The Kingmaker game type and roles are described at this link (click the button that says “Setups and Variations” once the directory has loaded). In case anyone’s forgotten, or doesn’t want to go to the link, the various role types are visible below:

Townie: The basic person. Those people with this role are, as to be expected, one of the deceased king’s many children, vying to become the next royal scion, who win it for their side by eliminating all Scum from the game, so as to make the contest fairer on themselves and everyone else.
Scum: A mafioso, basically. These are also one of the bastard children of his ex-majesty, but have given themselves an unfair advantage by revealing who exactly they are to a select group of others who have done the same, and now seek to eliminate the Town-sided folks from the running, by fair elimination or unfair murder, so that they can settle things amongst themselves, presumably through trial by swordsmanship or what have you.
Kingmaker: A town-sided son or daughter who has temporarily been granted the dubious honour of temporarily granting royal status to anyone s/he chooses. The role of Kingmaker passes randomly between living Townies at the beginning of every night; if a townie is chosen as Kingmaker for the night, they must PM the steward (i.e. the GM) with the names of two people who they want to become King – a main choice, and a backup choice if the main choice is killed by the mafia during the night. Based on whether or not the main choice is still alive, one of these two will be publicly crowned King for the next day, as described below. The Kingmaker cannot choose themselves to become King, and the same person cannot be chosen as King two nights in a row unless seven or fewer players remain.
King: The big man. The top dog. The boss, the highest-up, the- okay I’m out of bad wordplay. Within a given day, the King is effectively the only player who is able to vote; as a result, they cast the sole vote in a given day, whilst every other player can only attempt to persuade them to pick a person to lynch. Additionally, the King cannot un-vote or un-lynch a player – once his or her vote is made, the day is effectively ended, so deliberation regarding who to vote for is advised on the King’s part.
Hero: The Hero is a mighty champion within the kingdom, performing great deeds of bravery and swordsmanship, and is beloved by all they meet. Occasionally, people have literally worshipped the ground they walk upon. Therefore, they are pushed to a rather irritable state by being forced to remain anonymous within the palace, and despite doing their best to keep calm, will be mortally offended if they are chosen to be ejected from the contest by their peers. This is a Town-sided role, and the only potential power role within the Kingmaker game type – if they are voted for by a King at any time, they will immediately slay the King in question, effectively removing the current King from the contest instead of themselves, but revealing themselves as a Hero to all other players. This ability only functions once – if another King chooses to eject him despite their revealed non-Scum status, they will master their emotions and accept the edict peaceably enough. Additionally, the Hero cannot become a Kingmaker, although they can, of course, be made into a King.

Shorthand: The basic roles are townie and scum; a King elected by a nightly-randomly-chosen town-aligned Kingmaker casts the only vote in a day, and cannot unvote or unlynch; a town-aligned Hero is immune to lynch once, and kills the King who attempts to lynch them, revealing their role in the process. Anyone can become a King, but only townies can be chosen as the Kingmaker, and the Kingmaker cannot choose themselves to be the King. Otherwise, the game is not that different from an ordinary mafia.

Kindly keep the usage of quote pyramids to confirm a vote to a minimum, everyone. Just don’t want the thread to have terribly long first and second pages, is all.

Confirm Role

No witty monologue this time. Not only have I never played Kingmaker before, but I’d kinda like to keep my sense of humor for a Nuzlocke variant I’m doing of Pearl.

Small question, the King is known publicly or only he and the Kingmaker know who’s got the role?

How else would we persuade him if he wasn’t know publicly?

Dunno. He can read the posts as we throw shit fecal matter at each other, then come out with a choice
