The “L+1” Votecount
myhome16 (6): devourer359, Aedan210, SilentSam, myhome16, simeng, tttttt
Not voting (2): N1NjA546, therealsirmark4
And so myhome16 is lynched. myhome was Leonard “Bones” McCoy, a doctor.
And with that, the game is over, and the Romulan mafia group has won!
The Romulan mafia group, who won the game without losing a single member, consisted of devourer359 (Godfather), SilentSam, Aedan210, and simeng.
The other three players were: tttttt, who was Worf, a vigilante, N1NjA546, who was James T. Kirk, an investigator, and therealsirmark4, who was Beverly Crusher, a doctor (and who would have been modkilled at the end of this day for inactivity anyway).
Anyway, congratulations to our four winners, and thanks to everyone for another great game. I’ll be sure to leave this thread open for at least 48 hours for any discussion you might have.

I don’t hate you; you (repeatedly) broke a rule, and I banned you for it, just like I said I would.
If I hated you, I would have banned you for longer.

You may have made too many mafia members, but oh well.

There were two separate mafia groups, both with killing roles—the natural expectation was that some of the kills would target each other (the Klingons didn’t know who the Romulans were, and vice versa). The fact that this didn’t happen was just dumb luck.
Incidentally, my original setup of 19 also included two vanilla townies, which I took out when I only got 17 signups. Every town role was thus a power role, which I thought might have made up for the seeming number imbalance (and it might have, had there not been inactives).

[I still think three Mafiae would’ve been better]

I kinda knew I would get killed on night 2. Playing mafias isn’t that fun when people know you’re good at them – you are pretty surely night killed early.
BTW, who killed me?
Oh, and what and when is your next game?

My next game? That’s a good question—I haven’t decided yet. I’ll probably be making a post in the “Choose My Next Game” thread in the next couple of days. Either way, since I have finals starting later this week, my next game will most likely not start until around May 10.

Ninja, you knew three of the mafia by the end. Why didn’t you tell anyone? You could have prevented the Maf win if you used your knowledge for your team.

I was thinking the same also. He got all of his investigations correct, so why didn’t he share them?
Also, devourer, OMGUS! Not only for being ahead of me in Kong points, but for NKing me on night 2!

Yeah. The setup might have seemed a little imbalanced, but lack of information-sharing, and inactivity (particularly on the part of the doctors) certainly didn’t help the situation.
I don’t like inactives. I mean, really—is it that hard to check in every couple of days and take 5 minutes to post something? I know there are sometimes special circumstances, like with Bluji’s lack of computer access—but even Bluji managed to remain active.
Also, I’m not entirely sure how many people realized that there were two mafia groups. I had expected that to become exposed fairly quickly.
Basically, more than anything, I think people in Mafia games here on Kong just don’t discuss enough. One person makes a post saying someone else is suspicious, and then everyone just goes with it without questioning. Question everything. There is always a good chance that the person sharing that information is trying to deceive you (in this game, nearly half the players were trying to do so). Furthermore, if you get voted against, defend yourself. There is always someone more suspicious than you—if you are able to be persuasive enough.
I had brought up with myhome16 in PM about whether I should start a newbie Mafia game. Not necessarily because people are new to playing Mafia—but a lot of people don’t play with a lot of strategy. They think that Mafia is all about “Vote for a random person and hope that they are scum”—but as we’ve seen time and time again, that strategy greatly favors the mafia. Communication, discussion, and activity are the town’s primary weapons. Force the mafia to slip up and expose themselves—don’t just blindly go around shooting in the dark.

Partly me being unable to (sadly inactive due to schoolwork), but also that I was kinda expecting there to be a little more time before a mafia win. I was also too hesitant; I considered it, decided “nah, I’ll just die and my team won’t believe me anyway” and left it.
I guess racefan certainly achieved his goal with me; you’ve got me thinking about strategy much more, and I enjoyed this mafia, so well done.
Good game everyone.

:D
But yeah, an investigation result is the closest thing to a “sure thing” in a Mafia game. There are roles that allow the results of an investigation to be incorrect (I could have included some in this game with the Godfathers, but I decided not to), but it is almost always better to reveal investigation results of Mafia than to keep them secret. Sure, you’ll probably be killed the next night by the mafia, but a cop for a mafia (or two) is generally a good trade for the town.

Yeah, Romulan Mafia won!
Bluji, you will be nked for just plain experience. Try playing on alts.

That’s kind of a cowardly move though, isn’t it? (Killing someone because they’re experienced, that is; not playing on alts.)
That’s also another reason why I think a newbie game would be a good idea: If everyone became more experienced, then there would be no need to kill the experienced players, because everyone would have a similar level of experience.
