What does this mean for me? You will always be able to play your favorite games on Kongregate. However, certain site features may suddenly stop working and leave you with a severely degraded experience.
What should I do? We strongly urge all our users to upgrade to modern browsers for a better experience and improved security.
We suggest you install the latest version of one of these browsers:
Hey guys, I am in the process of making a game that includes customizable levels and characters. I have it so far store all of that on my personal server (through a pretty rigorous encryption in all up to date software). I am interested in porting this to Kongregate, but I want to still store the level data on my servers. I plan on implementing the authentication for kongregate in, but everything else to stay as is, would that be acceptable? Only reason I wish to keep it as is because I am porting this game to iOS and Android, as well as an optional client download if players want to play on their desktop and amp the graphics up some, and still be able to play all created levels from kongregate users.
Thanks for the help!
So as long as I have that (I have a login system also stored on my server for users on the downloadable client), it would be fine? I thought it would be much more convenient for users to not have to make a username and just have it automatically use their kongregate information. I’m new to the Kongregate API stuff, just want to make sure I follow all the rules before polishing up the game!
Yep, you should be fine if you implement the API correctly. Make sure the authentication part happens on your server and not in your client.
Also, be aware of possible collisions if you store kong user registration with regular user registration, especially if you automatically ‘register’ them.

Yeah, good call. I’ll check for username conflicts, and if there is one, it will prompt you for a alternative username. Something like that. Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it!
