Racefan has PM’d the answer :)
Because I have not explained my role clear enough, I will refrain from revealing the answer and become the winner of this round. Please do not PM the answer to me unless you will be gone for a pretty long time (eg. 24 hours).

So, er, did either of us get the right answer? If we didn’t, did Face authorize you to add a new word?

If you add “Cape” before these words, you get place names, right?
I know about Cape May, Cape Lookout and Cape Farewell. Can’t be bothered to check the others.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Cape Horn works too, I just remembered :D

He capitalized cancer, didn’t know why, looked up the word cancer. And here I am.

Doesn’t Tangier break that though? There’s no definition other than being a place

Doesn’t matter. Capitonyms are words with similar spellings, not necessarily corresponding pronunciations.
alexthenoob got it right (and surprisingly fast, I must admit).

When they are too hard, you do the obvious.
Can we have another word, please?

Random guess:
Are they all magazine names? I know about the Restaurant magazine and the Violet magazine. Google says that there is an “Of Note” magazine, a “Fort” magazine, and some alumni association magazine called “The Fort”
Ten-to-one, I am on a wild goose chase >.<
EDIT: If I can guess twice… they are all common countable nouns? :P

But isn’t note spelled as noter in French?
And isn’t there an accent over the French cable?
Still, I think you’ve got the right answer. Dang it, one of my potential answers was “Words that originated from French”, before I realized that does not apply to rose.
