They have underestimated the power of the Enigmatic Labyrinth and have been stuck, imprisoned in the Enigmatic Labyrinth for five years with scarce food. They must choose… will they try to find their way to the Kingdom of Riches… or leave it all behind and find a way to escape the deadly Enigmatic Labyrinth?

Introduction

Riches. Unbelievable riches. The Enigmatic Labyrinth leads to the Kingdom of Riches, where every man and woman wishes to go. There lies piles of gold, scrolls full of devastating spells, epic weapons of mass destruction, and enchanted armor. You are part of a rag-tag group of ten people who have dared to venture deep into the Enigmatic Labyrinth. You wish to find the riches and treasure deep in the Kingdom of Riches.

Five years ago, you entered the Enigmatic Labyrinth. You wanted riches back then, treasure. Now, all you want is to get the hell out of this prison… or do you? Do you still want the treasures? That is up to you. You’re dried up from lack of water, weak from lack of rations. One day, you were walking around when one of the corridors shifted right in front of your eyes. You saw tables in a room, and on top of the tables was food, water, everything you needed to survive. You motioned for your companions to come, before the corridor shifted again. Once everyone was inside, the corridor behind you shifted again, but instead of showing another corridor, it was blocked by a wall. You were in a small room full of food, water, and beds. Ahead of you was the exit, leading to another corridor. You heard pattering. Something was running towards you… something big and fast… the pattering got louder and louder until a large beast came through the gateway in front of you. It had brown fur, blood-red eyes, bat-ears, vicious claws, and sharp teeth. Will you kill it before it kills you?


Welcome to my new forum game! “The Enigmatic Labyrinth” is based on “Labyrinth 1.0” by thecartm, which I really liked. So, as a result, I decided to make another game like it, just a little different. This game is a role-based combat game. You will be fighting enemies scattered around the Enigmatic Labyrinth. The deeper you go, the harder the enemies are. You might even have to fight each other… who knows? I will be using the 1D100 dice to get the results on your action. There will be ten players. To join, all you have to do is do the application in the post after the one below this one and post it in this thread. I will look it over very carefully and decide if there is anything wrong with it. Once we have the ten players needed, I will start the game. From then on, I will accept players as reserves. Have fun, and most of all, good luck on your journey.

How Stuff Works

How do you determine the damage I’ve done to my enemy?

I use the magnificent dice, 1D100, to roll. Once I have a number, I will determine how much damage you’ve done. This is also used to determine dodge chance, defense, and such.

How do I level up?

You level up by killing enemies. Under “Player Information”, there will be a little note that says the following: “x experience points until level up.” “x” is how many experience you have until level up. You will gain a certain amount of experience points upon killing an enemy. How much experience points you get depends on the difficulty of an enemy. Experience points will be given to all players who participated in damaging the enemy upon killing it. Once you level up, you get one attribute point to put into a stat.

How do I get replenish my MP and HP?

To replenish your MP, you can skip a turn which will grant you twenty-five MP but leave you vulnerable to enemies. You could also gain MP potions from enemies and drink them to regain MP. To replenish HP, you must get a HP potion from an enemy and drink it. That is the only way to replenish HP. Drinking potions does not take a turn.

How do I get more equipment?

Sometimes, when you kill your enemies, they may drop some equipment. You can loot those drops for more equipment. Another way is to craft items. More often, enemies will drop some sort of material which you can use to craft weapons, armor, etc. Crafting does in fact take a turn and leaves you vulnerable.

How does elemental damage work?

There will be elemental enemies in this game. Elementals have weaknesses, for example, a fire elemental would be weak to water. The fire elemental would get 50% more damage when attacked by a water attack, such as a water bolt, or something. Elementals also have strengths. For example, if you use your fire ball on a fire elemental, it would, in fact, heal, because it is made of fire, and you’re just feeding the fire.

How do I get elemental armor and weapons?

Players themselves can have elemental armor, which decreases damage done by a certain elemental by a certain amount depending on the amount of runes engraved in your armor. Elemental armor can be crafted by engraving runes from elementals into armor. For example, let’s say you killed a water elemental. It dropped a water rune and you snatched it. You can engrave that rune into your armor. It will give the armor a 10% elemental defense against water. You can increase the elemental defense by adding more runes. Runes always gives 10% elemental defense against the elemental it dropped from. Players can also have elemental weapons. Each rune, when broken, releases a magical “dust”, which can be sprinkled onto weapons and add elemental damage. For example, let’s imagine you killed a fire elemental. You grabbed it’s rune and broke it, revealing the dist hidden inside. You sprinkled it on your weapon. The weapon now does 10% more damage on a fire elemental. When runes are broken, they give 100 tiny specks of magical dust, which give 10% more damage against the elemental the rune dropped from. Runes engraved in armor and dust sprinkled on weapons do not last forever. Runes can be destroyed quite easily. The dust wears off in about ten game updates.

