Why can’t “horror” ever be the theme?

So there wasn’t much discussion on when people are available to possibly participate. I think the best/closest sets of dates that this would start are:
July 5th
July 12th
July 19th
July 26th
Theme discussion and voting would take place prior to any of these dates; these are the competition’s start dates. So say which you are available or not available on and whether you would like a Ten Day or Three Day competition. Both overlap at least 1 weekend.

If it’s the 5th I can’t participate (on holiday), otherwise I don’t really care.

For me personally, the earlier the better. I’ve never tried a 3-day comp, that could be a really fun new experience, or a disaster…

I’d rather see a 10-day competition. I tend to brainstorm for a day or two before settling on any one idea and that would leave no real time to work. I think 10-day competitions would also get more people joining in because it would be easier to find time to work on it. A 3-day competition means you have to plan the whole of your life around it to get the time to actually make something.
I don’t actually know if I’ll be participating but I know for a fact I’ll be coming up with game ideas for the theme. Each competition I add another really good idea to my game list.

I’d prefer July 19[sup]th[/sup] or 26. July 5[sup]th[/sup] I’ll be busy setting up a new computer and getting things onto it around that time. Don’t like the idea of the 12th either.
Oh yeah, and a 10-day.

Any time is good for me but strangely – the later the better. My main project is in full swing now (engine completed: content creation time) for about a month – at which point its polish/balance time so I’ll be needing a short break from it at that point to ‘remove bias’ before taking on that phase solo. I have someone moving out in a few weeks so I may be occupied. Nonetheless each time I participate in these I get at least one solid project in the works.
Definitely prefer a 10-day. A 3-day is doable, but I would need to be extremely lucky and have it fall on my days off from my 40-hr/wk dayjob (grocery store lol), or nothing will happen.
Anyways. Yeah. Mite b cool :D

I agree, 10 days is probably a lot better. 3 days is barely enough to finish a physics engine. An average one at that. Miss one day and you may as well quit. I think ‘Elements’ could be a cool theme btw.

I might participate if I finish my tuts in time, I think a three day one that is a battle of the game engines ( ie: flashpunk, flixel, etc.) or a ten day one that has a mechanic rather than theme.

If the theme inspires me, and I ain’t off on vacation, I would be glad to give it a try, as I finally have some time on my hands :)

Ok I think July 19th it is for a 10 day competition. Voting for theme will start on the 12th.

It might be too late for me to squeeze something out but I’ll have a go for sure. Are we suggesting themes on this board?

Snow and water sounds like a really good idea. With water, people could make some really interesting experiments.

Whatever Mochi’s July contest theme is? That’d be nice. That way, we can make one game and submit it to two contests.

I should be able to enter this one.
I’ll be donating 30 kreds to the winner, by the way.
