I’ve almost got an idea *gasp*. At the moment it’s heading more towards “make a fun game which is somewhat theme related” than “make a boring game which is very theme related”, but we’ll see how it goes. I’ve not started yet though so I’d better get a move on.

It’s really not much right now, but I have the concepts all planned out and will hopefully be able to do a bunch over the weekend.

The movement feels good at the moment with the boost and recoil. It’ll be interesting to see how you build on it.

Only 2 more days left!
Get your coding in while you can.

Another GiTD I have to bow out of because I couldn’t get enough done by the deadline. I really need to start revising my ambitions down for these contests…

I know what you mean! I’m not the best programmer so I get stuck pretty often, I’ve had to dumb down my idea so much just to have something playable. I’d still be interested to hear your idea or seeing what you managed to produce so far.

Sadly I must also fall on my sword as I simply don’t have enough done, sorry.

Back to working on my GiTD31 entry I go…

At least you guys came up with ideas. I couldn’t think of anything—to me, the “pressure” was coming up with an idea that would actually make for an interesting game.

Nooo so many people dropping out D:
Seriously, even if your games aren’t finished, people would still love to see what you guys did get done – you could get feedback on what you have, get ideas on where to take it, that sort of thing :)

I also needed to cut mine down significantly… I hope I can still get it finished by tomorrow at 9pm. I know I’ll have something done, because I could submit what I have right now, I just hope I can complete it 100% and upload it to Kongregate. I’m not too sure that mixing dialogue/text with a time limit is the best idea, but I’m going to leave the timer in there and see what people think. Even if nothing really gets done for this GiTD I’m still really glad I participated, because it forced me to come up with some platform elements that I had never coded before.

I agree with Moocowsgomoo, if you have something you should submit it even if it’s far from being complete! I’d like to see what everybody came up with, especially because I think this was such a good theme.

Yes. If you did make something, please upload it. It was really interesting looking at the different approaches. Especially since all of you went with something completely different than what I was expecting. =)

Anyways, just finished up packaging mine up:

Probably the most time I’ve ever spent on a GiTD entry (6 days development + 2 days on mochi, instead of a couple hours). It was nice to practice the new pixel art tricks I learned during my month off of game design, and I learned that Kongregate has no problem with certain parts of Mochi.

Very well done for a GiTD entry.

There is one thing which seems a tad odd: when you hold jump and left and hit into a wall the collision detection goes a bit odd and jittery, but it’s a very small issue.

I know I already said that I think this theme is cool, but I’m just realizing now how great it really is for a timed contest. Like some others must be, I am really feeling the pressure now to get this done!

I’m trying to make sure the win screen on my game works, but I can’t even get close to beating it… this probably doesn’t bode well.
On the bright side, if nobody can beat it then maybe I don’t need to worry about the win screen :P

It was a really nice theme. I had several different game ideas for this theme, but I ended up with this:

I think I interpreted the theme a bit different by using pressure plates. Anyway I learned a lot making this game, and I’m glad I actually took the time needed to complete a game.

Alright, finally done!

I’m actually pretty happy with how this one turned out – didn’t have time for very much polish, but the gameplay’s pretty much how I envisioned it. Also, rage-inducingly difficult. Mainly that second one actually.

If you try using your own pressure against the mines, it is difficult (you run out of pressure, they get too close too fast, etc).
But if you use their pressure to assist you (i.e., get in between two, one goes off, the other one stops you), it’s a lot easier.

Also, boosting into them is incredibly effective – it’s totally viable to just ram them into spikes before they go off, one at a time.

This is seriously an awesome puzzle game. Really neat concept too – another completely original use of the “pressure” theme haha!

Wow, this is everything I expected it to be and more. And the jumping ones actually DO hurt you! YEEESSSS*crunch*

Really nice! If there’s any way you could lock the mouse to the centre of the screen while playing, that’d be great, because at the moment, if I turn too far in one direction my mouse leaves the screen.

And entry submission is closed!

W/S to set speed.
A/D to turn.
1/2 toggles Anti Missile Gun and Cannon.
Earn as much exp as possible by using the least amount of successful shots as possible, with more exp granted for shots over a longer distance.

(Would have used exp to buy upgrades etc)

Unfinished and nothing really to do except put out some fires, but you see what I was going for… You were going to need to make multiple decisions while you explore engineering and choose which parts of the ship will be saved. You can see what I had planned in the Achievements section.

Arrows to move, space to use the fire extinguisher and mouse to advance dialogue. It’s a shame I wasn’t able to finish it, but I won’t give up on this one. I’ll hopefully be able to publish it to Kongregate this week.

I’ll count it. Probably took you a minute to type that =P

For some reason in my game the fire keeps coming back and some of the doors don’t put you in the right position on the screen… So weird, considering it was working fine just before I uploaded. Ah well…

I was REALLY late to this one. Did a 5 day challenge to myself though. That’s a decent amount of pressure.