How do de-buffs and buffs work?

Rarely, but not that rarely, enemies drop special potions. These potions may give buffs or de-buffs. Buffs give you a boost in a particular stat. De-buffs do the opposite. For example, let’s say you defeated a fire elemental and it dropped a special potion. You grabbed it. Now, you don’t know if it will give you a buff or a de-buff. Let’s say you decided to drink it and I rolled for you. You rolled a, say, 75. A roll higher than 50 will give you a buff, but anything lower than 50 will give you a de-buff. So, you were lucky and got a buff. You got 10% more fire resistance. How long buffs and de-buffs last depends on your roll. If you decide to drink a special potion and roll below a ten, the de-buff lasts for five turns. Anything between 0 and 10 will give you a five-turn de-buff. Anything between 11 and 50 will give you a two-turn de-buff. Anything between 51 and 90 will give you a two-turn buff. Anything between 91 and 100 will give you a five-turn buff.

How do spell cards work?

Sometimes enemies may drop spell cards which allow you to cast a spell once. These spell cards’ strength and duration will be determined by the roll. A spell card allows you to cast a status effect on an ally or enemy. Status effects include Poison, Regen, Sick, ATKBuff, etc. Status effects are basically buffs and de-buffs, but you can cast them on enemies too, and you know what the status effect does before you cast it, which is why they are a little bit more rare.

How do allies work?

When you take all your willpower and focus, and some mana too, you can corrupt an enemy into working for you. This will usually take place later in the game, because near the beginning, you are no where near as powerful enough to corrupt enemies. It takes a lot of mana to be able to do this, and the stronger the enemy, the more mana you need. Once you have successfully corrupted an enemy, it will carry on your commands, and only yours.

Classes and Stats

There are four classes. Wizard, Archer, Warrior, Knight, and Assassin. Here, I will explain the stats of each class. The stats are ATK, DEF, SPD, HP, and MP. ATK is short for attack. Each point in ATK increases your damage by three. DEF is short for defense. Each point in DEF decreases damage taken from enemy attacks by three. SPD is short for speed. Each point in SPD decreases enemy roll by three. HP is short for health points. Each point in HP increases your health points by two. MP is short for mana points. Each point in HP increases your mana points by five.

Those are the stats of the classes. You get three attribute points in the beginning of the game to put into specific stats. You can get more attribute points upon leveling up.

They started calling him Wind after that day. He is crazy and has random thoughts from time to time that he often voices to whoever is around to hear them.

Additional Equipment: None.

Biography: Gamma was a holy knight in training. He hoped to become powerful enough to defeat evil and bring about peace to everyone. gamma’s motivation for entering the labyrinth is to hopefully send gold back to the people outside of the kingdom of riches. He wanted everyone to have a good life. So he packed up and looked for people already gearing up to the kingdom of riches. After finding such a group he promised to protect them so that none would die.

Personality: Kind, protective, and trustworthy.

Fire Ball: The caster shoots a ball of fire at the enemy that deals [2+ATK] fire damage on impact that costs 50 mana. The fire ball causes a [1/4 ATK (rounded up)] meter fire explosion on impact That deals [ATK] fire damage to any enemies that get hit (doesn’t damage allies). Both the initial impact and the explosion have a 10% chance to cause a burn on an enemy dealing [1/4 damage received (rounded up)] each turn for 3 turns.

Flaming Weapons: The caster imbues the parties weapons with fire magic dealing bonus fire damage that costs 50 mana. allied weapons gain a [1/2 casters ATK (rounded up)] fire damage bonus when attacking with there weapons for 3 turns. A weapon with this effect has a 10% chance to burn the enemy on impact the burn deals [1/4 received fire damage (rounded up)] each turn for 3 turns.

Fire Mage Robes: +1 ATK when dealing fire based damage. [10% x DEF] fire damage resistance. (if total fire resistance is higher then 100% then the wearer is healed by the blast by the bonus % of the damage. [so if Ardred gets hit with fire magic with 110% fire resistance he would be healed by 10% of the attacks damage.])

Additional Equipment:

Amulet of Fire: +1 ATK when dealing fire based damage.

