hey,
i had a idea where you could be chatting with people in the kongregate chat rooms and be searching for stuff at the same time. To make this game i would use the Google search engine but i was not sure if this was going against copyright.
The game would just have a google search engine in the middle of the screen and you could go on any website you wanted without having to keep switching windows in your browser. Tell me what you think about the game if you have enough time and thanks. also would this go against copyrighted material as i could not find a way of contacting google directly!
thanks

1. It would be okay, Google has an official custom search API anybody can use, but the free version only allows for 100 searches a day, after that it’s 5$ per 1000 searches.

2. This is a terrible idea. People will not want to use it. The browser is a tool that has been evolving for many years, and the browser vendors have slowly improved their interface and handling to be as easy and convenient as possible for all users. I can assure you that you will not make something that’s better to use by embedding a Google search browser box thingy where the game should be. It would be tiny and hard to navigate, and absolutely nobody will use it.

I think the real issue here is that you personally don’t have good computer knowledge and habits yourself, and you project that onto others by assuming they have the same difficulties that you do.

Did for for instance consider that you can just resize the browser window with the Kongregate chat to cover half of your screen, and then open a new browser window with Google, that covers the other half of the screen? That would be exactly what you are describing, you would be able to chat and read the replies, while searching around, without having to switch back and forth between the windows.

See how easy it is:

I’m sure the OP appreciates the polite and friendly response to a genuine question, but you should probably let Skyboy – who also made a browser type thing a while ago – know that he was also projecting his lack of computer knowledge onto others.

I am pretty sure that Skyboy made that in jest :)

Unfortunately I can’t check it out myself as Skyboy has deleted it. Perhaps it was so amazing and addictive that people died in front of their computer of dehydration?

thanks for your responses everyone. Yes i did know that it was easily possible to resize both windows to create two browsers on one screen but i was thinking of making it a bit easier. thanks for your feedback and i think i will delete the post.
bye

A tad rude <_< Any who why not try and post it? Even if it projects your “lack of knowledge” onto other people does it really matter? Any programming is good practice and it would be better than half the trash uploaded daily anyways.
