Still, awesome to get that fps with that many objects.

That depends on whether the bullets are just going to fly straight (straight of course being whatever their starting direction set to) or take on more advanced behaviors, such as homing. If homing bullets become a thing in that game, I highly suggest limiting the trig to maybe 5 or so times per second instead of every single frame. Probably pretty obvious, I know, but in case it wasn’t, I wanted to throw it out there.

Were you blitting in Eisydian Saga or just using optimised display objects?

When I was looking at it, it appeared like they were all moving towards him, which would require constant trig. But I’m wrong.

I can actually understand why you would have come to that conclusion, the bullets do seem to converge on him. However, every optimization counts and I’ve precomputed a lot of things trig side to cut up on calculation costs.

UnknownGuardian is correct, I’m using Starling. The profiler was probably a dead giveaway :P

And if anyone is familiar with nape, you would have noticed, that well, I am using nape. I’m planning to incorporate a lot of interesting things with physics: this isn’t your average shooter :3

Since I’m using a physics engine, object pooling would definitely be a plus (since I’d only define bodies, shapes, constraints once)

They’re just optimized displayobjects.

My project with making music that fits the current environment is going along nicely. Need to tweak a few calculations, but I’m getting some decent results in my environment detection now :)

(Data of the surrounding blocks is being sent from Minecraft, and Max is taking care of calculations (what the image is showing) and later on the music as well)

Jezuz, it’s a song? Man that’s even worse, they’ll have to compete with the Beatles over google searches, the engine won’t be the first thing that comes up if you google it :\

A strategy/action game that I am making. Your units have XP… You manage your bunker and command assaults to take enemy’s bunkers.

Nice art. I especially like the concept art on the upper right. What program did you use to draw it? (Or was that drawn on paper?)

I first drawn it on paper, so in black and white, then took a picture of it. After I used ArtRage and a A5tablet to fill the colors.(Like the steps on the left). I’m not an artist, I know I should be use PS but… Artrage was free with the A5 bamboo tablet. It’s quiet easy and there are layers so I think it’s enough.

Tears are streaming while I attempt to fit everything not in the purple box in the purple box. And that means including having those 2 buttons in the background not be overlapped by the content.

EDIT Work in progress for automatic screen adjustment

How do you know he doesn’t mean concept art? Perhaps once the game is live, the boxes will be shinier and more colorful.

I did in fact mean concept. “Concept art is a form of illustration where the main goal is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product.” Since in the final product I will have three square buttons, and a rectangular main character. Placeholders don’t have anything to do the final product. (I’d have used my RandomGraphic class instead of ColorBox)
