I give him a glare. “Didn’t I say that Rose is with the gun? We’re connected so of course I can find her! And I need the wings to fly, obviously! Now, you coming or not?”

Rae Grimfeld

I keep the thought that her wings are a bit over the top to myself as I pick up my broom and fly after her towards wherever the hell the bad guys are hiding.

Lucius

Fey turns around a moment to see Lynn flying with someone in another direction and follows suit to catch up.

Fey: Wait! Don’t do it! Join us in the Jade Forest! We could use the additional power against the raid! If they attack first, those left alive will be forced in captivity by Imperis’ paladins!

Optic
“I only go as far as to speak and assess motives without express permission. If you’re worried about the personalities taking control, then I can have a squad of 20 mages standing by at any time if you wish to delve deeper into your mind. It’s a haunting yet educational experience. As for your magic, we will have mages standing by with shields on both you and James.”

If one of my alternate personalities takes over, it’s possible that all 20 of your mages will die and he’ll still manage to escape alive, I continue to communicate with Optic through telepathy as I quickly float toward his base. It worries me that perhaps some other agent of the Order of Resurgence might pick up this telepathic connection, and I hope that James’s brainwave mimic plus Optic’s skill will make sure I’m not recognized. Even if you subdue him, there’s a chance that your people might not be able to restore me to normal. And that’s not a chance I’m willing to take.

As I approach the base of Optic’s organization, I sense someone observing me. A mage in robes, with a ball of psychic energy in his hand. He looks at me with cautious eyes, ready to lash out with his magic. He doesn’t feel like anything I can’t handle, but it’s best to avoid any conflicts whenever possible.

Call off your guards and let me in, Optic, I say to the psychic leader. If you really want to spar, fine. Make sure you shield your people really well. But not me; I can shield myself more than well enough.

“Hey, aren’t we gonna find the owner of your gun first? But if you wanna just go ahead and beat everybody up, I’m fine with that too! But don’t kill anyone, okay?”

Lucius

Fey looks at Lynn, dumbfounded.

Fey: I never said we weren’t going to give them theirs. I said we need to find Lucius first, have him take the gun back and then we can teach then what’s what by having the home field advantage. They want to ruin the forest? The forest has some big surprises waiting.

Fey spots Lucius again.

Fey: There he is! See the old guy in the green camouflage? That’s Lucius, our guardian. We can help him from there.

Trailing behind Chrisopher I notice a mage looking at Chris with a ball of psychic on his hand. I take out my yo-yo and get ready for anything.

Upon spotting the old man, I dive down from the sky, and do a quintuple somersault for the hell of it, making dark energy spin around me like crazy. I land on my feet and bring out my arms in a flourish, causing all the darkness around me to splash out in a spectacular but harmless manner. Ha, those martial arts and gymnastics lessons suddenly don’t seem so bad anymore, knowing that I get to pull awesome stunts like this.

“’Sup!” I grin at the old guy, stand straighter, and push my chest out a little to make the insignia more obvious. “Need help from a Paladin?”

Lucius

I notice this woman come down like an acrobat with Fey and Lieu following.

Fey: Lynn, this is Lucius, guardian of the Jade Forest.

I get up and hold my hand out.

…It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lynn. I take it Fey and Lieu told you what happened. Do you know where my rifle has gone? That rifle is a gift to me from the forest. I will see to it that you are rewarded…

Optic
“Let him though.” I say, projecting my voice using Christopher’s mine as a relay. The guard dispels his psychic, and Christopher is allowed through.

“It’s not my people. You will be facing James for this match. I’ve told stories about James, and everyone is anxious to see him in action once again. And with you, no doubt it will be an interesting training exercise.”

[Guys, I’m going on vacation for about 5 days starting tomorrow. I’ll check in tomorrow morning, and try to post throughout vacation, but I’ll be mostly inactive. Sorry about this, but real life calls]

Christopher Thunderblade

I reach out with my consciousness, and feel where Optic’s mental probe is originating from. “They want to see me spar with James,” I say to Vinyl and Carson. “Feel free to watch, but do try to stay out of the way.”

I have some serious business to talk to you about, a matter of life and death for not only myself but James as well, after he got himself involved, I say to Optic as I go toward his location, now walking on foot instead of levitating. Spar or no spar, we have to talk as soon as you have time. I sure don’t have a lot of time to waste.

“Screw that, I want front row seats to this.” I say as I run to his side and walk with him, “So, these other personalities, how strong are they? And don’t give me the same,” I mock his voice, “They are so strong they can kill a lot of people, thing, seriously I want to know, if you were to unleash them on the order of reassurance grunts?”

“You really wanna know? Fine. Assuming there’re no mages here to protect it, one of my personalities can reduce this whole building to a giant smoking crater in less than half a minute. The other one could have drilled at least fifteen holes in your body before you finished asking your question, assuming you don’t have any defensive measures in place like Carson’s elemental deflector. Yes, they’re so strong they can kill a lot of people. It’s what we were made for,” I say those last few words bitterly, the agonized and terrified faces of many of my victims flashing before my eyes. I shake my head a little, but don’t care if Optic can sense any of it; if he’s so quick to jump to conclusions and make judgments then he’s not worth having on my team.

