and Cheryl Smith are my characters in The World After that survived the game’s end. I’m putting them into my own game.]

So… About a day passed. It seemed that spirits like us didn’t really need to sleep, unless we’re really tired or something. The Angels had lots of tents and stuff set up, and occupied all the inns and such in this little forest village, so at least I got a place to sleep. It wasn’t as nice as my bed back on Earth, but now was not the time to think like a spoiled rich girl. Also, I got a strange vibe that some of the Neutral Spirits weren’t really happy to see us staying here. I knew we saved them from Demons and such, but to me it seemed that the Angels just decided to occupy the village and make all the decisions for those Neutral Spirits. Also, I really hoped I was wrong, but there seemed to be some sort of discrimination going on, for some Angels against Neutral Spirits at least… Were Angels not as nice as I previously thought…?

Anyways, now a bunch of us Angels stood at the outskirts of Agribestia, along with some Neutral Spirits, ready to embark on a journey to find and awaken the Green Guardian. According to the legend some other Angels told me, the Guardians were created by God to shape Mediorum, and they went to sleep because they didn’t want to get involved in the war. And now we’re asking for their help. Yesterday the Angels were asking for volunteers to go with them on this little expedition, since they couldn’t let any of the especially important and powerful people go. I instantly agreed; I’d do whatever I can to help, and, well… I just didn’t want to fight and kill anymore. If I went to this expedition instead of participating in the war, I wouldn’t have to fight as much, right?

“Excuse me, but, um, do we have any idea where we’re actually going?” I nervously ask our expedition leader, a gray-furred werewolf-like guy aptly named Romulus Wolfsbane.

“I’d like to say yes, miss, but unfortunately not,” said Romulus with a little sigh. “Even after thousands of years, the innards of the Great Forest of Khloraeum remains largely unexplored. We only have Sir Felis’s notes to go on, but I’m afraid that’s not much.”

Felis… Hilarious? Wait, no. Hilarius. Yeah… He’s, like, the disappeared member of the Agribestian council who went to look for the Green Guardian long ago. “So, like, we’re just going toward some general direction?” I asked unsurely.

“That is pretty much it, sadly. But we don’t exactly have any other choice, hmm?”

The white sigils on Shadow and Brauner’s purple Legionnaire rings suddenly burned hellish red. They felt a presence in their minds, softer than the wind and heavier than mountains.

A group of Angels and Neutral Spirits near your location are setting out on an expedition to locate the Green Guardian. Follow them, but hide your energy signatures and do not make your presence known. Further instructions will be given when necessary.

[Everyone who is coming to the expedition, please make at least a short post saying that you’re coming. Right now we’re just starting to venture into the edges of the Great Forest, so there are still trails available, and not many wild Automatons attacking.]

I hiss as I put my claws away and don my classic attire. I begin to scrawl in the ground with a finger.

“We must move as instructed, it seems. Shall we?”

Something about this being struck me as off-kilter…like there was something just not right about him. It’s best that I do not think upon it too much.

The four spirits gazed at the entrance of the lava cave that resembled the maw of some hungry beast. The heat coming from it was intense, but not unbearable. “This place is not called the Doomcave for nothing, young ones,” Blue warned. “Few who ventured into it ever returned alive, and of those to return alive none ventured far. Now yes, this is indeed an exciting place, but I must ask you to reconsider before entering,” it said, looking at Jake and Ralsael; these two never confirmed outright that they wanted to see the same excitement that Proctor wanted. "Please do not hold me responsible for your potential deaths.

So I recovered, once again thanks to Shade’s inversion field transforming my fire into a healing power. I didn’t like being reliant on others so much, but only few could survive in Hell alone. Bits and pieces of memories told me that I was a charismatic leader sort of person in life. My lips curled bitterly; in my current mindset there was no way I could be a leader. And there it was, that horrible empty feeling again, yearning for something that continued to slip from my grasp…

At least now I learned a new way to use one of my abilities. I flicked the red stone blades extending from my back, shoulders, and arms, causing them to flow like blood and magma yet without losing toughness and debilitating power. Using my ability in such a way still required practice, but it saved my life once already.

“So what do you want to do now?” I asked Shade and the little girl. Violet, that was her name. It made my spiritual blood burn in cold rage to see a little girl like her thrown down here in this hellish place. “I assume you don’t like the pits…?” I asked Violet. Because presumably little girls like her disliked violence.

Feralsin was feeling better and we were standing towards the outer edge of our camp. “So your arm is better, Feralsin?”

He grunted, “Yes. Although if I ever see that demon again…” He made several strangling gestures.

I chuckled, “Feralsin, your thirst for vengeance is humorous.” The smaller Angel looked up at me quizically. He took a breath to say something, then pointed out past me towards the farthest edge of our camp. I turned around and saw a group of Angels and some Neutral Spirits. “What do you think they’re doing?” Feralsin crouched down and morphed into full wolf and started to trod over towards them. _I guess we’re going to find out. _ I followed close behind him and soon I saw the Angel who had played the piano the other day and told Feralsin to follow me. As we got closer I recognized another Angel standing close by her as an expedition leader. Well, I guess that’s the expedition.

We stopped close to the expedition leader and Feralsin morphed back into wolf-human form. “Sir, this expedition, what is it for?”

Feralsin spoke up, “And are you taking volunteers? We’re eager to do something.” I mentally grimaced, Feralsin was always either silent or almost over eager to go somewhere and, as he said, do something.

“Well Infernus is way too boring… And when I got to the Middle place it wasn’t much better. This is the only think that will quench this urge in my very gut. I am going to see the Red Guardian with my own two eyes, even if I end up dying for it. I am determined.” I turn around to face the angel. “What about you?”

Ralsael

“I doubt we will survive this cave too… but I need to try to see if I can talk with the Red Guardian himself.”

Aeden Silverrain

The silver-haired, elfin Angelic leader of the expedition examined the two fellow Angels who had just volunteered to come along. The other leader, a Neutral Spirit by the name of Romulus Wolfsbane, was apparently busy talking to some girl he barely knew. Aeden sighed in annoyance; he did not like explaining things twice. “Have you two not heard yesterday? We are embarking on a little journey to find and awaken the Green Guardian of Mediorum. Of course, you two are welcome to come along if you wish.”

Infernus is boring? The water spirit wondered if Proctor had ever been to the pits. “Very well then, young ones. Let us proceed!”

As they stepped into the cave, Blue frowned. There was a minuscule, almost completely unnoticeable scent of Darkness around the entrance, different from Proctor’s Demonic energy signature. And the lava golem that usually guarded this Doomcave entrance was nowhere to be seen. Could this be… The young ones did not seem to notice, so Blue ignored it and continued.

The cave would be pitch black, if not for the fact that red-hot magma suffused the entire space with a reddish orange glow. They were in a fairly spacious cavern, with molten stalactites from the ceiling dripping lava into pools of various sizes. It should be common sense to avoid those drops.

[This isn’t a game where I throw monsters at you all the time and parse your actions. You guys decide what happens. You’re in a large maze-like lava cave filled with various fire, earth, and magma-based monsters.]

Joshua learned about the expedition recently, and felt like helping out the peo- souls. Some of the angels keep giving him suspicous looks though, perhaps because of his slightly demonic looks? Anyways, Joshua simply continues to walk, easily guessing some of the thoughs of angels around him. Then, in a small fit of habits from his previous life josh bites into the tip of his finger, then sucks on the spiritual energy bleeding out when his teeth tear through skin.

Icarus

I came on an expedition with Rina, apparently. I don’t know why I bothered coming exactly- Maybe I want to spend time with Rina, or something. Maybe I just have nothing else to do. This reminds me of people searching for mythical creatures in the real world. Some people I knew once took a trip to Loch Ness in Scotland- They said it was beautiful, and apparently two of the main attractions were searching for the Loch Ness Monster, and the Haggis. The latter they found on a plate. It was pretty funny, how they thought it was some kind of creature, but was just a particularly nationalistic meal. They had a lot of funny stories, actually, but I couldn’t come. It was pretty upsetting. I would use the word ‘depressing’, but that’s something totally different from being sad. I knew someone who was depressed, once-It’s a serious mental condition, so I can’t use the word lightly. But I’m not depressed. Not even remotely upset at the moment, despite the slight twinge I felt at the missed opportunity. Well, the sun is shining, we’re not currently being brutally murdered, and I have a friend close at hand. What reason would I have to be unhappy? Then again, maybe I can’t say the same for Rina. She is pretty upset over her old boyfriend-I’ve never experienced the opposite situation, but I imagine it’s pretty upsetting. Women apparently find it even more upsetting than I would if I had the experience of having lost a girlfriend. She doesn’t seem to be affected now, and it was a while ago-But people don’t tend to recover from stuff like that too easily. “Hey, Rina? How’re you feeling? This sure is a nice day to go looking for a mythical beast, isn’t it?”

Hmm, so she doesn’t know? But I saw the Legionnaire ring on her hand. “The pits are, well, pits where Demons fight and kill one another to become stronger. Only those in the Infernal Legion can participate, and I suppose that is how they produce elite warriors. They’re the places to go if you want to become stronger, but they are really rather violent. I assume you don’t like violence…?”

I could read the real meaning behind Icarus’s question easily enough. “Um, I’m fine… Mostly…” Walking, looking at the trees, and contemplating about the nature of this world of spirits had almost taken my mind off of the things that were troubling me… Almost. I wasn’t upset over James anymore, not really; I never should have doubted to begin with. But there’s still a part of me that badly, desperately longed for him. It was like my heart was exposed to the chilling, biting wind of fear and doubt, and he was a blanket of warmth and strength that I desperately wanted to make me feel better. That… was a childish need, I was sure, but I really couldn’t help it. I was probably still a child, freshly out of high school, and now I was fighting Demons and who knew what else… “Hey, wait a second. Mythical beast?” I glanced at Icarus quizzically. “Um, that’s not exactly right.” I’d better explain to him before he offended anyone with that comment.

[Dig up the post a few pages back telling the story of the Guardians. They aren’t considered mythical beasts.]

Speaking of mythical beasts, we might be seeing one right now. An absolutely gigantic black bear, at least three meters tall and standing upright, was walking around at some distance in front of us, its thudding footsteps clearly audible. It was making aggressive-sounding growls from its throat.

And it was right in the middle of the trail we’re following.

“Does anyone possess any abilities that allow for stealth?” Romulus asked in a quiet voice to not disturb the bear.

“What, afraid of an animal?” Our other expedition leader, the elf-like Angel Aeden Silverrain, snorted.

“I would prefer not to harm it if possible; sneaking past it would be preferred. Any other suggestions are welcome, of course.”

[…I spent a lot of time today reading book four of the Inheritance Cycle. I have to finish it in a week; no library renewals.]
