The Daemon Portal to the GODMACHINE is huge. It’s the biggest I’ve ever see. Replicator Dinosaur slithers along my arm, eager to attack. I turn to the others. “This is it. Let’s go.”
I step through.

The host of GODMACHINE is sleek and smooth. Metal runs everywhere; along the walls, along the floor. Everything is shiny white.
A bank vault door stands in front of us, its black screen demanding a 42 digit password. “This, I believe, is our first obstacle. Fortel, if you would…?”

After stepping through the portal, I stare at the screen. I curse my uselessness in this situation, never being too great with passwords. Regardless, I find it hard not to admire the ultimate simplicity of this room, with everything flat and orderly.

‘And why do you think I wouldn’t be able to get through it just as easily, LK? I literally just need to press random keys, and we’ll be in. Observe.’
The virtual keyboard brings itself in front of me, and I begin to tap random keys. 42 key presses later, the door is [presumably] unlocked.

Yeah, but you’re more of a jack of all trades. Fortel is the specialist." Behind the vault is a long corridor with purple glowing turrets mounted on the walls. "Any ideas how to get past those?

“Simple. We get access. Disguise ourselves in a way that makes them think we’re no intruders. Automated systems are easy to fool – you just have to show them the signs they need to receive to be dormant and they are. It’s like a password in itself. Now excuse me – I’m going to hack into the passive recording memory of the turrets to look at the recordings of those who managed to pass quietly.”
I find an access point. The security footage requires an access password – this doesn’t take long to get through. The encryption on the cybervideo files is rather simple, I manage to get through it on my own – then I send copies of the files to the others.
“Now, you guys can either disguise yourself, or just make the turrets think the way you are now is nothing suspicious and they should let you pass. Either way is fine. I’ve blown the door wide open, you can throw whatever malware you got on you into the turrets freely. Unless it raises an alarm.”

“Well, we wouldn’t want that happening this early, would we?”
With the files as a guideline, I disguise myself in a way that will allow me to get past the turrets. As a precaution, I upload Shockwave to the turrets’ systems.
“My own special virus is in the turrets now. If anything goes wrong, I can use Shockwave as a last resort to disable the turrets. Hopefully, I won’t have to. It would be pretty noticable if I did. So make sure you’re all disguised well.”

“I got some disguises. Trojan software. Best I can do. Now shall we disguise ourselves as legit software?” I ask.

“How disappointing. Allow me…”
I delve into the code of the turrets, trying to find the location of their guidelines of what indicates someone allowed to pass free. There’s quite a lot of code, so I start searching it for snippets I type in based on elements found in the cybervideo. Eventually, I narrow the criteria area down.
Seeing as I have access to the turrets, they surely won’t mind if I make this little change…
Then, after it’s done, I write a small file, which appears as a lapel pin in the cyberspace, and hold it, then send copies to everyone else.
“There. I made the turrets think anyone having this pin is allowed to enter. It’s a rather crude solution, but it should work.”
I finish by sweeping up behind myself – changing the cybersignature to another found in the changelog of the turret code. As such, them Godmachiners will think one of them just added a security window like this for his own purposes, whatever could they be – since the pin contains a 128-byte password, they might not find it much of a security risk. After all, who could find such a long password?
The one who made it, and no one else.
That’d be me.

I am in the middle of constructing my disguise when the pin appears. I look at it for a bit. “A little cruder than what I was working on, but if it works, then why not?” I tap a button on the side of my sunglasses and cancel the somewhat complicated disguise I was working on. My heads up display clears and I put on the pin.

Waiting somewhat patiently for someone to make an effect, the pin appears. I do what most people would do with one; that is, put it on. In the meantime, I enter the software, and locate the code for the turrets. I deposit a logic bomb inside it, set to delete all code registering the turrets existence in the case that an alarm would go off anywhere in the area, as well if any of our IP addresses are rendered ineffective. I also deposit another in the 42-digit code from before, specifically saying the the code will be changed to, “ABC123,” when I enter through the next doorway.

‘All this extra hacking seems ridiculously complex for just a few turrets,’ I point out. ‘We have the pins; move on. We’re on a schedule, or something, probably.’ That being said, and with the pin attached to my person, I move through the corridor unmolested, heading through the doorway at the far end without a trace of injury on my person.

I follow, then I keep the pin and send off the Trojan horse. It doesn’t go very far, gaining only a few user visits before getting destroyed by the turrets. “I liked that trojan, but it keeps getting user clicks. This was just the lucky one.” I say.

Following the others, I head down the hallway, and enter through the doorway. Presumably the code for the first door has been changed, as I can detect an edit in the file for the code.

I sigh. "You need to be told why? Well, there you go. Because it’d be a big huge giveaway, that’s why. ‘Security system has stopped working’ being blared on all the screens everywhere. We need to leave things on, make it seem like nothing’s happening – we don’t want anything unexpected to happen. Maybe you like showing some poor chap his machine’s toast, I prefer to keep mine in blissful ignorance until they find out their eight gigabytes of their horse porn have leaked out.’’

Doombringer ‘Well, for one, I think they would have noticed us when we opened the first door, as somebody had to spam to get the code. They must have noticed. Now, if we can edit their targeting, we need no disguise. and the disguise will only work for those turrets anyway, and maybe each turret has a different programming. And I think them seeing people walk through a corridor that’s supposed to be locked a little… suspicious, yes?’

“Well, we have disguises.” I point to the pin. “Simple ones, yes, but effective, as you can see.” I point to those in the group that have already enterred the hallway. “I could easily destroy the turrets, but that is a last resort. As we come across defenses, I’ll hack into them and plant the virus that can destroy them, but I’d only go through with that as a last resort. My virus is almost undetectable until I activate it, but if I do, that’s a massive giveaway and we want to avoid that if at all possible. We need to be discreet.”
