E: This lighting is dynamic kinda.
Truefire, you can make the flashlight light 1000% cooler looking if you add a blur filter.
Adobe flash has one built in, but I have no doubt you could pop the lighting “triangle” thing into photoshop and hand blur it if you don’t have adobe.
Might also be better on framerate but I have no idea on that one. Just a guess.

You can blur it without adobe.

I didn’t get any better idea for that ship for now, I’ll do it when done with coding.

Here is my demo, finally:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17828135/shooter.swf
i dont know why it runs slower in the browser than locally (framerate wise; character seems to be moving at the same speed).

it’s likely you have a local (standalone) version be FP10.3 while the browser plugin version is FP11.x already due to autoupdate.

Are you making some sort of dungeon type of game?

nice lighting :) but, you will need to teach enemies to go round obstacles, I have made them get stuck on one side of the block with me on the other.

Neat so far, I like the lighting effect. I seem to have gotten stuck inside a wall though. :o

When this happened, it locked up completely.

Unlike some on those “devs”, I know how to implement it; just not worth it.
E:Updated, added back face culling optimization
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17828135/index.html (the web page runs faster than the raw file).

Fixed it, the bug was caused by a access to the position component in the spacing system without going through the velocity component…

The slider box won’t close out for me(Mozilla Firefox). I click the X, then 1 bar disappears along with the x, but the box and the other bar stay.

ah, my bad; this box isn’t very integrated with non-AIR environments; should be fixed now.

Wow, there are some really awesome artists and programmers here on Kong. But who didn’t know that? I want to share what I’m doing to re-aquiant myself with Flash and AS. I wanted to do something within reach, and work on some loftier goals down the road.
This is a game where you play a pair of “magic” bell-bottoms traversing an enchanted country-side…or something. I want to use it as a sand-box to test anything I learn.

And then there’s a horizontal shooter that I want to use to test everything that doesn’t fit in (with) Magic Pants.

Both of these are currently in the “Istarteditlastnite” phase. Can’t wait to share decent demo’s!

I’m working on my first pixelated game in MMF2. The game will be finished by the end of the summer I think. Still in the process of thinking of a name…
Here’s the first level… The Yellow doors are the ending of the level and the gray dude is the bad guy. Red guy is who you control.
