Darkness. You see only darkness.

You are blind. And then the lights flicker on, and you find yourself in a hallway. A door is at the end of the hallway, but a humanoid being, made of… shadow? Made of shadow. A humanoid being made of shadow guards the door.

You find yourself clenching a Torchlight. The one thing that can defeat the shadow beings. You hope that you can find attachments for it soon; while powerful, the greater shadow creatures will defeat it if it has no attachments.

The shadow humanoid moves towards you.

What do you do?

Flag Post

Throw the torch at him.

Flag Post

The torch bounces off the advancing figure and skitters back to you. It lies on the floor, at your feet. For some reason, you feel an urge to switch the Torchlight on.

Flag Post

Oh, it was off?

Turn on the torch and point the light at him

The humanoid shrieks as its body falls to pieces. It crumbles into a small mound of black, which fades away. You open the door and enter the next room. There is a wooden table in the centre of the room, with a metal box on it. Three humanoids are guarding it; the middle one has tinges of red on the tips of its fingers. What do you do?

Flag Post

Throw the metal box away from you.

Flag Post

You head towards the metal box, but the humanoids raise their hands and an unseen force pushes you back.

Flag Post

Shine it at the metal box to reflect onto the humanoids.

Flag Post

The humanoids scream and shed pieces of body like leaves falling from a tree. They fade away, and the one with the red fingertips leaves behind a large black key. There are two locks in this room, you realize. One on the door and one on the box. Which one does the key fit? Both are of about equal size.

Flag Post

Try both of the doors.

Flag Post

Thisissopredictable, we go to the other room, get a key from there and open the box here laturz.

Fit the key in the door, if it doesn’t work, force it

Flag Post

You attempt to force the key through the door, but it won’t fit. Then, you move on to the box. It slides in easily and the box opens.

Inside, you find a strange device. Upon closer examination, you realize it is an Attachment for your Torchlight! There are two words scribbled along its side with black ink:Beam Solidifier. Beside the device is a small orb of darkness. You try to touch it, but a force repels you.

Whoa what, this is CYOP these days? Helltank, I thought CYOP gave choices.

Inspired by ITA, I’m assuming ;).

Flag Post

You wish.

Also CYOP is not choices, CYOA is. For examples of other non-choice CYOP, see Aetherland by Pulsaris and YFYIASOR by Bluji.

Flag Post

Shine the Torchlight on the orb.

Flag Post

The ray of light is absorbed by the orb of shadow. You think that perhaps the Torchlight would be more powerful with the attachment on.

Flag Post

Attach the attachment

Flag Post

You attach the attachment. Immediately, the ray of the Torchlight turns from yellow to a pure, blinding white.

Flag Post

Point the torchlight toward the orb so it can be destroyed (and possibly give some stuff)

Flag Post

The orb shatters instantly, and you realize that this attachment allows your Torchlight to break objects made of darkness.

Inside is a key.

Flag Post

Fit that key into the door

The door swings open, and you step through into a ballroom.

Everything is swirling black. A chandelier hangs in the middle of the ceiling, its candles extinguished, clinking gently against the elaborately carved skulls mounted on the walls. Tables laden with food and drink stretch along the sides of the room, and in the very centre, under the chandelier, is a third humanoid. He has a face this time, a grinning, maniacal face. He wears a top hat and a suit of shadow. A black cane hangs from his arm, and he bows as you enter.

“Won’t you join the party?” he asks, and his voice is like shredding velvet.

Flag Post

Oh, so them black slendermen are gone?

Say “Sure, why not”, and flash the torchlight at him

Flag Post

He laughs again as the light bounces off him. “Come now, are we feeling brave today, with our attachment mounted? Wahahaha! Try again!”

Flag Post

Take off the attachment and flash it at him again