Ring of Fire: +1 ATK when dealing fire based damage.

Fire-Proof Wizard’s Journal: There is really only a few things that make this journal different from others. One is the fact that it is fire proof to prevent accidental or intentional destruction of the journal by fire. Another is that it has been enchanted to have unlimited pages in it so someone only ever needs one. And another one is the fact that it is field with amazing feats that he had done in the past like defeating dragons or other grand acts.

Biography: He was trained as a fire mage in the arcane tower. He could cast spells that could destroy entire cities with ease. However as soon as he stepped into the labyrinth his magical abilities where degraded greatly. He hopes to reclaim this power from the treasure in the labyrinth despite the fact he has been in here for 5 years. He originally entered the labyrinth because of a dare he made with someone and as soon as he entered the way back out closed behind him.

The Pendant of Aggression: This pendant increases Nixx’s ATK by 2.

Biography: She was once the blessed child of a cult, destined to bring suffering to the universe. She has never really been a fan of that plan, but despite being radiantly attractive, having a kind personality, and trying to disassociate with the cult, she was always shunned. Shunned to the point that she came to the cult, ready to crush the world, but first she must brave the labyrinth.

Boomshot: Snapshot fires a shot which explodes on impact, damaging 2-3 enemies for 15 DMG. This skill costs 25 mana.

Iceshot: Snapshot fires an arrow made of magical ice that slows an enemy down by decreases the enemy’s SPD by up to 3. This skill costs 25 mana.

Biography: He prefers not to tell about his past, save for the fact that his parents were cruel, so he ran away into a life of mercenary work

Nickname: Lynx

Gender: Male

Class: Assassin

Skills:

Strategist: Being of higher intellect, Lynx plans his moves out ahead of time and anticipates what the enemy is doing. Using his mana, he can focus his eyesight on the opposing force and use catlike reflexes in order to raise his speed by 2 for 3 turns. This skill costs 50 mana.

Double Pierce: Lynx throws his spear, focusing his mana, allowing him to throw it through his victim, and then he uses his chain to pull it back, penetrating the victim cleanly again. This skill does about 25 damage and costs 25 mana.

Starting Weapon and Armor:

Double Sided Yari: The handle of this weapon is decorative, consisting of lynx fur, and at each end, the blade protrudes from the skull of a lynx that Jordan once killed. It has a chain wrapped around it affixed to Lynx’s arm. It’s light design allows him to move with more quickness. This weapon boosts SPD by 1.

Lynx’s Armor: Hide armor made from dead lynx. This lightweight design isn’t the best defense but gives 2 more SPD.

Additional Equipment:

Venom in a Glass: A large glass container on his back that contains deadly venom that he often dips his spear into in order to improve the deadliness of his weapon. When a weapon is dipped into this glass, Lynx’s ATK is increases by 2.

Biography: A liar, a thief, and a killer. All of these words can describe Kutlier. His face, his green eyes, his blonde hair, tall stature and terrible lifestyle became a household tail in his hometown. He grew up an orphan, yet he didn’t steal to make ends meet. He hunted, beast and man alike. He thrived and became greedy, and at the age of 17, he sought out for his riches in the labyrinth.

Seems like a pretty good game. I’ll join, fgf seems kinda boring lately…

Also, could we get a generic/ normal hp enemy so we can get a feel of how much damage an attack should do? I’ll fix my attacks if UP or OP.

Reflex: The player produces a quick tailwind to provide 1-4 speed to the user, and 1-2 speed to nearby teamates. Every update/turn the effect diminishes by 1 until gone. So example: Turn1= +7SPD, Turn2= +6SPD, Turn3= +5SPD, etc etc… (roll to determine)

Nova Dagger- Element: Bomb/fire, 25% magical, 75% physical – 9 base damage + 20% Chance to stun target- The user throws a explosive dagger created with magic and steel at the target. (btw stun status causes the target to skip that turn. Lasts 1 turn.)

Attributes: 2 to (ATK) 1 to (HP)

Starting Weapon: Thunder Spear- Element- Electric, adds 5% stun chance to any physical attacks (like Nova Dagger) stacks with other secondary effects.

Starting Armor: Dragon Armor- Element- electric- Enemies that hit me with physical contact have a 10% chance to be stunned. Electric enemies will be healed for 5% hp however.

Additional Equipment: Ring Of Luck- Improves any Non-Agressive/Direct Damage attacks roll by 5. So like defending, healing, just not attacking.

