Adding Badges?

Allright, bassicly I want to have badges to my game, my game will take at least another month before it’s finished.. but I want to know this on time, not on the last minute.

I read up on the way badges work, and bassicly you have to add an ‘Status’ to your game.. like ‘game completed’ . but what is a status? would it be enough if I just have a seperate frame that says ‘Game completed’ ? or do I have to add alot of things?

Please note, I’m still a beginner in coding, so if it requires coding to add badges, please explain what I should do :).

You have to use the Kongregate Stats API, i.e. submit some form of ‘score’ to Kong at important moments in your game.

However, if you’re a beginner, it is extremely unlikely that you’ll produce a badge quality game.

Basically, you’ll need at least a 4 star rating to get any badges. It needs to be a seriously good game for that.

3.85 minimum. Do you have to apply to get badges, or does one of the admins/moderators add the badges for you?

You can ask them to make badges if you think your game is worthy, or even suggest goals that would be good for any badges, but they’re free to make the badges without consulting you. It doesn’t require any extra coding on the developer’s part unless there’s a problem or they need something specific.

I don’t think Greg actually reads that thread.

They (both Greg and RawIsMojo) read that thread and post in it occasionally. On the other hand, my understanding is that suggesting one’s own work for badges in that thread is considered bad form. Better have your friend* suggest it instead! ;P

*: If you don’t have friends you can always use an alt account.
