I could be doing something wrong. But how do you craft?
I gave my items to the crafter in the Forgotten Underground, waited an hour but nothing happened.

You probbly have to wait more then an hour to get your item. Also, when the crafting is finished, the item will be delieved to your mail

weapons and armor take like 64 hours to be crafted and the unob from 8 to 16 i think
note:t3 stuff

T4 weapons and armor take much more time and takes a bloody heck of a time to finish
