I give up on my efforts, and reply, “Unless of course, it begis weakening our bones and muscles, in which case, if we try to run, our legs will probably snap off.”

.“Even so, it will probably happen progressively. Anyway, I would assume some of you know magic, so we have our own tricks up our sleeve.”

“What kind of magic can you do then?” I ask.

Despite your best searches, you find no caves, secret passages, etc. Additionally, the two searching for traps do not find any traps.

Upon entering the forest, the wall of trees that was on the outside is passed. You see something that looks similar to a village here, with a blacksmith’s workshop, a ransacked marketplace, a well, and several houses. There are no creatures here, either. You do get an interesting smell, especially(Or perhaps not) for an area lacking creatures; rotting corpses. Additionally, whatever is affecting this place doesn’t seem to be doing anything to you, in fact, you feel more alive than before you entered the forest.

A ruined village. Hm. Well, whoever did this might not have found all of the loot.

I search the village looking for anything I can sell or use, starting with the marketplace.

I focus my searches on the corpses: Items, signs of what killed them, number, who they might have been, and other such things.

Seeing the others already picking over the corpses I hurry to the destroyed and ransacked settlement and go towards the blacksmith, checking corpses on the way there for anything useful.

At the blacksmith I look for a set of blacksmith’s tools so I may be able to make a Dwarvern Waraxe to match the one I have. I also check the inside and around the area to look for anything helpful while observing and searching corpses to see what managed to kill them.

I enter a house at random, searching through all the cabinets, under the stairs, any secret compartment I can guess, looking for loot, items, booze or women. Everybody else can work on trying to get another trail for this quest, I can work on robbing this ghost-town.

(Noriar)

In the marketplace, you find two copper pieces. There is nothing else there of value, only rotten wood and moldy patches of fabric.

(Kahhrus)

There is no corpses in the village, just the smell of them. However, the closer you get to the well, the more powerful the smell is.

(Giloanil)

You find a set of blacksmith’s tools in the blacksmith’s stand, as well as ingots of various metals, mostly iron and bronze. The iron ones are rusting away.

(Nathaniel)

Searching a random house, you fins three silver pieces in one of the cabinets. Additionally, you find rotting food, ripped up clothing, and a chest that you are unable to open. The chest itself is rotting, so it would be easy enough to break it apart. It does not have a visible lock.

(Everyone)

While you are searching, you hear the occasional quiet footstep, but there appears to be no creatures making the noises.

[Describe the chest a little more so I can decide what to do with it. The lock, the size, the shape, etc.]

I peer down the well, making sure to grip the edge tightly, just in case.

Two copper pieces. Well, it’s better than nothing. Since the marketplace had almost nothing of value, I should look elsewhere.
These houses might have some valuables.

I search through one of the houses at random, but not the one that I saw Nathaniel go to.

I hit the chest with the shovel in my pack.

I tuck away the set of blacksmith’s tools into one of front pockets underneath my full-plate armor. I also take 4 iron and 3 bronze ingots, storing them in my rucksack.

I turn around and leave the blacksmithy.

What happened here I wonder, even the damned villagers don’t deserve this.

I head towards the nearest house that no one has entered yet and enter with my axes at ready. I search the house for any items there, along with looking for clues.

{Can you tell me how many ingots there are and of what kind please?}

(Kahhrus)

The well is very dark, although you get a very powerful smell from it. It almost makes you want to vomit. Despite the darkness, you see a slight shine at the bottom of it.

(Noriar)

Looking through a different house, you find one gold piece. You find a chest similar to the one that Nathaniel found, although you are able to open this one. Inside, you find a simple wooden staff, and another 3 gold pieces.

(Nathaniel)

The chest shatters upon being hit. Inside, you see a solid black shield, and 4 gold pieces.

(Giloanil)

In the house you find 2 gold pieces, 3 copper pieces, and a set of peasant’s clothing. There is nothing else in there.

(Four iron ingots and five bronze ingots.)

I take the lantern out of my pack and use it to get extra light. I also try to estimate how deep the well is.

“Its like the entire village just disappeared.” I mutter in Dwarfish. Taking the 2 gold and 3 copper pieces into my rucksack along with a couple shreds of the peasant’s clothing. I look around the area to see if I can spot any other signs or false walls before exiting the house.

I continue along the village to the next building to search and loot it while looking for signs.

I pocket all the money in a pouch in my pack, and I search the pockets of all the ripped up clothes, I can’t believe I missed that. I heft up the shield, and proceed on to another house, if nobody has entered it yet.

[If I’m supposed to magically know the stats and type of shield, tell me. Otherwise I will bring it to one of the fatties with the axes.]