Hm…

Reflex seems a bit too… strong. Maybe 1-3 for yourself and 1-2 for allies? It could last for 2-3 turns.

Photographic Armor is a bit too OP. I suggest you change it entirely.

Thunder Spear’s bonus stun chance is a bit too high. Maybe 5% instead?

Everything else is fine.

Also, once you change your application, I will initiate a small battle with a weak enemy for you so you can test your damage through PMs. I can do this for everyone.

Also, I got to go now.

I’m not going to play because I’m currently embroiled in my own FG, and several mafias. With limited time, I’m not going to join more than a few games at the time.


UL, checking balancing will be hard without testing it in a real battle. Just try to find full potential and synergies with other player skills and you should balance it fairly well.

Fire-proof wizards journal: There is really only a few things that make this journal different from others. One is the fact that it is fire proof to prevent accidentle or intentional destruction of the journal by fire. Another is that it has been enchanted to have unlimited pages in it so someone only ever needs one. And another one is the fact that it is field with amazing feats that he had done in the past like defeating dragons or other grand acts.

[Biography:] He was trained as a fire mage in the arcane tower. he could cast spells that could destroy entire citys with ease. however as soon as he steped into the labyrinth his magical abillities where degraded greatly. he hopes to reclaim this power from the treasure in the labyrinth despite the fact he has been in here for 5 years. He originally entered the labyrinth because of a dare he made with someone and as soon as he entered the way back out closed behind him.

Everything seems good. But, I think Critical should cost 50 mana and Dodge should cost 30. Is this okay with you?

Okay, heal costs 35 mana and fireball costs 40 mana. Is that okay? Also, everyone has 100 mana. To gain mana, you can drink a mana potion or skip your turn. Also, does your Mage Robe give you a skill bonus or anything?

@arken,

Okay… Fire Staff will give +2 ATK when dealing with fire based damage, Fire Mage will give +1 ATK, and the Amulet and Ring will give +1 ATK. Both of your skills cost 75 mana. Alright?

sounds good to me underlord. mage robe could add + 1 attack if you are ok with that. if not maybe add 2 health or something instead. i guess i forgot to put stats on it. i’ll edit if you confirm this. if not then it’s just to make me look more wizard like :D

+1 bludgeon defense. (bludgeon is like hammers and stuff.)

Biography: gamma was a holy knight in training. He hoped to become powerful enough to defeat evil and bring about peace to everyone. gamma’s motivation for entering the labyrinth is to hopefully send gold back to the people outside of the kingdom of riches. He wanted everyone to have a good life. So he packed up and looked for people already gearing up to the kingdom of riches. After finding such a group he promised to protect them so that none would die.

Personality: Kind, Protective, and Trusting.

Note: Feel free to increase/decrease the stats on weapons, armor, and skills if you find they are too weak or too strong.

Just a few comments/suggestions.
I’m pretty sure these are already in effect though.

Are you including elemental damage? Like fire is weak to water. (+50% damage perhaps?)
like Dark,poison,wind,frost,flame,earth,water,electric,holy to name a few.
Resistances to such elements, if such resistance goes above 100, then the user shall be healed by that percentage.
Is crafting and things allowed in this game? besides loot, there is no way to gain new stuff in this battle type game.
How many status effects/buffs are there? poison, regen, and blind to name a few.
Also I like your formatting style :)

If you want +1 ATK on Mage Robe, I’m fine with that. In fact, if you want, I’ll even let you have +2 ATK to balance the players out. So, go ahead and edit it. I’ll put the correct information when you’re done, but make sure to inform me when you edit so I can put you in immediately.

@gammaflux,

I think Wind Strike should cost 50 mana. Everything else is good. I’ll wait for your conformation before putting you in.

@ilovekirby12,

I haven’t really thought of your suggestions, but they sound good. I will add elemental damage, crafting, and status effects/buffs in soon. They will be explained in the “How Stuff Works” section. I’ll also add mana…

Everyone else is free to give suggestions, because I could use them. I lack planning skills. :D

I confirm.

Suggestions for elementals: just because one person attacks with one element, does not mean that his body takes more damage from the element strong to his attacking element. (basically if there’s a turtle who breathes fire, his attack will be of the fire element, but his body will still act like a water element.)

Also just to note there are two elements that should not have any real weakness nor strength against. (psychological, and sonic) sonic as in sound.

Well, there will be no elementals who attack with an element that is not their own.

And, I’ll only make basic elementals, such as fire elemental, dark elemental, lightning elemental, etc. No sonic and psychological elementals in this game.