“Oh… I say you should use it on the order of reassurance then, I know it’s a big deal and many innocents will die, but if this is just a all or nothing, desperate, suicide mission, might as well use it and hope like hell the innocent death count is low.” I say with a serious tone, something I don’t use often.

Optic
“You have a troubled life, I can see. MADE for… I’m assuming this engineering has to do with our business. You’ve killed those people, by your remorseful tone and brainwave disruption pattern. So sad that people would have CREATED you to do this. I will try my best to stop them with you. How-”

“Sir! Some members have been attacked on the street!”

“Shit. I need to take care of this. The match will wait.”

Wait, what? I blink. Who’s attacking your people? Can I h-

I stop myself just in time. Can I… Am I actually capable of helping people, saving people? I’m good at little more than killing and survival…

I suggest you offer your help, says the Assassin coolly. That increases the likelihood of the continued support from Optic’s organization. Additional cannon fodder will not hurt either.

My lips curl in disgust at his total lack of empathy, but I can’t help but to admit that he has a point. Can I help? I finish what I was saying before.

“Yeah, I know where your magic gun is, but it’s guarded by about fifty thugs. Got any ideas? I’m good with just going in there and beating shit up.”

Um, if that doesn’t work… Rose murmurs, I might be able to… She trails off, not confident enough to go ahead with what she has in mind.

Or we could just go beat shit up, I grin to myself.

Lucius

…Thugs, huh? Fey? Lieu? What exactly does the lady speak of?…

Lieu: Lynn speaks of the Hunter’s guild on the other side of Imperis.

Fey: Your gun is in a showcase on a wood platform. Lynn is probably right. We can’t just sit back and wait for them to make another raid on the forest. We must take action now.

I laugh and put my hand to the earth, letting it sink in. The hand becomes a set of roots which begin branching out underground. The gun starts sinking into the base of the showcase where after five to seven minutes, I pull it out.

…All I needed was a location to focus on in order for me to get it. One thing has been bothering me though. Lynn, would you happen to know the name of the leader there?…

Carson Florent

I bide my time in the back lines, configuring several of my equipments. I dusk seems to be close so I switch out my target system into night vision and then change the settings on my deflector to “High burst, Psychic” in case of some sort of psychic attack out of the blue, though in high burst mode it will not shield me from psychic detection and other small power unfriendly activity. I am meeting more psychics than I would usually care to meet, but I am no stranger to delving into the affairs of others.

I load a couple of metal slugs into my steam cannon and keep to the shadows, my grey duster coat automatically changes colour with the wall as I stalk the group.

Drake
As i continue searching for the rifle i find lucius and was about to change the direction of my search until i notice he has a rifle so i use my sene to zoom in on its stock and find that it is cherrywood so i decide to move towards him but i also noticed that he is at the paladin HQ and i know lucius didn’t want to go to the paladins so i move down low from roof top to roof top in order to avoid there line of sight when i get to the roof of the house in front of the paladins HQ i lay down with my head positioned to see them then i cast a weak sene illusion over myself to make it appear that no one is there then i use sene to communicate with lucius: Hello lucius this is Drake speaking i see you have found your rifle did the paladins have it?

EDIT: after reading this post i think that the illusion that i cast on myself might be misinterpreted i used sene to make it so no one can see me not so i cant see others.

A message from Drake…He’s using a special form of communication. If he can read my thoughts, then that’s fine.

…Drake, what a nice surprise. The paladins didn’t have it. Apparently there is a hunter’s guild. The guild had it. One of the spirits in the rifle had informed me that the guild was planning a raid on Jade Forest. I plan on issuing the challenge to bring all they’ve got and see if they can take this forest. I, of course have you, Alex, Alden and possibly Lynn and Rose to aid us. There is no law in the Jade Forest so killing them is fine if they try to attack first. I’m going to leave a note for the guild…

Fey brings over a piece of paper and Lieu grabs a pen from a desk near our location. I take them and write.

…To the hunter’s guild…I heard you are planning to make a raid on the Jade Forest. That place is full of nice animals and pure beauty. That being said, I am issuing you a challenge to try to take that forest…it certainly won’t go down without a fight…

Fey takes the letter and makes her journey across Imperis again to deliver the note.

I, of course have you, Alex, and possibly Lynn and Rose to aid us.

i deactivate my weak illusion and jump down to where lucius and the woman who is dressed in clothes with the paladin insignia on it but i have never seen that Clothing before so i think see is a fan of the paladins or something do they seriously let anyone have the insignia on their clothes. as i land i say: hello lucius sorry about the telepathic communication but i like to be cautious and i didn’t know how you got your rifle back. also did you want me to go find Alden to let him know that you have the rifle? and did you want me to return here or back at jade forest?
