Nutter: If you add your floor and doors and keys and objects to a “worldHolder”; you can mask that with the torch and all it’s children will be masked too!

I can, but the only reason the torchlight has nice soft edges is because the “worldHolder” movieclip is being blurred, doing it that way will blur all my objects too.

I just need to find a way to blur the mask rather than the clip it’s masking and that’ll work.

Oh and my Working Title is Escape or Die.

I found a workaround! yes!!!! http://www.fastswf.com/NiYR3Hc, apparently if you set CacheAsBitmap to true on both the mask and the object its masking, you can apply filters to the mask. Also means I can vary the brightness of the torch now as it’s battery fades.

Now that I got the mask working properly I’ve been able to start building a bit of the world properly. Still need to add strafing though, writing messages in chalk is strangely addictive and very distracting. Anyone care to guess the intended genre of my game? haha

Yup that was a monster :) lucky for you that one was in a cage… of course if there were more of them.. and they escaped… that would be bad… very bad… :D

Ok final update from me for the day;

Added Strafing movement (Finally)
Added a Key Trigger which opens doors so you can actually leave the room now. – But you’ll have to find it first.
Added invisible triggers to move you up and down floors. The floor should change without the player noticing, they just walk up some stairs and magically they’re on the next floor.
Added a second floor (empty for the moment)
Added a little more decoration (blood mostly) to the first floor.

So, one day left again, we are one day closer to the ending line… I hope that me and Peroxen can make it in time. We are really stuck with the collision and the character following, but here is our daily sneak peak, a character from the game:

I’d suggest switching to standard WASD movement… I think it’d work better with this game rather than forward-back.

Yeah, I found the controls pretty counter-intuitive at first as well.
