It does target iOS nicely though (I think).

I thought you could make sprite sheets in Flash CS6.

You can actually, which is a kind of neat feature.

But can’t you do the same thing with TexturePacker?

Coolio, I hope you didn’t waste the $700 on it. Though I think you did since you do have the screenshot which I’m assuming you yourself took.

Oh yeah. I’m gonna test that out. Sprite sheets are interesting.

Yup, it’s my screenshot, but it’s the free demo :D Not planning on buying it.
Also, students and educators can get it for only $199. $699 is crazy.

If I said it once i said it 1000 times.
Anyone who sticks a $699 price tag on software is practically writing a permission slip for ppl to pirate.
Tell them to drop it to $99, and you will see sales for licensing go thru the roof.

I have to agree…$700 is ridiculous. That’s more than the cost of a slick PC to run it. Also, I’m sorry to say it but the freeware version (Flashdev?) sucks. Real bad. If you can barely do graphics, then what’s the point? I don’t want to hog my RAM with four or five different programs just to make a dude walk across the stage.

Actually, making flash games in Adobe Flash, especially relying on the the graphical interface, is a strong sign of a noob developer. :p
The free alternative, Flash Develop, is actually quite good, but hard for those who have very little experience and knowledge.

That implies software generally has to be low cost, which is a ridiculous claim.

Using Adobe Flash doesn’t make you a noob.
But Adobe makes millions. They’d make more millions if they wouldn’t charge so much for the software.

It does if you are writing your code on the timeline, but using classes and Doc classes in flash is perfectly fine.

hey, if someone wants to write their code into fourty movieclips and every kf on the timeline and not sort or name anything, who’s to say they can’t? Shouldn’t? Probably shouldn’t. Yet, I’m not sure if most flash developers today even have a degree in Computer Science, or bother looking up Best Practices when working with Flash. Granted, there’s a difference between a 14-year old kid runnig a cracked copy of CS5 and a team like Ninja Kiwi…but my point is…uuhhh…..hmmmm….

I don’t even know how to use the timeline o_O or much else with flash besides the coding environment. I wasn’t aware that you could code into movieclips directly. Or timeline movieclips. Or whatever the hell these gadgets are called. You young folk, get off ma lawn!

I think you can’t put code directly on any objects if you’re using AS3.

That’s right, and not being able to put code on symbols is a good thing.

THIS. Sign of a noob developer, my friends.
EDIT: Also, I dare anyone try to create a big MMO with AS2.

LOL, I’m having a hard enough time in AS2 with making a challenging shooting game that isn’t “challenging” because of bad play control or an overly-large character hit box. :/
And to the guy saying FD sucks because “you can’t do graphics,” well you can use Adobe’s IDE to create the graphics, then FD for the coding part. The two work pretty well together, actually. Just…don’t write code in Flash CSx. Seriously. :(
