So…I don’t need to say this, but yeah. 8-1 and Coldplay – Viva La Vida takes the other finals spot!
It’s only been a couple of songs to pass away, but I’m posting them anyway.
Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks
Jason Mraz – 93 Million Miles
Woo!
THE FINAL ROUND
All-caps probably isn’t necessary, but oh well.
So, let’s do some background on the songs up today. First up, Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence, submitted by Zzzip50. In its first round, it faced Justin Bieber – Baby where it dominated with a 12-2 vote. The second round, against Kavinsky – Wayfarer, just barely scraped by with a 4-3 vote. Round three, it defeated Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody with a vote of 5-1. A few short days ago, in round four, it conquered over Chrono Cross – Dreams of the Shore Near Another World with 5-4. Then, just two days ago, it slipped past Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks at 4-3.
In the other corner, we have Coldplay – Viva La Vida, from GottaAskTheMan. It started out against Quake II – Gravity Well with a vote of 9-3. The next time we saw it, it went up against Depeche Mode – Enjoy the Silence and came out with 7-3 (Huh. I wonder if this will be telling of today’s matchup?). In the third round, it faced The Beatles – When I’m 64 and dominated with a 5-1 vote. In a round fairly close to memory, it ripped apart Uzzbuzz – 8-bit Final Fantasy VIII Liberi Fatali with a 9-1 vote. Then, as is at the top of this post, it kicked the butt of Jason Mraz – 93 Million Miles at 8-1. Welp.
So without further adieu, I present to you my last matchup.

This was extremely difficult, but The Sound of Silence because it was written almost 50 years ago but is still a fantastic song. I got tired of Viva la Vida after the first few years after it was released.

My favorite songs in the nominations besides mine were
Train Leaving Gray, which got kicked out.
Little Talks
and 93 Million Miles
I was going to vote 93 Million Miles last time over Viva la Vida, but it was facing like 10 votes, and I didnt want to look like a troll just going against the unanimous streak.
Anyways.

What were you expecting? 212? Time to Pretend?
Why I didn’t like 212: I don’t like rap (not a prejudice, Im saying this after understanding the basic qualities of rap through listening), vulgar language, and the video.
Why I didn’t like Time to Pretend: Good theme, but the singing quality to me diminished at certain parts.
And last time you said something against The Long and Winding Road and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. Imo they were much better than 212. The former has a great melody, and has a deep spiritual meaning, not just blabbering out sexual references. The second one is a fun upbeat singalong, which is really meant for younger children, and you cant really judge that with the same standard as with songs for teenagers and up.

I don’t particularly love the sound of Silence, but seriously how in the hell did Viva La Vida get this far?
Voting for Sound of Silence.

but seriously how in the hell did Viva La Vida get this far?
Because it’s one of the top 5 songs in the tournament?
Not that it matters, but symbolically, I’m still voting for Viva La Vida, though I like both of these songs.
