do you even read the first post?

I can’t afford Flash. Are there any free tools?

There are free tools available. They can sometimes be more difficult to set up or use for certain tasks (especially for newbies), but at least they are free.

Check http://www.osflash.org/projects for a list of all the free tools. FlashDevelop is a great tool to start with, if you are looking for something free.

nice little FAQ you got here i would spend all my time learning flash but i have darkbasic so whats the point

Uh… DarkBASIC doesn’t make you money on Kongregate, for one. Not to mention Flash is much more commonly supported for online apps, and there is a lot more documentation to learn from…Plus, the animation tools afforded by the Flash IDE are extremely powerful. Every language is particularly useful in one way or another. Every developer would do well to investigate this fact.

Is there something like a ‘Flash Game Creator’ that will make it easy for me to create Flash games?

No. Flash itself is the tool that makes web game development easier. Still, Flash games take work and skill to create, and you cannot simply ‘point and click’ your way through game development without actually learning anything. Flash is one of the easiest coding environments to learn initially, so if you want to build games: go through some tutorials!

YES THERE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its right here

But you still have to do at least some coding…

the “point and click” thing is true for alot of things in game editor like create a thing you press “draw actor” and then click on "collision and then u do the rest and if u want something to create something that something u hav to se it on dont create at start

This is a very good site for learning AS3 his videos are great. Its connected to his book of the same name, which while I have not read has many good reviews.

http://flashgameu.com/

a good base book is “foundation ActionScript 3.0 with flash cs3 and flex” isbn-13: 978 – 1- 59059- 815 – 3 or isbn-10: 1-59059-815-6.

There should be a link buried in the first post of this thread, such that you can’t post in the programming forum until you’ve clicked the link. That would force people to at least glance in the general direction of this thread before swarming the forum with the same handful of questions this thread tells you not to ask.

Ive just ordered two books to try and help continue my flash knowledge. Ive learnt arrays, loops, movieclips, actionscript, animation and OOP. Will these two books help me?

Flash Game Programming for Dummies
Flash CS3 for Dummies.

Im not really after game programming with the CS3 for dummies one, but just general videos/animation and stuff in general. So is it any help.

It says I need to install Microsoft.Net 20 runtime before installing FlashDevelope. I checked my computer and it has microsoft.net 2.0 but it still says I dont have it.

Did you even read the first few posts in this thread? Go do that; if you still have the same questions, you should give up Flash while you’re ahead. Well, I guess that would mean you’re without a head, but still…

why aren’t you mentioning flex as a free development enviroment?
you can do all the stuff as with flash, its just open-source.
(well, you need to import sprites/vector graphics)
link to download flex:
